Mill ground flour done on site and then baked right on site then eaten right in site as a sandwich. What a great find in portland. Today’s special soup –tomato orange — YUMMO as Rachel would say. We also purchased some bread to, go. — mountain bread stuffed with delicato squash, cheese and herbs.

Amazing bread that’s cooked over live fire in a brick oven. Pizza night on Sunday nights are not to be missed!

Very delicious buckwheat chocolate chip cookies! We came back on our last day in Portland for breakfast and enjoyed a breakfast sandwich with ham, egg, and gruyère. Their coffee was good too. Only downside(but not downgrading the rating for it), was that the music early Sunday morning was really sleep-inducing and boring.

Amazing bread choices. I like the breakfast plate with cheese. Drinks are good as well. It is a cool space with the oven visible from the main space. They have a few toys available and are pretty family friendly on weekends. Weekdays, I have gone there for meetings or to focus and work. A bit on the more expensive side for bread but it is all artisanal and amazing.

It’s fresh, organic and the whole, locally sourced grain is milled at the bakery. I can’t eat other bread now. That’s not a bad thing, in my opinion.

Mellow rock, sunshine beaming through the windows and a casual vibe. Ordered the frittata plate for $ 9.50(and coffee $ 2.50) and I’m not the usual frittata guy. It was quality! Selected the ham and red pepper option and the ham had good, minimally processed cuts, and the eggs were not dried out. The coffee was chest-hair-inducing as well. The bread that they make fresh in house was top notch. Thanks for the pleasant start to my Sunday, TB.

my experience is limited to weekend brunch. Love this gem. close by but feels like we are out in the country. Great, welcoming staff. beautifully prepared meals using the freshest options. Very healthy. if you are looking for some greasy hashbrowns and bacon to overcome a rough evening before, this is not the place for you. a real gem.

I really wanted to like this bakery. I have been there 6 times since they opened and it is always disappointing. Willing to pay more than any of the other bakeries in portland although we do have mighty good ones, but you guys have to deliver. Today I had the vichyssoise which was truly awful, viscous, and totally bland, and had a long hair in it. The bread that came with it was not exceptional. The service is always great. Well, except for the hair I guess.

Last Sunday, I bought a pizza to go called ‘garden’(small tomatoes, tiny little squares of zuchini, whole garlic, and some cheese) — for $ 17. Excellent dough, well cooked, but so little of everything else …

Absolute best eggs Benedict in town! Seriously, I will be dreaming about the hollandaise sauce. Donut-muffin also tasty.

I was out with the dog on a sunny Saturday morning when bam! I needed something to eat and a latte. I turned on my Unilocal and low and behold Tabor Bread was around the corner from where I stood, so gave it a try. It was solid on all counts but the portions which are on the small side. But the quality and the taste were very good. I had Tabor Benedict with prosciutto and a sour dough waffle. Both were superb but just a tad on the small side. Reading the other reviews it seems that they may have some variance in their offerings but on this day it was very good.

I really want to like this neighborhood place, but I’ve given it 4 tries now, and the latest was the worst. I picked up a loaf of bread for a cheese plate at home. When I went to slice it that evening, the inside of the bread was wet, gooey, and uncooked, though the crust was burned.

Walking distance to where I’m staying. Had the turkey sandwich, which was delicious. Cute little place.

We ordered the white wheat bread and it was mediocre. Though it wasn’t doughy, it should have been cooked a bit longer. The texture was gummy. The owner was at the register when we walked in, and she didn’t acknowledge us for several minutes. When she did finally offer help, she was snooty and seemed annoyed by our questions about the bread. The converted house was really quaint and had a lovely ambiance.

Cute place with a large, brick oven and lots of natural light from its big windows. First impressions were good, but the bread was even better. I had some Mountain Bread, I think with olives and cheese baked into it — honestly I don’t remember what any of ingredients were. But I know that it was absolutely and incredibly delicious. Tabor Bread, next time I am in Portland, you will be seeing me again.

I’ll admit, I am huge bread snob! Rarely do I tolerate store-bought, processed bread – maybe the initial slice but then I can’t eat anymore of it. I’ll get nostalgic for a simple enriched white bread(especially with barbecue) once in awhile. I love, love homemade or locally baked artisan bread so Tabor Bread has been on my radar and I finally stopped in last Sunday. Tabor Bread is just after the light on Hawthorne and 50th before the hustle and bustle of the street. You walk in and order at the counter then take your number to a table if you are doing brunch. I came for coffee, pastries, and a loaf of bread for the week. I ordered the blueberry muffin, pumpkin doughnut muffin, an 8 oz. mocha, and the whole wheat batard to-go. You aren’t given a number for to-go order so it was a little disorganized. I was given my pastries and the coffee took a little bit to make so I was trying to stand out of the way of people ordering and servers bringing out food, but I didn’t want to sit down and take up a space… finally, my coffee was done. I had to get back in line for my loaf of bread because that wasn’t given to me at the same time as the pastries. I was snacking on my blueberry muffin while waiting for my beverage, however, I didn’t realize it until I had reached my car and halfway through with the pastry that it was not blueberry but a spiced pear muffin. Four stars because the mislabeling of goods. It was tasty until I figured it wasn’t what I was expecting. My almost two years old niece ate the pumpkin doughnut muffin and she seems to have liked it. Had a slice of the batard today and it was perfection – crusty on the outside but soft and spongy on the inside. I didn’t expect it to be so moist and it stayed so after grilling/toasting, did not fall apart. There’s nothing like the smell and taste of fresh bread! I’m definitely going to be back for more of the batard and to try their other creations. Your bread exceeded my standards!

Where the hell are you located? You hide like a house on the fringe of a commercial zone, nudged next to the residential area. It’s like you’re a ninja building! Unfortunately, I only came by for the bread. I had another date with East Side Deli down the road for a sandwich lunch. But what you do, you do it well, Mr. Tabor Bread. Whatever hipster name you gave to your grainy loaf, it is fan-damn-tastic! Chew-damn-y and mois-damn-t, flowing with grainy, seedy goodness. It could, however, use a bit more cru-damn-nch on the crust. T-shirt NInja says: Ex-damn-cellent!

Where have you been all my life, Tabor Bread?! Feeling a little embarrassed I didn’t know this amazing spot was here. Well, I do now and I can’t wait to come back for more of your delicious vittles! My half-sandwich(focatta with cream cheese olives and greens) and salad with tasty toppings were both top-notch. Iced herbal tea hit the spot. I am stoked to come back and try the mountain bread and ALL the house made jams. Super friendly staff too. Score!

Tabor Bread is located near the very quiet end of Hawthorne Blvd. I wouldn’t have looked for it if it wasn’t for Unilocal. The building itself is adorable on the outside. The atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. The staff are friendly and the food is simple yet delicious. The star here is of course, the bread. I had the white wheat batard and it was perfect. Chewy and slightly crispy crust with soft middle. If you want to try their sandwiches, get the tomato-onion jam, with goat’s milk feta cheese and sprouts. Yum!
