I haven’t been this upset in years. In what world is it ok to «even out sideburns» when none exist in the first place? Before my brain even registered what was happening, I now have sideburns cut into my hair and feel absolutely mortified. I sincerely regret having walked into this establishment.

Asked Tony for a bang trim and to clean it up a bit, but please leave the length. I’m sick with disappointment. See photo of blonde boy.

Jerry is the best barber I’ve ever had. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and I needed a hackjob done a few weeks ago fixed and my beard trimmed. Jerry has been at the same spot for 38 years and his great cut and company prove why. It’s old school without being shoved in your face by unkept hipsters with hand tattoos. Warmed shaving cream and a straight razor to clean my neck line. Vacuumed all the hair off so we could go right on with our day. Had recommendations on where to go, like Huber’s next door, where one of the waitresses, Yoko, survived Hiroshima. Jerry is an institution and is going to be a hallmark of our trip.

I was in Portland on business and needed a haircut(BADLY). The Tonsorial Parlor was close to my hotel, and the name sounded interesting, so I went for it. Simply put, Shane gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years. I asked her for a shorter version of what I had(I suppose I’d learned to keep my expectations low and my instructions simple), but she went way beyond that. She was thorough and a pleasure to talk to. I can’t wait to go back to Portland and visit her again. Thank you, Shane!

After reading great reviews about this place I decided to try it out. I asked him to «clean it up» basically to make it shorter on the sides and take a little off the top. After sitting there for over a half hour i thought my hair would have been shorter and cleaned up. It literally looked exactly the same as it did before I came in. Being a college student, $ 23 plus a $ 3 tip is too much to being throwing down the toilet. I expected better.

How many barbers do you know can take a look at your facial features, your overall look, the shape of your chrome dome, and turn it into an awesome haircut for less than those trendy hipster shops? These guys can. Been a regular since last year. I literally don’t tell them anything and Shane gets it right every single time. Amazing. I’ve been to other places where I’m very detailed about how I want my cut, they still don’t get it right, and I’m out at least $ 25. Screw that nonsense. Tonsorial Parlor is my hair’s home. Thanks Shane! Stuff to note: cash only, walk-ins are okay but appointments are probably better(I haven’t walked into a shop for a haircut since the 90s, so whether or not a shop takes walk-ins doesn’t affect me.)

Call, Cash, Chat — These are the three things you need when you come to The Tonsorial Parlor. CALL ahead, appointment only. I called same day and it was no problem, but you should really call ahead. Why? I have no idea, just do it. Bring CASH because they don’t take credit cards, debit cards, trade, or BitCoin. When you CALL(see that) ask them how much. Should only be a Jackson or so. Nothing fancy. CHAT him(or her) up about what you want. Tell them what you want, listen to the questions and respond appropriately. During your cut, a little more chat makes the time fly by. You are dealing with two veterans of hair. We’re talking 35 years of experience. No beer or cut-up t-shirts. Just solid steel and a comb. The best part, they vacuum your head to suck up all the loose hair. Nothing better than going back to the office without a itchy neck.

A barber shop run the right way. No beer and babes, just a good haircut. Jerry is an old school barber who still uses a straight razor

Shane Hooked me up with a first class cut. Quick and to the point with the cut, and dishing out a fun conversation. No waiting, no regrets. Walked in no appointment, no hassle.

I walked into this place the other day for a walk-in haircut. I was in a hurry and went into the first place I found. I met the owner, Jerry and he agreed to give me a haircut, even though he does not normally take walk-ins. The place was deserted, and it was lunchtime. He proceeded to give me a good haircut with lots of good conversation. When I went to pay with my debit card — he told me he takes cash only!!! Huh? Minus one star. Then he was very cool about me just taking off and paying him later… plus two stars. I came back after 30 minutes and paid the man and got a decent haircut. Nothing too special about the place, but this was the only barber in my life that used hot lather and a straight razor on my neck. It was a nice touch.
