One awful night, I awoke to the sound of running water. Curious, I followed the sound and found to my horror that the hot water connection to my upstairs bathroom sink had somehow popped off and had been spewing water onto the floor for God knows how long. There was water coming through the ceiling into the room downstairs and even further cascading down into the basement. The damage was extensive. I called ServPro to come do an emergency water cleanup. To their credit, they did a thorough and effective job. The problem came later… Our homeowners insurance was thankfully going to be able to cover everything after our deductible. When ServPro found this out it seemed like they decided this was a good time to milk every fraudulent penny they could out of our agency. When the itemized bill came, it had numerous charges for services they simply did not perform. And it wasn’t little things that could have been accidental. It was big items like whole rooms that didn’t exist being serviced. I guess they figured that since we weren’t paying for it out of pocket we wouldn’t look too closely, or perhaps we wouldn’t care. But I did care. It was the principle of it. The size of the bill and the amount of fraudulent charges on it literally made me sick. I actually felt bad for our insurance agency — and I’m not a big fan of insurance agencies! I called my agent and told him what I noticed and he was very thankful that I brought this to his attention. He assured me he was going to go after these guys and reverse those fraudulent charges. My advice? Go with another company. I don’t know who to trust but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, these guys are ready and willing to commit fraud in order to rack up your bill if they think they can get away with it.
