Had the crab cakes and the swordfish. Both were cooked perfectly. Crab cakes were light and flavorful, a true appetizer. Sword fish had wonderful char on it. Our server Natalie was on point. Great knowledge of the menu and a fun attitude.

Alaskan Salmon… perfectly cooked medium, skin on, but broiled to crispy yumminess and lightly salted… so an asset, rather than an inconvenience. On a bed of gnocchi, but seriously almost a shame to put in the same category w the doughy balls I’ve had elsewhere… with a light, buttery bit of sauce tossed sorel mushrooms. The best ever, if you can’t tell already:). Service was pretty good; great recommendations but slow to get out bread, drinks, refills. Had our 4 and 5 yr old kids w us tho and they were very accommodating; knew to serve first and had good options.

Wow. Best arugula n kale salad I’ve had. There are crunchy pieces and a couple of small pieces of anchovies. Menu says capers but I didn’t taste any The poke portion is small. I had it last week at Roy’s in Fashion Island. Their appetizer portion is bigger. Very good though I will be back tomorrow and try their grilled octopus and Manila clams I returned 2 days later during happy hour. I was certainly happy. Small plates. I can taste more of their items

Happy Hour! Fish tacos and Spicy Korean BBQ Chicken Wings… soooo yummy! The Peel/Eat Shrimp were just ok. I felt like I peeled off the«good stuff»(seasoning) and they were a bit tougher than I like my shrimp to be. The ambiance of the place is very relaxed and the live music was a great addition. Customer service was so awesome. Rachel made us feel comfortable and she was very helpful with us making our selections. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Oregon.

I’ve been several times over the past few months, and have always had a nice experience. We went for Christmas eve dinner, and were treated to an excellent meal. The servers are all well trained, and know the menu offerings well. I’ve never felt rushed or pressured, and have been allowed to sit and enjoy a nice leisurely meal over a couple of hours. Their theater menu is a great deal. 3 course meal with choice of entrée.

We love the Fish House! Late night starts at 9(rather than 9:30 at the Steakhouse) and has a similar menu with a few new items. I’ve been wanting to try the Fish House Punch but it’s always gone by the time we get there. No private parking lot is a downside but we’ve never had an issue getting a spot for late night.

Oysters: yes please!!! Soooo good About $ 3 – 3.50 each The happy hour hamburger is good and worth the price, I wanna say it was $ 4 Ambiance is chill, the bar upstairs has lots of space. The bartenders that day were very nice and helpful. Something interesting I noticed but didn’t try was the punch of the day lol. Looked fruity and strong. Defiantly recommend the fish tacos, nicely priced during happy hour and tasty. The dish comes with 3 and they are hard shell. Smells a bit fishy in there but hey that’s one of their specialities I would come here again.

A great location and delicious dishes in a well-designed, packed house. Five palates included my family and friends who are professors from various universities, and myself. All enjoyed the food and surroundings, but the numerous staffers seemed ill-trained in table service. Our waiter gave a great impression of his knowledge and was very polite, but seemed to forget us often. Various bussers and suited manager types would often walk by our table, covered with empty plates, look at it intently and leave. Very strange. The young bus people did not seem to understand silverware signals and tried to take plates only when we were still eating, then left the empties to the point where at one time five of us had 11 empty plates on the table. Pricing here is a bit unwieldy. Three of us had appetizers, two dinners, one $ 34 bottle of wine, yet the bill was over $ 250. My «Knife and Fork Caesar Salad» was the weak end of the cuisine. It consisted of 5 small uncut, dressed romaine leaves a fleck or two of Parmesan and one anchovy. This, after I confirmed that the salad would include«real anchovies», to which he replied«Oh yes!». He did bring my a couple more when I asked. Underwhelming. Nice places lose their appeal when overpriced. Service people become annoying when they aren’t pros. A bit of work here would go a long way. Great flavors in a mixed bag.

Came in for lunch. Of course we ordered the onion rings which really are the best onion rings ever. I ordered the steak medallion salad and it was wonderful. I think this place can be a little on the overpriced side but there are some things that they do really well, including the onion rings, seafood, and steaks.

Good Happy Hour. The salt cod on a polenta cake is perfect. It’s my kind of food. The salted cod flavors the polenta and the tart salad balances the dish. The chef who created this dish knows what they are doing. The chowder isn’t the best I ever had but it is still dam good. The food at happy hour is well priced but I think the drink prices are a little high but not unreasonable. The décor is OK. Seafood themed bar is neither offensive nor memorable. A good crowd comes here.

