It’s hidden! Right down the street from Salt and Straw. You enter a door that says BOBA in the neon lights up top. You walk up the stairs and boom another door that leads to Tea Chai Te. It’s café feel once you enter. On the wall is a bunch of different teas to order from that they freshly brew. I’m a milk tea snob so that’s exactly what I came for. I noticed that TCT won a lot of awards for tea. My expectations then raised through the roof. I ordered the black milk tea iced. Chilling on the couch our drinks were brought out to us. Popped my boba straw into the cup and the first sip was wow! Smooth, not too sweet, and well brewed black tea flavor. One of the best Milk Tea experiences I’ve ever had. I didn’t plan on going here, but my girl suggested we try it. I’m glad I went along with it. No regrets! Recommendation: Black milk tea iced

The quality just keeps slipping at this location. They always make my tea perfectly at the Sellwood location and get it to me in a timely manner. I waited 40 minutes for my drink here and it was watery. I asked for a refund and the woman said she ‘wasn’t entirely sure how to do that’ but offered to redo it but said it would take a while. When I got it, it was even more watery than the first, and I felt that my 4.25 was a total waste. She was obviously new and didn’t need to be left alone to run the place like that.

The first thing every Tea Chai Te customer ought to do is head straight to the wall of teas. They have over 100+ different teas and you’ll definitely want to take a whiff of all the fruity and floral teas. My pot of lychee black tea with soy milk didn’t disappoint. I do wish the tea flavor was stronger but overall, the pot(ends up being around 3 cups of tea) was decent. Unfortunately, the iced tea lattes left much to be desired. It was extremely watered down, but the cashier did mention to us that some of the staff were still in training. Our drinks were remade with no questions asked, and it did come out better but I’m still under the impression that the iced drinks are served much watery than the hot teas. Verdict: hot teas definitely beat out the cold ones.

I guess I’m spoiled by living in northern California where there’s a plethora of bubble tea places. So I’m accustomed to freshly brewed tea with boba that’s been soaked in honey or caramel syrup. The drinks here are watery, the green tea is made with a powder, the boba was hard as it had been sitting around too long.

My FAVORITE place to get bubble tea! It’s such a cute little café(is that what you call it??) and just loved going there while babysitting and the kids loved it too! Would DEFINITELY recommend going there! This place got me to liking bubble tea as well :)

Today was my second time here and they never fail to impress me. Today I got a hot taro milk tea with boba and lychee jelly and it tasted amazing. They put the right amount of toppings and the sweetness was perfect. I highly recommend this place for drinks!

I’m obsessed! Dallas doesn’t have any proper tea houses. The selection of tea is amazing. There’s a little handout for people to learn more about the types of tea, and the worker behind the counter(who was super sweet) really knew her stuff — explained the types of tea and her thoughts on each brand. I ended up getting the green tea with some tapioca and it was delicious. I’m a bit of a tea snob — so the taste is really important to me. High quality, well brewed and even the tapioca was cooked very well. My friend got a hot chai and she enjoyed it as well. My husband stuck to the almond milk tea and the taste was great. The place is not as sugary and sweet as most others, because the quality of tea really does make the difference. The décor of the building is super cute as well, lots of places to read and study, but it does fill up quickly. If I lived in Portland, this place would be a weekly staple.

After having already had four meals, I walked into Tea Chai Te with a firm resolve not to have any bubble tea. «Let me just sit here on this nice, cozy couch and look at the obsessively neat display of teas,» I thought. But then I took a look at the menu(«Just for fun,» I thought) and saw hot lavender milk tea for $ 3.50. And pearls, for no extra charge. As it turns out, my firm resolve is not so firm at all. In fact, it’s pretty flimsy. I should probably work on it. But that’s not the point. The point is that this lavender milk tea(black milk tea steeped with lavender) rocked my world. I will admit it was very sweet, but I loved it nonetheless and would go back a million times over. The hot milk tea was perfect for a cold, rainy day, but I bet the iced one would be refreshingly delicious for a hot, summer one. Go. Treat yoself. You deserve it.

Wonderful place to stop by for a cup(or pot) of tea. There’s a great variety and looking over the menu was quite enjoyable. It does take a while to get the drinks because they’re made to order and it takes time to brew to perfection, especially if you order it iced like I do. If you’re into lighter sweet refreshing flavors I would recommend the strawberry herbal tea. If you want something to warm you up, Market Spice is awesome(also great iced!) It’s fun sitting on the balcony but I can see how it would get to be crowded if there were more than 2 groups out there. It is a little small of a place all together. but it’s worth a stop in in my opinion.

