Nothing fancy here but they have great prices for reasonable portions of good food. Also, friendly and quick service. I’m sure we will go again.

You get the most bang for your buck here, that’s for sure. Good teriyaki and katsu. Also really good yakisoba noodles. It’s a little over salted, but that is kind of expected. And it’s not the best teriyaki I’ve ever had. But for what you get for under $ 7, it is SOO worth it!

The pictures on the wall inside Rice & Spice Teriyaki implied that their teriyaki items come with broccoli. I was pleased to see that, since broccoli is my favorite«super food» and I figured I would get part of my daily requirement of vegetables included with my order of teriyaki chicken. I also paid a little bit extra to substitute fried rice instead of the plain white rice. I took the food to go, and when I got home, I found that there was no broccoli at all.. .so my menu item was not like how it was depicted in the picture that was displayed in the restaurant. My disappointment was short-lived though because the teriyaki chicken was really good. It was nicely grilled with some serious char marks, which I like. The teriyaki sauce had a nice tang to it and was not overly sweet. Also, the sauce was thick enough to adhere to the chicken.. .instead of being thin and watery. The price was nice too, $ 5.95 for the teriyaki chicken plus 75 cents extra to substitute for fried rice. Besides, there were some peas and carrots in the fried rice, so I did get a little bit of vegetable after all. It was tasty stuff and I will go back, but next time I’ll inquire whether broccoli actually comes with an order so I’ll know what my expectations should be.

Loved our food. The place is questionable from the outside and the seating area. I was wondering initially why the high reviews. But when we got our food and experienced the service, the ratings made sense. My veggie and chicken rolls were yummy– the side of honey mustard didn’t seem logical until I paired it with the rolls. Yum. My buddy got the chicken teriyaki and rice(all white meat). She had been in the mood for teriyaki all day and this didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend!!!

Decent place for a Teriyaki lunch, but I can’t say that I was wow’ed by my meal. I met up with a friend for lunch and ordered and Teppanyaki combination of spicy chicken teriyaki and pork Kat-su. It was served fast and was tasty enough… I guess that I was looking more. You don’t need to go out of your way to stop by, but if you’re already in the area and got a hankering for Japanese fast food, Rice & Spice will do the job.

What a cool little place. A place, that from the outside, doesn’t look like it would be something, but it actually, and quite possibly, is something. Something good. Have I lost you yet? I live locally to Rice & Spice and have passed it on many occasions. I’ve now been in a couple times and simply put, the food is good. The teriyaki sauce and the katsu sauces are both really tasty and the food has been great. I’ve had the chicken and beef rib teriyaki combo over rice and I’ve had chicken katsu over yakisoba noodles and the gyoza are perfectly done. Some Asian places will give you enough food to feed an army with just one meal. Rice & Spice doesn’t overwhelm you with too much stuff. It turns out to be enough and the prices reflect that. It’s a nice little spot in the neighborhood that I don’t always have to head out to 82nd to go enjoy some good Japanese cuisine. Enjoy.

Cheap, tasty bento. Hole in the wall, with a half-dozen small tables or so, a small counter in the window, and the counter you order from. I’m guessing they do a brisk lunch time and take out business… I had the chicken and beef ribs, while the GF had the chicken and gyoza. Meats were tender and flavorful. A bit too much teriyaki sauce, and a little sweet for me. Super friendly service. This mall food court food but a step up, much better service, and maybe even cheaper!

This place is great! You get great value for the price(which is not expensive at all). The food is really good, portions are great and the owners and employees are super nice. Convenient to call in an order ahead of time, they are quick even if you walk in and order. My son and I love this place and have been coming here for the past 13 years. Great little place!

What a find! We had been searching the many terriyaki chicken spots around town and can say with certainty this is one of the best! High quality delicious chicken with perfectly cooked rice and the spring rolls are amazing :)

Sweet little bento gem in né Portland. I stepped into this tiny teriyaki spot looking for some delicious teriyaki… And that’s exactly what I got. Despite the tacky outdated décor inside. This place rocks — the prices are nutso!(In the good way) $ 5.95 will get you a perfect portion teriyaki chicken dish that is so so tasty… The service was friendly — the front counter lady was really welcoming and pleasant to talk to. I definitely will be back!

Teriyaki is a magical force for lunchtime value. Rice and Spice Teriyaki is a modest neighborhood place that has plenty of tables and plenty of combos. Their food comes in all kinds of meat, soy and veggies with numerous sauces to enhance the experience. I walked in for lunch on a Saturday. After only a minute, I decided to order the chicken and pork katsu combo along with a large drink, for about nine dollars. The tables are of a decent size and were laid out to maximize the amount of seating. After about fifteen minutes, the meal came. The chicken had a neat sauce and the pork katsu was crispy. I tried a relative’s Orange Chicken to my liking. Portions were fairly good, though as with the service speed, Portland has better teriyaki places. A nice bit of rice and lettuce lay under the meat. If you want to improve the rice after you eat the meat, I suggest getting sweet and sour sauce from the counter. Do make a note that drinks are refillable at their fountain. Rice and Spice is ever so much the usual teriyaki place that makes cities great.

Good little hole-in-the-wall place. Better for takeout as the décor and interior are a bit outdated/low-rent. Very very nice people and good basic teriyaki with grilled chicken and fresh veggies. They have brown rice, hooray! The only con is that the veggies are basic-cabbage and broccoli mostly.

Average overall but awesome for the price. The teriyaki is on the sweet side for my taste. I put a ton of hot sauce on and it didn’t really cut through the sweetness like I had hoped. Teriyaki is hit or miss like that when you don’t like your non-desserts to be sweet, though. Very few places do it just right for my tastes so I can’t hold it against them. Otherwise solid. Decent amount of chicken, plenty of veggies. I can eat a fair amount and the regular bento was enough for a modest sized lunch. Really can’t complain for a fairly healthy, decent sized $ 6 lunch.

Pretty good teriyaki, good portions at a great price. I usually order the jumbo and that lasts me for 3 lunches. You have the option of white or brown rice at no additional charge. Customer service doesn’t exist, what do you expect? it’s an Asian place! There is one thing they can improve, their meat is usually too burnt!
