my boyfriend and i saw lucian for a few months after we had been together for about 8 months and i knew the one year itch would be coming for me. lucian gave us the tools to work through any disagreements before they became full blown screaming matches. our last appointment was several months ago now, because lucian fixed us! but, we always know he is in our back pocket if we need a tune up.
we havent needed one yet though because once our arguments start to get out of hand, one of us will say, «do we need to make an appointment with lucian?» then we check ourselves before we wreck ourselves, dig deeper into the toolbox lucian gave us and (so far) we have worked things out!

Lucian Schloss is an exceptional practitioner. I have worked with several individuals who are seeing Lucian for couples therapy and it is clear that he has been enormously helpful to them in navigating the complex issues in their relationships. Lucian is as good as it gets. I have spent the majority of my life experiencing some sort of counseling or therapy, and I can clearly say that Lucian’s approach to counseling is one of the most true, down to earth approaches that I’ve experienced. Beyond the obvious elements of a great therapist, Lucian connects beyond the surface and gets through to the core issues that can be behind broken down communication. More importantly, he has perfected the ability to translate the psychology of the human mind and how it relates to the interaction of two people into a language and dialogue that is easy to comprehend and understand… You know how some of our best friends give the worst advice? Lucian is like the best friend you always wanted that gives you the advice you need.

I have been a client of Lucian’s for almost three years and in that time I have become a different person. He has been a facilitator of change for me and a consistent source of helping me be a better version of myself. He has a holistic approach in his methods of counseling from meditations to exercises, these modes have made all the difference. Lucian has an inviting demeanor that allows me to speak freely about any issue without a feeling of judgement or criticism. My Husband and I came to Lucian during a very volatile time in our relationship. We both felt that something needed to change but didn’t know what our how to get there. We were taught the Imago technique which was incorporated into our sessions. Lucian has been integral in teaching us how to communicate. Along with the care and compassion he has brought to our conversations our relationship has strengthened and deepened to the point I always dreamed it would be.

One thing to know about Lucian is that he is crazy smart. He’s grounded theoretically, and he has a broad and deep knowledge of his field. He’s also well-​versed in alternative, naturopathic approaches to health such as nutrition/​lifestyle change, homeopathy, and energy work. He understands the pressures on modern marriages: financial stress; career demands; parental pressures; time constraints; modern distractions that prevent true intimacy; and etc. And fortunate for those of us who get to work with him, he applies all of this skill and background to his practice while remaining extremely down-​to-​earth and practical. He relates easily and is easy to relate to. When it’s appropriate, he’s willing to share a bit about himself with us, too — but without transgressing the bounds of professionalism or diverting attention from our counseling goals. And a bonus: He’s got an excellent sense of humor, and big, contagious laugh — which, of course, can be a huge help in tense circumstances.
Lucian has a great sense of what couples need and has the skill to be extremely flexible while maintaining effectiveness. For example, he trained my partner and I in the Imago dialogue process (i.e. Getting the Love You Want by H. Hendrix), which provides a script for relating effectively. Often, we stuck directly to the script, but sometimes, we used it only as a tool, and sometimes, we didn’t use it at all and just talked things through. At times, we did activities meant to create connection, build intimacy, and tap into submerged parts of ourselves. A careful observer, he identified the ways we perpetuated our negative relationship patterns, and he provided useful tools. Importantly, his practice was always grounded in compassion.
Marriage isn’t always easy. The journey includes amazing times — as well as rough patches, entrenched beliefs and assumptions, bad habits and patterns of poor communication. But, with Lucian’s help, in my marriage, I was better able to negotiate these obstacles, gain clarity, and take a closer look at my relationship dynamic.
