I swung by on a Friday at 11:30am to pick up a cold brew for me and a latte for a friend to wash down a box of Blue Star I just copped earlier … don’t judge me D: Both drinks were delicious, but already having had a few cups of coffee on my first visit to Portland thus far, I had high expectations. RR met those high expectations, but didn’t exceed them. What did stand out however was that Ristretto Roasters has a unique, great big open space with a good amount of ambient noise(chit chatting, glasses clinking, steam wands-a-going) for those who don’t prefer complete silence in a coffee shop. Wonderful and bright natural light floods through and illuminates the space. Spacious and natural light are both big winners for me. This is also evidently a popular spot to stop by and relax, as there were many people in the store when I dropped by that day. Cheers, RR! :9

Great crew. Leg dude was super chill and helpful. The gal at the counter immediately knew what a Gibraltar /Cortado was. Cool open vibe inside. Super simple and pleasant. They also have outside seating on the shade.

I enjoy the drip coffee here. I can’t speak of the specialty drinks. The atmosphere is casual and small. There are small tables inside and a couple couches and an easy chair to relax. The outdoor seating is under cover in the shade and shares space with Cha Cha Cha! and EAT! Next door.

In search for caffeine after Happy Hour at Tasty n Sons, we went next door to Ristretto Roasters. Much like Tasty n Sons, Ristretto Roasters has a neat, high-ceiling space that contains some comfy couches and booths. They also have large doors that were open the sunny day we were there, so you feel like you’re outside. My favorite.

This place is doing it extra correct! Beans were good, grind was on par, distribution and tamping was precise, shot was pulled in correct amount of time. great tiger striping on the pull, beautiful crema on the shot. The milk was steamed correctly and blended well into the milk topped off with a nice rosetta. You can tell the barista took pride in what he was doing.

Ristretto has really good coffee! But I was slightly disappointed when I got our coffee cups and saw that a «small» was smaller than average. My latte had a deep, rich, robust flavor though, so quality over quantity, right? I also ordered some jam and toast because our original plan of going to tasty n sons didn’t work out. I was expecting sliced bread with some typical spread, but was pleasantly surprised to see 4 big, thick chunks of crusty bread with a side of salted butter(it had sprinkles of sea salt on it), and marmalade. YUM! Spacious, modern interior and a couple tables outside too if you care to people watch. Really nice baristas too!

Coffee bliss. Ristretto is certainly my go-to shoppe when in need of a really great latte or glass of cold brew. The baristas are so amazingly kind and always make my visits that much better. If in the mood for something particularly sinful, I strongly recommend ordering a vanilla breve latte – heaven. And although this may be a strangely simple snack, their toast is brilliant! Large, crusty, grainy bread with butter and your choice of jam. Oftentimes, it can be difficult to find a seat inside but if you do, camp out with a book or listen to the awesome music they usually have playing. Simply put, I would base my next residence on how close it is to RR.

Ristretto has great coffee and espresso! If you get a coffee to stay then you get a free refill. Everyone who works there is super nice and gets to know regulars, at least enough to know favorites. The apple hand pie is so good(and I usually hate cooked apples). The one thing about portland roasting shops is they never have good pastries. Ristretto does though, yum! There is pretty much always a place to sit and there is free wifi, too. On warm days they roll the windows up and let the fresh air in. There is also an outside seating area.

Amazing coffee. Coming from SF and living near slight glass and blue bottle we have very discerning coffee standards. Ristretto has amazing coffee, probably one of the best coffee places I’ve ever been to.

As we were kicking off our rainy day after a pretty sound sleep, we went in search of caffeine. Ristretto Roasters was(kinda) in the direction of our first destination, so it would do the trick. Now that I know what a true macchiato is — and it’s not what the green mermaid goddess would lead you to believe — I like to order one up from time to time. RR makes a mean one. Definitely woke me right up. Their chai latte is pretty fab as well. Stole several sips of my husband’s beverage too.

