Shoe Stop

Stumbled across these guys online, looking for shoe repair in NE Portland; I saw that they got mostly very good reviews, and I can walk there from my place. Tried them yesterday– needed new heels on a pair of shoes– walked in and the guy said they could have them done in an hour. So I killed an hour at Lloyd Center; shoes were ready, excellent job at a good price. A good shoe repair shop is one of those things you need to find when you move to a new town :)

This place was quick and easy. I brought in a pair of booties that needed new heels and 1 hour and $ 15 later, my shoes look shiny and new! This far exceeded my expectations. I will definitely return for future shoe repairs.

I have used Shoe Stop for years and I love the place. They have even repaired a pair of shoe while I waited. I went in one time just to see if the pair of shoes I had on could be repaired the man took them and repaired them on the spot. I love these guys.

Negative stars if possible!!! Do not go here!!! been here multiple times because it is close to my home and convinent to drop off and pick up while shopping, everytime the man has been rude, absolutely no social skills. I always thought I just caught him on an off day or something. I have taken $ 600 boots — $ 20 boots to this place. Last time I took my FAVORITE boots to him, they are pleather/​vinyl and I am obviously aware of that. I am 100% aware that resoling them is a waste and its cheaper to buy new ones, well I would if I could but no one sells these shoes and its literally not possible to buy new ones, I was completely willing to pay twice as much as I paid originally. I politely walked up and asked him if he could fix them, I was on my lunch break and only had a little bit of time. They needed to be resoled, I had completely worn them out. I showed him all the damage and he snapped at me, (I was shocked, I am a paying customer and have been prior.) he said not to pull to sole up, the shoes are completely ruined and I wanted him to see what I was paying him to fix. He said he could do it. I left my name and number, he said he would call me either the next day or the day after that to pick them up. I waited, no call. I went to lloyd center to see if they were ready because I was so excited to have my FAVORITE boots back… I went and for the first time ever, there were other customers there (I was shocked). I wish I warned them to leave but instead he handed me my shoes and to my surprise, he did not re-​sole them, at all? He put a new heel on them, and also broke one of the heels in the process? I pulled the soles back as he handed them to me, I was in so much disbelief I just handed him the money and walked away crying. As I paid for them he had the audacity to tell me how much it would cost to re-​sole them (WHAT I THOUGHT I PAID FOR HIM TO DO?) its been almost a month since this happened and I am so depressed. I get so angry when i walk by his little store, I am so furious. I paid $ 20 to get my shoes returned to me in worse condition than before. I am so angry. Avoid this place at all costs its literally not worth it. I look at my favorite boots and have so much anger now. I barely make minimum wage, I just wasted my money and time.

I have always heard positive word of mouth about this place, so I brought in my favorite pair of western boots for a re-​sole. The result was bad on all fronts: the stitching is noticeably awful, the left boot now squeaks, the soles that they attached are much softer than the originals, they took longer than their estimate, were rude when I called to ask if they were finished, and then didn’t call me when they had completed the job.

Appalling. They just sawed over a half inch off the heels of a pair of $ 1400 Miu Miu suede boots. The shoes are not wearable anymore, they cause you to lean backwards. I wore these shoes daily and they are not replaceable. The kid who fixed them (in about 10 minutes, obviously taking zero care with them) was extremely defensive on the phone and said I would have to wait to talk to his dad.
Stay far away from this place with any valuable shoes.

Although their on the other side of town, I try to make it over there because they do a good job for a reasonable price :) My friend tells me to wear a bullet proof vest when going to this area lol. I say, it’s not like I haven’t been in the area a million times and she responds, «it only takes one unlucky trip!» She’s so dramatic.
I went to a place in Hillsboro near work first but the guy was out to lunch. Really? We just spoke, I said I’d be there in 15 minutes. So I took them to a place in Beaverton on my way home from work and when they said it would be a week, that didn’t sound so good, plus I didn’t like when they said that no one in town would do them in less than a week. Really? You’ve called every shoe repair in all of Portland!?! Or even just Beaverton!!! LOL. So I take them to a repair shop in Tigard near home and he quotes me $ 27! Crazy man, he even said the soles are too worn to even bother and to toss them out. Their not that bad really, so yeah ummm… no sir.
So back to Lloyd Center I go, where the nice young man fixes the heels in an hour while I try on overpriced makeup at Nordstrom just around the corner. Nope, I am no better looking when I use drugstore makeup & I have both at home.
They’ve so far fixed a few pairs for me. A while back I had a difficult non heel repair and they referred me out. I appreciated their honesty, to not try a job that isn’t their expertise. But for heels that need building up and other jobs, their my shoe repair of choice.

I’ve worked in the area for many years and always take my shoes to these guys for heel replacements, stretching, and overall repair. I’d recommend them to anyone. They are fast, friendly, and to the point.

The Shoe Stop continues a great Lloyd Center tradition of shops with literal names (others: NoSkinny, a plus size store; Alley Kat, chock-​a-​block full of ho clothes; and Trend Shoes, which sells… «trendy» shoes).
The two guys at Shoe Stop do a great job, dished up with a side of sarcasm and snide, which I adore. It’s a teasing relationship, should you choose to strike it up that way. Otherwise, they’re perfectly nice.
They’ve resoled my Frye boots and shined them up wonderfully. They’ve reheeled many an abused pump. And recently they just did the soles of a formerly leather-​bottomed pair of heels that I walked through in just one season. They talked me into a sensible rubber sole, which will last much longer and does not look dorky at all, despite my fears it would.
Their prices could be a bit lower — $ 35 for a half rubber sole on a woman’s shoe seems a bit high. But they didn’t charge for the shine, and they’re quick (got that done in a day), and they do a great job.

