Revocycle

If you’re used to Soul Cycle or Burn Cycle (or most spin classes for that matter), you’ll have a definite learning curve at Revocycle. They use a different style of bike that more accurately mirrors the workout you’d get on an outdoor bike. Expect your legs to be tired and to be truly challenged!
As someone who is a runner and used to spin a few times a week, I found Julia’s class challenging and very rewarding!

State of the art facility. Michael is authentically interested in making sure your experience is what you want it to be. A different approach to cycling that feels even more rewarding than the grind-​it-​out typical cycle studios seemingly strive for. Pretty awesome to get the attention necessary to adjust the bike precisely and to make sure your workout feels good.

Michael and his team are amazing. He was open, honest, and welcoming. The cycling equipment is top notch, and having the freewheel (same as most ordinary outdoor bikes) is so much better than the knee breaking fixed wheel cycles you’ll find in most spinning classes.
Music was on point, not too loud but enough to keep everyone from hearing your grunts as you push yourself to the limit. The cycles include a cycling computer that gives great feedback to hold yourself accountable and work on learning how to use the Perceived Exertion scale that the instructors use to encourage you as you work.
If you want to get out of the rain and spin, I can’t say enough good things about Revocycle.

I don’t review stuff. Ever. But I have to share that Revocycle is a great cycle class. I get a great workout, got fitted PROPERLY to my bike by knowledgeable people, enjoyed great music from a great sound system in a low-​lit/​CLEAN and pleasant room, without the super-​loud annoyance of someone too close to the mic yelling at the crowd saying how awesome and great everybody is («you can do it” — go girl). I love high energy too, but I don’t need it shoved in my face at 9am. I just want a good workout without hurting my back (which I did at other spin classes, as well as my knee during the first class). I get a good, sweaty, ergonomically proper ride at Revocycle.

Amazing Cycle studio, with great instructors and attention to technique and bike set up. I started at Revocycle in the summer of 2015 and enjoyed it so much I wanted to become a Revocycle instructor. I am thankful to have found such an amazing cycle studio in the Portland area.
If you live in the Portland/​Vancouver area come and take advantage of the free week. You won’t be disappointed.

I took a few introduction classes at Revocycle recently. A great experience all in all.
Michael is fabulous and gets you set up and ready very efficiently… he actually TAKES THE TIME to adjust the bike, explain about the classes, and make sure you’ll have the best experience. I’d say it takes about 3 classes to really get into the groove and start feeling the effects of this yoga-​inspired spinning class. I’ll take some more classes as soon as my schedule allows. It was FUN and made me feel really good (and I can’t even ride a real bike! ha!)

When I first moved to Portland & started asking around about cycling studios, Revocycle was recommended to me by a triathlete as the most realistic indoor cycling workout in the city. A tall order to fill, but this place delivers!
Expect to get greeted warmly & helped with your bike set-​up — no intimidation here; everyone’s treated with respect and fitted for proper form. Know going in that the bikes themselves may take some getting used to (i.e. for the first few workouts, you’ll want to play with the resistance until you figure out how to best dial it in for yourself), but after that… well, there’s no going back to regular «spin» bikes! These give you a more honest workout by ensuring you’re working along the full pedal stroke, versus using a heavy wheel that just takes your legs along for the ride.
I can vouch for the efficacy, too — when I got injured this past fall during marathon training, I relied on Revocycle classes as my non-​impact form of exercise. Not only did cycling here allow me to maintain my cardiovascular fitness during those 5 weeks off the roads, but I was also delighted by the added side effect of being road-​ready for my bike. Workouts are tough, yet thoughtful, and instructors take a mindful approach to teaching, which I appreciate.
An added bonus is that there’s a wonderful coffee shop across the street, so you can pop over to Sisters for some caffeine post-​class. Pretty much the perfect way to start your day!