This was our first stop early in the morning here in Portland and I must say it is wonderful. I love my coffee and I have yet to try Stumptown, but I know local roasters have game in Portland. To preface, they carry automatic brewed coffee and offer single origin pours as a side option. Most places that have automatic brewed coffee kept in those jug dispensers aren’t really that flavorful and err more on the burnt side, but Ristretto does not disappoint. I am very happy with their cup of Honduras. Because of that, they get a four star alone. It’s refreshing and perfect for mornings. It’s medium bodied, citrusy, and a little bit of a sweet finish. I’m not down to the point with the taste profiles, but I know what’s crap and what’s not. And this is a thumbs up. My girlfriend ordered a cappuccino and it was very pleasing to our tongue. The latte art, of course, was present and texture is silky smooth. Milk’s sweetness for this cappuccino was greatly accented, making the drink much more lovely. Service was fast and friendly. This was a good choice for a taste of Portland’s coffee scene. Ristretto is «Right“stretto. HEHE.

Maybe it was just the particular day I stopped in, but this is the quietest coffee shop I’ve ever visited. If you’re looking for somewhere to sit and read or work without interruption, this is the place for you! While every table and seat was taken, everyone was plugged into their own externally silent virtual world — I almost wanted to look around to find the No Talking sign. Other than that, it’s more or less a standard PDX coffee shop. Sleeker than some, and nicely bright due to location and the large wall of windows, it’s surprisingly the only real dedicated coffee option on a blocks-long stretch of N Williams. I’m not usually the biggest fan of Ristretto’s coffee usually, but my Americano was just fine and accompanied my library book quite nicely.

This is my go to coffee place in my hood. It helps that donuts are in their regular rotation for sweet treats(damn them– now I have to go to the gym) but the coffee is also delic. I stick to a iced coffee in the summer(barely need to add anything to it and it’s fantastic/albeit strong) and a soy cappuccino for those cooler months(ie most of the year). I was bummed about going dairy free but am pleased that their soy tastes just as good and somehow they manage to whip up some foam into the soy which seems a feat. Parking isn’t too tough in the neighborhood, looks like you can get some work done inside(ie the music isn’t blaring) and there’s a covered patio outside for those looking to brave the elements. So glad this is in my hood!

We hung out here while waiting for a table nearby at Tasty n Sons and the 45 minutes flew by. We nabbed the communal table in the back and had a nice game of Bananagrams that we happened to have on us, and I had a Chai that was fantastically spiced(everyone who tried it was impressed). Free wi-fi, good drinks, the usual coffee shop package! Interestingly, they share a back hallway with all the other businesses in this little«strip», so you can kind of see the other stores/restaurants through the back when you go there to find the bathroom.

Sooo so good. I’ve visited 2 or 3 Ristretto locations, and this one is my favorite. It’s got a nice vibe to it, and the baristas here are super friendly. There’s also a good amount of seating… and I recommend coming here prior to Tasty n Sons for a cup of coffee while waiting for your table…

I like this place. It’s got a cool vibe to it. The outside seating is covered so you can enjoy a coffee out there even if its a little drippy. Might have to hug the building a little more. The inside is nice. Music isn’t too loud. Local publications are available to read. This place is decently crowded evrrytime ive been here tho. Might be hard to get a seat at times. The beans are pretty decent here. They don’t stand up to my favorite place in pdx(Heart), but if you’re in nopo and want a cup o jo this place is still worth going to. Had a blueberry bran muffin. Standard fare. Good stuff. A notable thing to mention is that you get a free refill when you get a cup of coffee ‘for here’. Staff is courteous and friendly. They brought my girlfriend her americano all the way outside. Yay.

while you are waiting for a seat at tasty n sons, head over to ristrotto roasters for a cup of coffee and maybe even a donut! this is our advice to you even then we did the opposite. we went here after we ate at tasty n sons. oh, we were full but felt like an ice coffee and donut(you know, since it was national donut day and all). cute coffee shop with a great ice coffee. great tasting donuts. we decided to sit outside because it was 78 and sunny that day. ample seats inside and outside. minimalistic décor. great open air space. we love it.

I went to Portland a budding coffee drinker and left a definite coffee drinker. One of the most amazing caffe Americano I have had was from Ristretto Roasters. It was bold and rich without any burnt taste. The space was cozy, the baristas were pleasant, and the price is comparable to other coffee shops I have tried in Portland. If they were in my ‘hood, they may become one of my regular hangout spots.