I came here due to the convenience of it’s location with 6 pairs of boots. My boyfriend and I collect boots and between the two of us have over 20 pairs of vintage and motorcycle boots. The pricing was fair, and I brought them in paid over $ 300 and was told that they would give me a call when they were done. I received the call alerting me to their completion and went in to pick them up. I told the guy my name and that I received a call and the dude just stood there and stared at me… so I stared right back at him. (weird right!?) Then he says «ticket». Just the one word… not even a statement or question, just «ticket». I replied «OH! Sure thing here it is» and the fucker ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME! He actually rolled his eyes at me… I couldn’t believe it. AND THEN! To make the story even weirder… one of the 2 pugs that comes in with the worker starts to crap right there on the floor. What and the world is wrong with this business???
I did NOT pay over $ 300 dollars to be treated like my large order was a burden. The attitude that this person had was incredible!
This transaction took place nearly two years ago, and I am disappointed to say that the sole the guy placed on my motorcycle boots didn’t last even a year. The original sole lasted for 3 years, with heavy use on my bike… but their soles just sucked! They wore down so quickly, I couldn’t believe it! SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS EXPERIENCE. Every time I walk past that store all I can see is that pug crapping on the floor. Gross!

Two guys behind the counter. One was friendly. One was kind of grumpy. I really didn’t care. I don’t need anybody to blow me kisses or offer me tea and crumpets while I get my boots repaired. (Freaking Timberland boots came apart after only a few months of wear. They cost way too much dinero to throw away.) Friendly guy fixed my boots while I waited. It took about five minutes. It only cost $ 5.00. Good deal. I have a pair of fancy Justin cowboy boots that need new bottoms. I’ll be heading back to Shoe Stop soon.

The Shoe Stop is not in my neighborhood. Not even close. He’s located in Lloyd Center, where you might want to consider wearing a flak-​jacket just to shop safely… just sayin’.
But I love this guy. He will shod your heels and get you back on the road in a flash and for a reasonable fee.
I love that he put a really nice rubber safety coating on the sole of my 5 inch stiletto boots, put a new little heel thingy on them, and had them polished and looking like new all in under an hour while I passed the time at Ann Taylor Loft. All this and for less than $ 30.00.
I like the fast, friendly, reliable service that I know I am always going to get at shoe stop. Been going here for years. This is why I take all my shoes there and recommend him to my friends.

I really appreciate and respect the good cobblers at Shoe Stop. Prices overall are reasonable. I’ve had many shoes repaired there over the past 5 years, especially vintage shoes I’ve taken for some type of resoling or rehabilitation. My husband’s snowboard boot busted a couple years ago and they were able to rivet in a new D-​ring on the spot. They have lots of shoe accessories like shoe polish and brushes, to random needs such as orthotics, shoe cleaners, laces, and those thingy’s you stick into the forefoot and/​or heel to make dress shoes fit a little better. Occasionally, incredibly cute pugs chill out on the counter, snuggled on doggie pallets. The cobblers are polite and professional. I’ve always found them to be honest about what could (or couldn’t) be done to repair something. I’ve been pleased with the quality of work done thus far. Once they even expertly repaired the leather strap from a killer, hand-​me-​down Louis Vuitton purse my MIL gave me. Please don’t be put off by it’s locale in Lloyd Center Mall. If it matters that much, they’re located right inside the 2^nd floor mall entrance closest to Nordstrom. That means: no unnecessary mall walking, if you’re so disinclined.

Love the pugs, love the dudes. They have been doing this a long time and put out quality work fast and affordably. TGiSS!

These guys give consistently great service and are very knowledgable. They have great turn around time and very fair pricing.

I’ll admit I was a bit nervous at first about bringing my 40-​something year old knee high leather boots to a shoe repair in the mall. My hesitations turned out to be unwarranted, though, and I’m glad I chose Shoe Stop.
There are two adorable pugs that live in the store (okay, they probably aren’t there ALL the time) and the people who work there know what they’re doing. My shoes were re-​soled and polished in just a few days and at a good price. And it’s right next to the leotard store!

I went to this shoe repair store in Lloyd Center Mall because it was close by and they quoted me a reasonable price to reheel my Dansko clogs, even tho the fellow didn’t quite inspire confidence in me. The work was done quickly enough, but every time I wore my shoes at work (retail/​food service) my feet were slipping out from under me. This had never happened before, and now it was happening all day long.
Back at the store he shows me three types of rubber heel with as much tread and grip on them as a piece of paper – not something with a deep tread like a Vibram heel or what Danskos were originally built with. He doesn’t offer to reheel them with new heels or refund my money; he asks me when I had them done and says it looks like I’d been wearing them for much longer than the two weeks I had been (I do wear them every day for work), because the rubber heel was already wearing down! He asked me if I had my receipt, insinuating that I was lying about how long I had been wearing them.
When I told him I had called another shoe shop (Nob Hill Shoe Repair in NW) and asked their opinion – and they had said they fix Danskos all the time with a Dansko specific heel – the Shoe Stop fellow said they were telling stories, there was no such thing, and that in 20 years he’d never had a complaint.
When I asked for a refund (for $ 15), seeing as I needed to reheel them again, he refused. I said I’d be happy to tell all my Dansko wearing friends about his customer service and shoddy repair work.
There was absolutely no recourse offered – and I’m deeply disappointed by his unwillingness to compromise.
I have been very happy with the Nob Hill Shoe Repair folks in NW Portland and would highly recommend their work. Reasonable rates, friendly guys, good hours, great heels available for your clogs!