My entire experience at Revocycle was, from start to finish, five stars. My instructor inquired into my previous experience with indoor and outdoor cycling and was very encouraging when I indicated I have very little. He spent much time fitting me to my bike and explaining how it works. He even had me pedal before class, so he could help me with form.
During class, I appreciated his calm, thoughtful, and encouraging demeanor. He gave suggestions on form and pacing during class, so that we could correct as we switched up speeds and resistance. The music was a fun and refreshing change of pace, spanning 70’s to current, and I got a terrific workout on their bikes.
I also really appreciated that we were not doing crunches or spinning hand weights around while pedaling — this is, in my opinion, hokey and meant to make you think you’re getting a better workout, but even worse, it’s completely unsafe. Revocycle is the complete opposite. My instructor was so knowledgeable on what is and is not safe for your body, via a conversation after class. It was clear Revocycle’s goals are altruistic and client-​centered, and the brand itself is top notch.

I can’t say enough awesome things about this place. I’ve taken spin classes before, so I knew what I should expect, but this place was different– in a great way!
On my first day, I was welcomed by Michael, who was very helpful in making sure I felt comfortable on my bike and took the time to explain how everything works. The classes are all slightly different from each other, which I think is great because you get a good mix of music and instructors to keep things interesting. I’ve been to 4 classes so far and already feel a difference in my body.
The music is great– it isn’t too specific to any type of person. So if you’re only into fist pumping techno house music-​probably not your thing. The instructors are very vocal and helpful without being overbearing. They definitely know what they’re doing.
In response to other negative comments about the bikes– Yes, the bikes are different– so they take a bit getting used to, but after my third class, I got the hang of it and it feels great. If you don’t want to challenge yourself and try something new and exciting, then this probably isn’t for you. ;)
HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who wants a great workout!

Don’t come here if you want to sing and dance on a bike. Come if you want a workout that will challenge you in all the best ways. When you leave, you’ll have made new friends without even trying. Bonus.

I absolutely love Revocycle; it’s a source of nothing but positivity in my life! The instructors are so knowledgeable, welcoming, and encouraging. They push you to work hard and improve your fitness level in a way that feels supportive rather than embarrassing or as though you’re under pressure. Every instructor has their own style, level of difficulty, and music, so it’s great to try out different people and see who works with what you’re looking for. It is such an amazing workout and a great stress reliever every time I go. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Would give zero stars if I could. I love cycling and this is not a cycling class. Not a real spinning bike– pretty much they hacked off the front wheel of a street bike and called it gravy. Literally 3 people in the class. Music was horrible. Not motivating at all when the instructor is huffing and puffing. Didn’t talk about form at all or their little computer thing until after the class was done. Waste of time and now I still have to go to the gym. Thank god it was free for the first one or I would have demanded a refund. Don’t waste your time this place is stupid

After a long day at work, when I really don’t think I have energy for ANYTHING else, Revocycle is just what I need! Not only do I get a great workout it, afterwards I feel rejuvenated and energized! The owner is one of the most positive and kind people I have ever met and is so passionate about what he does.
All the instructors are very approachable and helpful with questions about the mechanics of cycling and anything really! It took me a few classes to get used to the free wheel bike, now it is the only kind I will ride!!! One of the instructors asks for songs you like in order to help make the work out really personal for you.
Another great thing about Revocycle is the different challenges for work out goals and it feels great to see your progress on your goal!

I’ve been spinning/​cycling for years. I’d give ZERO stars if I could. 4 people in the class. Boring music. The music even turned off during the class. What a mess. It was a different kind of bike than I was used to. Before the class, the guy fitted me on the bike, but during the class pedaling was super clunky. Never experienced that before and after the class, the girl who instructed said the bike should have been positioned differently. Absolutely uninspiring and waste of time. Never again here.