Yay! I’m a fan :-) My husband and I had cocktails and dinner here on Saturday, March 12, 2016 before going to the Schnitz to see The Oregon Symphony perform. We made reservations for 5:30 and arrived about 10 minutes early. The front doors were opened for us by 2 nice guys and inside we were greeted by 3 very nice ladies and seated immediately after our coats were taken and safely hung in a nearby closet. Our table was in a perfect location, pretty much in the middle of the dining room with perfect views all around. Our wait staff(Ed was our waiter) was nice and attentive. We decided to start with a couple Old Fashioned cocktails — delicious! Next was a Gusano for my husband and a Nor’western for me. The Gusano cocktail is beyond words! One of the BEST cocktails I’ve ever had. AMAZING! Because it’s March, and it’s Portland Dining Month, we decided to order off the 3 course $ 29 per person menu. We both had the salad to start — very yummy. For our entrees I had the truffle, mushroom, scallop risotto and my husband had the steak medallions. Both entrees were delicious. The pot de crème with mint Chantilly and cocoa nib streusel was outstanding! Without a doubt we will be back. We will recommend RingSide Fish House to our friends and family.

My husband and I just had our 10th anniversary dinner at Ringside and are very happy. Being relatively new to the area, we had not dined here before and were a little skeptical of all the positive reviews, but I’m glad to say we were pleasantly surprised. I usually weigh the cost/value of a meal into my rating, which would probably bring Ringside down to 4 stars. It’s expensive and serving sizes are on the smaller side. The food isn’t so remarkable as to compensate for that(i.e., nothing is mind-blowing). However, there is much to be said for perfectly executing dishes that appear simple; for that and the excellent service by our waitress, Natalie, they earned the 5 stars. We ordered from the Portland Dining Month menu and added a couple items. Here’s the breakdown: Ceviche: Fine. I thought it was a little too artsy in presentation and small portion, plus I would’ve liked the scallops marinaded a bit longer, but the flavor was good. I guess I’m just a rustic ceviche kinda gal. Prawn cocktail: Great. Big, plump shrimp and a really yummy cocktail sauce. Good serving size(5 large shrimp, I think). We would buy the sauce if we could. Mixed green salad: Great. I know… it’s salad, but greens were fresh, it was dressed just right, and had a nice balance of ingredients. Steak: Good. I’m not usually a fan of restaurants slicing my steak for me, but it didn’t seem to have any adverse effect. The meat was tender, perfectly medium as requested, and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes were also well seasoned and smooth. I could’ve used a little more sauce with the steak. The serving size was ok for me given the rest of the meal, but if I was only having this one course, I’d be hungry. Mushroom Risotto w/Bay Scallops: Great. Most memorable dish of the night. Skimpy on the scallops, but the risotto was amazing. Risotto is often served too thick or mushy, but the texture here was perfect. They didn’t skimp on the truffle flavor. We could’ve used a bigger portion, though. Hubby ate his risotto and ½ my steak entrée. Pot de Crème: Great. It’s chocolate pudding with a little embellishment. Not too sweet, but indulgent. Sugar donut things(beignets?): Great. I don’t know the name because we didn’t order this; was comped by the restaurant for our anniversary. They were delicious, especially dipped in the chocolate pudding :-) The experience was definitely wonderful and perfect for our anniversary. Service was terrific(attentive without being intrusive) and the ambience quite pleasant and upscale without being stuffy. We’ll definitely be back for more!

Come here for the Happy Hour! You can have a great dinner for two or more… get some super fancy dishes… and hardly break the back account. I love this place! This place is fancy. Fancy, fancy, fancy… and I can’t get enough. So often places have a great ambiance and really try hard to bring in the class but people here often don’t dress accordingly. Not here. People are all about the class. You may want to get here a little early if it is a Friday night. We shared a table with another couple. This was fine. Oysters here are a big hit. You can see them fresh on ice when you enter the bar area. Everything on the menu is tasty and affordable!

Had a great time for dinner. They were able to host a party of 12 for a bday dinner party the night before Valentine’s Day. Our server, Hari, was excellent and also was kind enough to split the check for us, which he did not have to do. The only downside is waiting for our vallet. As I am writing this review, we have waited over 30 minutes for our car… and still waiting… I would not vallet here again.

Here’s an idea. Plan on catching a movie at Fox tower and before or after your movie hit up this place for some eats. This place rocks the Happy Hour like no other. Excellent selections such as steak bites, french dip with REAL prime rib, deviled eggs, cheeseburger, calamari, oysters, mussels, shrimp, fish tacos, clam chowder, caesar salad and more. Pricing for these items is from $ 2.95 to $ 4.95. They also have $ 5 adult Fish House punch(while it lasts), $ 6 wine, $ 6 well drinks during Happy Hour. The Happy Hour portions are decent size too, excellent quality and great taste. Customer service here is always great. The Ringside has a very professional and knowledgeable staff. Check it out when you get a chance. Oh and if you like onion rings this place is known for them so at least try a half order. :-) 2016 – 4