Tea heaven, if there is something like it. We have been going to Tea Chai Te for more than 4 years now and it always brings joy to be here. Sometimes it can be crowded and you can’t find a place to sit inside or outside, but most of the times I have stopped I have been able to get a good cup of tea or chai or Te(either of the 3 names you relate to more) and a place to sit and soak in the environ overall. Once you go through the process of making the choice of the tea that you want, which can be hard given the large number of options that they have, you can settle down and they will get some warm tea for you. Over the years I have tried multiple things here: green tea, black tea, bubble tea, etc. My favorites are: blend of Kashmiri and Masala chai with some extra sugar, warm matcha tea with milk, matcha bubble tea and dragon pearl jasmine amongst the green teas. I love sitting outside on the balcony and enjoying the sights and sounds of the street.

Cozy place on the trendiest street in my neighborhood, but I don’t really enjoy coming in because the staff are less than warm and friendly every time. Therefore, I don’t have strong feelings for this place, it’s okay.

I genuinely don’t get how this place has such great reviews. I got a chocolate chipotle chai today, as recommended by multiple reviewers, and found my drink watery and only lukewarm when served. Since others have noted that drinks are made to order, I’m not bothered by how long the wait was(over 10 minutes), but it’s shocking that a place with such stellar reviews can turn out such a terrible drink. Another gripe, unrelated to the beverage itself: the interior is pretty cramped around the register, so people were practically on top of each other when waiting to order and receive their drinks. It would make a lot more sense for the large sofas in the middle of the café to be moved to a less central location, so as to make traffic flow less chaotic.

Boba tea! Really really good. Not as good as the last I had in Taiwan, but it is the USA. Small cozy areas to relax & unwind & sip tasty beverages. Several gals sketching in their art books & slouchy beanies. Pretty much what I expected in a Portland tea shop.

3 words of advice — Vanilla Rose Chai. That’s it. That’s all you need to know. Yes, their menu boasts over 100 variety of teas, but don’t even waste your time reading. I’m confident I’ve found the best one. Placed appropriately at #69, Vanilla Rose Chai is perfect. It’s smooth combo of silky vanilla & subtle rose flavors… oh, I wish I had a cup right now. Order it hot & order it with whole milk. Sit & sip on TCT’s adorable second level balcony and take in the cool NW23rd street scene.

Tea Chai Te(Tea, Tea, Tea), my one and only true love. Ive tried many others, but this is my fave, and I’ve been creepin’ into this tea house for years. They have over 120 different kinds of tea blends including Chai, green, black, white, oolong and herbal remedy types. You can get boba tea here too, and it’s the best. Know why? Because they make the teas from scratch. They can all be made latte style with regular dairy milk or your favorite alternative as well as sipped Au Natural. My favorite is the Chocolate Chipotle Chai. Watch out, it has kick and a fair amount of caffeine. Teas are brewed less sweet than other places around town(thank you!), so speak up if you’re a sugar feign and they’ll help you out. I love that the business is in an old school house, upstairs where I can hide out on the patio overlooking NW23rd. I love that the environment is chill and good for studying on your laptop. I love the cozy vintage furniture, vibe and local artwork on the walls. I love that the tea is consistently good and reasonably priced. Don’t come to Tea Chai Te if you’re in a rush, as your delicious, real tea takes between 3 – 6 minutes to brew. Take a chill pill and browse the public journals on the table while you wait. You’ll be back. There is no substitute.

The product was very good — I had an almond milk tea with boba and a peach blossom kombucha that was brewed in-house. So, that was good. But the treatment by the staff was definitely something that knocked a couple of stars off my review. It was cold and when I tried to change my order because I saw something else on the menu that I liked better, while I was ordering, that was a big deal and I ended up not being allowed to change it without paying for both. Aside from that, it has a cool treehouse type of vibe. They have WiFI and I know this because there were lots and lots of trendy hipsters sitting in the treehouse studying and working on their laptops. Its not even close to wheelchair accessible, being up 3 flights of stairs. I had to leave my elderly mom on the street level alone while I went up to order. It’s got good products and a cool space, but a little more friendliness would go a long way.

The selection of tea is amazing! I never knew there were so many kinds! So for tea connoisseurs, this is like tea heaven! You can mix it up and make your own combination specially formulated and ordered by weight if desired. The normally milk tea is really good because the tea taste is pretty salient which makes it delicious! The wait was a little too long for me on the given day and I wished the guy behind would have started my order while the cashier lady was taking a long time formulating the person’s tea.

My friend and I stopped by here for some tea and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The patio is so cute and a great people watching area. We shared a carafe of some iced Madras Chai and it was delicious and refreshing. They have a great selection of tea to choose from. I only wish the people who worked there were more friendly and helpful. We got a lot of blank stares when we were asking questions.