I got into spin through classes at BurnCycle and decided to try other places around town to see which I prefer. I appreciated the two free classes offered at Revocycle, but unfortunately didn’t feel compelled to go back for the second.
There’s nothing particularly wrong with the workout, but the energy wasn’t there for me. The music was lowkey — not upbeat — and the general atmosphere of the group wasn’t necessarily fun or focused. During the ride others in the room were yawning and just kind of looking around.
When I work out I’m looking for something high energy and calorie burning, and just didn’t feel this was it. This would be a great workout for someone looking to just ‘zone out’ for an hour.

BEST SPIN Class EVER! I don’t think I can say it any louder, or I would. I’ve been spinning for the last 3 ½ years. I’ve been to many locations, endured many instructors, but NEVER have I experienced anything like REVOCYCLE.
The instructors incorporate this amazing idea of mind and body exercise that takes your ordinary exercise and elevates it to a totally new level. This mindfulness leaves you refreshed, energized and ready to go! Never have I had an experience like this one. NEVER.
I pedal to the beat and I have been searching for a studio that uses this as a focal point in the class. The philosophy is the same, instructor to instructor, so no matter when you come in, you’re going to get the same great workout.
The studio is clean, the people are genuinely nice, the bikes work properly and are fitted to you. The room is kept cool with the A/​C turned ON and a large fan which helps to circulate the air. The sound system is great and I haven’t heard a song that I didn’t like yet!
I’ve seen many types of people in here, from beginners on up and everyone is treated with respect. The staff and instructors encourage everyone equally. The atmosphere is not intimidating at all. If you want a great workout, this is the place, even if you’re not a cyclist!

This spin studio is fantastic. I popped in for a class while traveling in Portland, and I was not disappointed. The equipment is top-​of-​the-​line, and the instruction is dynamite, with excellent attention to form, pacing, technique … all the important stuff!
The instructor/​owner got my heart rate really pumping in the shorter class! Felt like I’d been to an hour-​long class at the end, in half the time. I will go again in a heartbeat if I’m back in Portland!

Definitely the most engaging indoor cycling class I’ve taken (both physically and mentally)! And as a group exercise instructor, personal trainer and cyclist I’ve taken a few.
While making a weekend to visit Portland and it’s fine breweries I thought it wise to balance my trip and «earn» my brews by dropping in on a couple of indoor cycling classes. After a a brief search I happened upon Revocycle. Their philosophy and the information on their site piqued my interest. So, I stopped in.
I was immediately impressed with the personal attention and care Michael and the staff provided; ensuring an optimal (yet comfortable) bike fit and introduction to the cycling computer.
The CycleOps bikes with their unique freewheel design are the BEST indoor cycling bikes. They allow (i.e. force) you to utilize all your leg muscles during the pedaling motion. No cruising here!
The instructors with their great class structure and excellent cueing have you engage your mind as well as muscles. This leads to a highly motivating, efficient and effective workout guaranteed to improve fitness, burn calories and leave you looking forward to the next class!
The only thing wrong with Revocycle is they don’t have one in Seattle!
I will definitely stop by again the next time I’m in Portland! Thanks Michael!

6 things I like about Revocycle:
1) No long-​term contract so you can try it out and see if you like it or would do it long-​term.
2) Has an entry point for people who are just beginning an exercise routine. You don’t already have to be fit to start cycling. The instructors help you at your level.
3) The instructors are patient and inspiring.
4) Classes are offered at convenient times, including lunch hour.
5) The facility is comfortable and clean
6) You can go at you own pace.
7) I know I said 6 things, but I want to add a 7^th. I have osteoarthritis in my back and Revocycling a few times a week has helped reduce the pain and given me more range of motion. This might not work for everyone, but it’s actually a perfect workout for me.

Good music + sweaty cardio + a dark room = Revocycle
It’s the best workout I have had in forever! The owner is personable, the bikes are comfortable, and the instructors are motivating! You can go nowhere else to find that atmosphere. It’s just the best, most fun 50 minute workout you can get. I’m addicted, no question. The energy is infectious. The few pounds that I have been dying to get rid of are peeling away!
Thanks for bringing this home away from home to my neighborhood!
