Terrific. Great lady, highly skilled and reasonable price.

The BEST place to get a great cut without paying over-priced Portlandia prices on trendy SE Division!

I guess I should know by now that I can’t afford cheap hair cuts. I got a wash and cut. The wash consisted of a shampoo bowl that didn’t drain properly and no conditioner. So when it was time to brush through my hair it was completely tangled. She asked what I wanted done: I said a trim and bangs. I was a bit startled when she took a razor out and started to thin it. I told her that I don’t want my hair cut with a razor because I have very thick, wavy, coarse hair and the razor completely frizzes it out. She kind of scoffed and sighed at me because it was«too bulky». Well, I wear my hair big, so I like the bulk. I’m kind of attached to it. Or it’s attached to me rather. So she reluctantly reached for the scissors and began trimming. The final result: she left the length like I wanted so that was good, but there are a few of out of place really short layers on top, which is upsetting. Also, she cut my bangs way too thick and left them too long, even though I showed her a picture. Those are going to take a year to grow back. The saving grace is that I didn’t spend 120 dollars on a bunk hair cut(which has happened to me before). Two stars for Star Salon.

Lee did a wonderful job cutting my hair. I was pleasantly surprised to find a business who knew how to cut my straight, coarse Korean hair. I will definitely be back!

I’m so glad I stumbled into Lee’s shop during the Division Street Fair a couple years ago — Lee’s given me the best hair cuts at the lowest price in the most consistent way I’ve ever had. She takes her time to get it «just right’ every time. She’s worth twice the price she charges, so I always tip generously — I want to keep her around! Can’t recommend more highly. Beats the heck out of Super Cuts etc. You know you’ll get a good cut with Lee, instead of crossing your toes in the chain stores and not being able to afford the pricey salons. Also a nice quiet environment, not overstimulating like Rudy’s. Can’t recommend more highly.

Finally! My search for a good Asian haircut is over. Being Korean, my hair grows out black and straight. Many a barber has been defeated by the wiry magnificence that is my hair. But Lee gave me the best fade I’ve had in Portland. For $ 11, that’s a steal! She doesn’t take appointments so be ready for a short wait. Street parking is easy to find, as well.

Lee has been cutting my partners & I hair for around the last 12 years. When we first started going to her hair cuts were $ 7 now they are $ 11. She is a wonderfully nice person. We have always been happy with our hair cuts.

Very basic interior, but very reasonable prices and quick service. She did a good job on my shaggy dome.

Great spot close in for a great haircut at $ 10– at least for guys. I can’t speak for ladies that have a ton more needs when it comes to styling. So I’d better not speak to that. I’ve also notice lots of Moms bringing their kids here. I’ve been coming here for about five years or more. The owner, Lee, is a sweet Vietnamese Mom of three. What I like. If I come Tues — Thurs, I’m sure to get in. Fridays and Saturdays she’s usually slammed, so it’s good to avoid weekends. Star is closed Sunday and Monday. I hope you’ll try her out and give a favorable review. Lee’s a hard worker that definitely needs a break, and is worthy of your business. Guys– make sure to tip really well, after all a haircut and tip down the street at Bishops– or anywhere else really, will run you about $ 20.

Star salon is my haircut joint. It’s a one woman show: Lee is very friendly and attentive. It takes her a while to do a regular man’s haircut, but I think it’s because she’s paying close attention. We don’t have a lot of idle chatter. I also take my kids and she’s great with them. She’s obviously cut lots of children’s hair. She does cut women’s hair as well, although I only seen a few girls in there in the last few years. I’m sure she would do great on straight hair, but she didn’t do so hot on my wife’s curly hair. Overall a nice, friendly, and relatively inexpensive place to get a simple haircut.
