The Southside Swap and Play is a great family resource in an area without a lot of amenities like it. It’s a nonprofit coop with two indoor playgrounds converted from classrooms in an old parochial school. They also have gym hours, an outdoor playground, and a patio.
The «swap» component is a toy and clothes library where you swap your old stuff for a wide range of new-​to-​you things. Most of the clothes and toys are in great condition. They just added a formula and food swap too.
It’s hard to review a community organization like this, since everyone is a member family and there’s no exclusive staff. That said, everyone is quite nice and keen to see the kids play together. I’m recommending it to all my parent friends.
The membership fee is graduated based on income/​ability to pay, and tax deductible since the Swap and Play is a 501©3 organization. There are guest hours too. It’s an organization that will give out as much as you put into it.
