Silver Quill Tattoo

Got this tattoo done by Kat yesterday morning. I never had a tattoo this early in the day as I didn’t know tattoo artist were up before the sun got warm. The tattoo is far better than I expected. It looks like she went the extra mile to make it look superior. Out of my 16 tattoos, It is the best quality tattoo I have. The lines are so crisp and clean that it looks like she drew it with a nice pen. So very pleased with this one. I may just have to use her services again and refer all who want a great tattoo at a fair price.

I got a cover up chest piece by Laura about four weeks ago. Checked out her portfolio and reviews before scheduling, thought her work looked clean and liked her mandala designs. When I met with her for the consult beforehand, I asked her to try and incorporate the previous tattoo (six pointed star) into the design using line-​work in such a way that it was disguised but not just blacked over. We talked about what style I was looking for, and I thought we were on the same page. Left a $ 100 deposit which is a bit much for the size of the tattoo (about 5“x5″), but thought it would be worth it.
I was unfortunately proven wrong. The design, while good, did nothing to incorporate the previous tattoo– Laura just worked around it, assuring me that the noticeable change in color between the old tattoo and the new would fade in «a month.» Not sure if she realizes that it generally takes years for tattoos to fade if done correctly, but I digress. Immediately following the session I was pretty pleased, but over the next two days I began to notice how inconsistant the lines were– the majority of it looked like it had been drawn on with a ball point pen that was running out of ink. The shading/“dot work” was similarly disappointing, and the whole tattoo ended up being varying shades of grey. Parts of the outline were also lopsided and skewed.
I don’t know if this poor result was due to a lack of effort or skill on Laura’s part, if it was because of this weird Saniderm bandage that locks in all moisture, the gun she used which was definitely not conventional, or the «vegan» ink her website touts, but the tattoo she gave me pretty much sucked. I just went to an artist I trust over at another tattoo studio to re-​do/​touch it up, and it looks much better but some of it is still pretty mediocre. If you are looking for some new ink in Portland I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Two stars is being generous.

I have had 3 tattoos done by Kat and I love each piece! Every person that sees my ink has complimented me and the art work and always ask where I got it done and by whom. I have recommended Kat to many people and will continue to do so. In fact, a few of the people that I have sent her way have since gone to see her and she has done some awesome pieces for each one of them, I have personally spoken with each of these people and they all raved about their experience and continue to book appointments with her for more work or continued work on their pieces in progress. One of the clients who is getting a very large back piece is a close friend of mine and she has said that every time she shows someone the piece that Kat is working on they think it is awesome and can’t wait to see it progress. I have heard nothing but fabulous reviews from her clients and I absolutely agree. I will never go anywhere else to get ink, Kat is professional and incredibly talented. Additionally, the shop is awesome as well, excellent location, clean, friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere.

Kat used recalled ink on me and now I have painful sores that will take months to heal. Beware of this woman. She hasn’t even tried to help me with this problem. No remorse at all!

I have been going to Laura since my first tattoo with her years ago at Forbidden Ink. followed her to Opal Ink and to Silver Quill. she has done many of my tattoos. good quality work for a reasonable price. granted she has gone up in prices but well worth it. she deserves to be paid a good price for her work. she listens and comes up with amazing ideas.

I got my first tattoo done here and it was a really great experience. Kat was really great about getting back to me and answering my questions about my design. The shop was clean and not intimidating for a newbie like me. I’m pretty sure I’ll be coming back,

My sister and I both got custom designs by Josh. The designs he made for us are gorgeous (exactly what we had in mind), and the tattoos are clean, precise, and beautiful. We definitely have «our guy.» The shop is also clean and laid back, and the artists all seem friendly and talented. I can’t wait to go back!

Love this shop!!! It has a great vibe, is very clean and I was super comfortable through the whole experience. Trina did my tattoo and she worked really hard (even though I am super picky!) to make sure I was completely happy. It came out so good!!! I will definitely be going back to get tattooed by her again.

Finally jumped the gun and got a tattoo I’ve been wanting for a few years, after looking at Todd’s Instagram I made an appointment and went in. The shop was very clean and Todd was super cool, super professional and very very clean. He talked me threw the whole process and my tattoo came out better than I have ever imagined. I recommend him and his shop to all my friends and anyone who compliments my new ink. I will definitely be back for more work.

I had a tattoo done by Josh about a month ago and I loved the entire experience. I showed him what I wanted and told him the items I wanted altered and he came up with the perfect piece. Scheduling was easy and he was great to chat with during that session. He used the stipple effect in my piece and I get tons of compliments on it. The shop is clean and everyone in there was friendly. He made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Will be back!

I was impressed with the work she did on my Wife’s leg. Laura Jade was swift and professional. Her work was clean and detailed. I believe she undercharged us, so I plan to make it right with her whether she likes it or not. Parking Down Town can be a bit tricky, but in this area it is free for the allotted time posted. They are in a secure location on the 3^rd floor, so you’ll need to get buzzed in.
I have scheduled time to have one of mine touched up, but she’s booked out several months, as with any decent tattoo artist.
