Been to every single Self Edge other than NY and Mexico, which is on the list.
They have amazing stuff and despite it being expensive, I know that whatever I buy, the bf will love it.
Tyler’s not there anymore but best guy ever.
They know their denim, they know their brands and if you’re the type to shop for quality over quantity, this store is it.

Best store for denim in Portland. The staff is really helpful, they remember you and the service I received was exemplary. Also I got the best pair of denim I have ever owned. They fit perfectly.

This place is easy to miss as it is tucked away in an alley sort of. It is a small shop with a good selection of men’s apparel. A little expensive.

Love this place’s NYC location, love the SF location and now love the PDX location.
Tyler was the man, he really really knows his stuff. Ended up getting a totally improptu, totally unneeded pair of Iron Hearts here.
They did the hemming during my stay in town and they were ready to go — good stuff — great store.

I took a pair of jeans to Self Edge for a crotch blowout and am really happy with the results. It was $ 40, which is reasonable to me considering the quality of work they did.
To me half the fun of denim is watching them fade and come to life, so being able to salvage a pair makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, haha.
I haven’t bought any new denim from them, but when I’m in the market I definitely will. The gentleman in store was real nice, and they have a great selection!

Got my denim hemmed there, fair pricing charge for Chain stitching hemming.
Manager there is regular denim head, very knowledgeable on anything denim, very pleasant to interact with.
Wide range of Japanese denim available in store, if you want something special do drop by.

The denim aficionados in town. Go here if you’re looking for the very best of the best. The price points are high but everything they carry is hard to find int he US and is of impeccable quality. Goes great with nice bourbon.

Tyler Madden, who I believe is the store manager, is phenomenal. He took time with me to to educate me and fit me, and present his products in a very friendly, enthusiastic manner. I am a difficult fit, but Tyler found a great pair for me.
I am new to selvedge denim. I did a lot of research about selvedge denim prior to driving to Portland from Seattle specifically to visit Self Edge and get my hands on some quality product as well as an education. It was a trip well worth it and I left with a pair of Iron Heart 21oz 634s. Now I am immortal from the waist down. (If you ever meet a pair of Iron Heart jeans you’ll understand).

I don’t wear selvedge denim.
My partner does, and he is VERY serious about it.
I walked into Self Edge confused, and pretty uninterested.
I walked out with a new appreciation for well made denim and customer service done right.
Tyler– you made that a truly enjoyable shopping experience. You were helpful, knowledgeable and super friendly. Most of all, you were incredibly enthusiastic about the store and the product.
It was palpable.
It made me excited about the store and the product.
Keep doing what your doing, because it is working.

This is probably one of the best places for getting raw and selvedge denim. Its a real nice and fancy little shop.
I bought a pair of jeans, and they even chain stitched hemmed it for me in less than a day because I was on a trip from Vancouver and needed to leave the next day.
The staff there was very knowledgeable and assisted me in choosing the pair that I bought (3sixteen 100x st)
They had lots of selection inside their huge cabinet. Just ask them to show you what else they have.
Even the changing room was real nice. The curtains were made of selvedge denim, which I thought was really unique.

This place is fantastic. Super knowledgeable staff and the vibe is very welcoming. This is not a Levi’s store though. Getting a great pair of denim that will last a long time is a PROCESS. Think custom suit status.
Set aside an hour and enjoy the process. Try things on and ask questions. Be clear about what you want and you won’t be disappointed.
Bottom line: If you’re looking to find an amazing pair of jeans that will only get better with age, this is the place to go.

This store looks promising being the 4th store in the US. They offer services that most denim stores would not– denim repair, darning and chain stitch (?!). It sure sounds a good deal to me when I have to have my jeans altered and pay an extra $ 30.
It’s only a matter of time when SEPDX will rise. They have a vast array of products, in which you may get inundated with. The denim world have developed it’s own culture.