Stopped in to RingSide Fish House for a business dinner on a weekday night. First impressions were: classy and intimate ambiance. We started our meal with three appetizers: their famous onion rings, the dungeness crab cakes, and the steamed manila clams. Onion Rings were delicious — the breading was different than the normal Onion Rings you’d have elsewhere but I’m not sure if the app was worth the hefty price. The crab cakes were also very delicious, perfectly cooked and made of great quality crab. The clams were alright… the quality was there, but the flavors weren’t spectacular or mind blowing. Nothing I haven’t had on the East Coast. For my entrée, I had the Seared Dayboat Scallops while my other guests for the evening ordered the Grilled Ono and the Sauteed Rockfish. My scallops dish was quite good, perfectly cooked with flavor. For some reason, there was a slight bitterness when eating the scallops and the scallops only. Overall, still a solid scallop dish, but I would try something different next time. My coworker thought the Grilled Ono was A-okay and was lacking a wow factor. The portion was pretty small… fish was cooked perfectly, but the accompanying sides were nothing great. As for the Sauteed Rockfish, this was the highlight of the night. The fish was nice and flaky, and the flavor of the broth was excellent. The choice of ingredients was perfectly paired with the flavors of the broth and the type of fish being served. This was an excellent dish. To finish our meal, we ordered the Bittersweet Chocolate Pot De Crème and the Dark Chocolate Toffee. The toffee was delicious. Nice and crunchy and definitely had the homemade flare to it. The Bittersweet Pot De Crème was not my choice so I did not enjoy it as much as my coworkers. It tasted like a crème brûlée made with bittersweet chocolate mousse. The texture was excellent but the flavor wasn’t for me. I also wanted to mention we ordered the following two cocktails with our meals: El Diablo and the Preacher’s Eddie. The Preacher’s Eddie was more to my liking than the El Diablo but I enjoyed their various concoctions and would love to experiment and try other drinks on their menu. Overall the meal was very enjoyable and service was excellent. The menu is very well put together but I feel that there are plenty of dining options in Portland and I would choose elsewhere to experiment before choosing to return to RingSide Fish House. The food was all excellent but did not give me the wow factor I would expect from a high end seafood restaurant.

I mean, have you even SEEN this happy hour food menu? This is how you do it. With a giftcard burning a hole in my pocket, a friend and I descended upon the RingSide bar right at their 3:00 Sunday opening. The server was quick to greet us, get drinks into our hands and explain their various menus and offerings. Right from the start he(and the whole team) were nothing but professional, helpful and friendly. They have a dang good staff here at RingSide. So, the happy hour menu. For drinks it has the basics(wine, beer) and also a nice surprise: $ 5 punch! Unfortunately it hadn’t yet been made that day, but it’s cool to know that in general it is an offering. The food, however, is the real star. For $ 50 we got a a glass of wine, a French dip, fish tacos, calamari, steamed mussels and deviled eggs, plus non HH grilled octopus and a Meyer lemon tart! Ok, we might have gone a dollar or two over our gift card allotment, but it was all well worth it. The mussels and fish tacos were especially good, with the calamari the only thing I wouldn’t order again. I definitely need to come back. We didn’t even scratch the surface on happy hour options, and I love to feel fancy at a reasonable price. RingSide Fishhouse is the place to do it.

Need to say, my experience with this place wasn’t that good. Hats off for the service but menu is very poor for a restaurant claims to be fish house. Oysters was the only choice satisfied me, the rest was just ok. Plus, I definitely don’t think the price is worth it.

We went to the Fish House for a business dinner and left very satisfied. There is an issue finding parking in this area, so I recommend footing the valet charge in this instance. You can add the tab to the bill come time to pay. The food was perfectly prepared, high quality ingredients, and was presented beautifully, food art style. This does not mean your plate is stuffed with a $ 7 all you can eat meal at Home Town Buffet, far from it… if you are hungry get appetizers! We went with the onion rings and the clams. For the entrée, there is an option that gives you a soup/salad + entrée + choice of dessert. This option is only available on the Summer Menu. The price was similar to just getting the entrée independently, so I recommend choosing this. The options for the entrée portion were: Rockfish, Surf & Turf, and Roasted Chicken. The dessert was a «Butterscotch Pot De Crème» which was served with a Butterscotch Pecan Brittle chunk on top. This was the part of the meal where I was supposed to have left to pick my wife up at PDX. Fortunately, I can legitimately blame the Butterscotch Crème(Brulee) for the shenanigans it pulled on me on this evening. The environment is classy, but not so classy where it’s uncomfortable. There is a happy hour which is only served in the bar area, so you won’t be bringing your discounted draft beer back to the table. The servers and waitresses were fantastic. There is a guy whose entire job is making sure your water cup is full and the waitress handles anything else. We are in the wine/spirits industry and were blown away with our waitress’ deep knowledge of the wine list. Clearly there are Sommeliers on payroll somewhere, because the wine list is incredible — it’s one of the best I have seen. We asked for a very specific taste profile and appellation, and she nailed it and brought out the correct glassware. Great wine, great food, great service. 5 Stars without question. Cheers!
