New menu focusing on the standards — my favorite is the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon added. The side salad is nice, fresh, crisp romaine with carrots. The rest of my party ordered burgers or the sandwich special. Mac side is yummy. Lots and lots of beers to choose from. Big screen tv with couches for adults only… great spot for a Blazers or Timbros game. They cater for birthday parties in house with a decent pizza too.

Living in the area, I’m very happy to have this place in the neighborhood. The food is better than your standard bar food– big fan of the burger and chicken sandwich. The entertainment is also worth the trip if you’ve never been, as it’s pretty neat watching the riders while you drink a beer. They have drink and food specials during the day but the prices are pretty reasonable anyway. All things considered, it’s a unique experience that will have you coming back. Also cool if you want to drop the kid off and watch the game, TVs in the pub is a plus.

Not gonna lie… This place is pretty cool. Not sure how many times i’ll return as I am not a trickster bike rider but for the people who are, this place is exactly what you would need. Full bar, food, indoor bmx park… etc. Perfect for rainy portland.

The most interesting facet of The Pub At The Yard is the nonstop immersive sideshow of the indoor BMX bike park(The Lumberyard) that houses the pub. Especially for kids, this makes for fascinating atmosphere. The restaurant is somewhat misclassified as BBQ, having no such staples on its menu. It’s better classified as straight pub fare: burgers, wings, tacos… The burgers are decent, distinguished by pretzel rolls, but overpriced at $ 9+ where $ 6.50 might be more appropriate. The fish tacos were a nice surprise: simple, but perfectly moist.

As a resident of the neighborhood, I can’t describe how happy I was when the Lumberyard opened up, and to have a pub integrated into it which actually serves good pub food(not like the typical bowling alley snack bar at all) is a huge plus. I’m not a bicyclist myself, but I always enjoy watching people doing stunts and playing around, so it’s a great alternative to big-screen TVs to be able to watch people(many of whom live in the neighborhood, too!) riding around the bike ramps and doing tricks. I think this place is a really excellent addition to the scant offerings in Madison South neighborhood. The Pub at the Yard has gone through some evolutions, and I think that some of the negative reviews below were left during that phase of growing pains. It’s not easy to open a restaurant and build /promote a bike park all at the same time! At this point, the Pub has just renovated their menu to address some of the issues that have existed previously. I’m sad to see them go, but they no longer offer their delicious tots featured in a few of the photos on this listing. But they have transitioned to shoe-string fries which are absolutely delicious, so I am only sort of bummed about this change. They’ve recently added a veggie patty that you can sub in on any burger /sandwich, which is great. This is not a 5-star restaurant, it is the pub at the yard. And their food rivals most other pubs that I’d go to at the same price point, and is better than many. I love the chicken cesar wrap. The service is a little strange, for sure, but you just have to go with it. The servers are real people and they interact like such. The place is casual, and you’ve got to be prepared to make yourself at home almost like you’re visiting a friends’ house. If you come in with that expectation, you will soon feel that this is the truth; you are among friends. Even though I’ve been there only half a dozen times or so over the past 6 months, the various staff have made an effort to learn my name. They ask for feedback and genuinely want answers. I’d take this service over boring but proper service any day. It allows for a certain level of community that isn’t found at a lot of places. I hope people in the area continue to give the Pub at the Yard a chance and nurture it through it’s growth phase. With it’s community-minded management and staff and it’s cool mission and vibe, it’s got the potential to be something extremely special for Madison South.

My girlfriend and I bought a groupon to Pub @ The Yard and used it the other night. We were very satisfied with the appetizers. The quesadilla with chipotle ranch was amazing and the chili cheese tots were pretty good(although they could have been warmer). So we were pretty stoked when our entrees came out. I got a Bunyan Burger with no onions(because I’m allergic, which I told the server). So what do I find? Not only do I bite into my burger to find that there are onions all through the meat, but it’s raw not too far from the middle. So I leave without saying anything(because it was a groupon and I don’t like making a scene) and proceed to spend the rest of the night in misery puking at my girlfriends house. Thanks guys.

Awful! Awful! Awful! I watched them pour Safeway dressing into their bottles after we ordered– first red flag. We got the smoked chicken & pulled pork– both were God only knows how old & simply reheated with cold spots throughout. The chicken was bone dry with cold, gelatinous fat in the joints. The rub was bizarre and tasteless. The sausage fest? No fest my friends– sad gathering. The tots were so over fried there was zero trace of a potato! The pork. Just plain gross. The best part of the meal? our 2 cokes. This is the worst meal I’ve ever paid money for. Groupon– you owe me!

PATY is an expansion of Lumberyard Bike Parks which we didn’t realize until after we walked in on a quiet Monday evening. The bike park itself is a really neat place for kids /young adults to bike ramp & for spectators to watch while seated in the pub. We ordered the yards ‘o’ nachos($ 8.95), smoked chicken with tots($ 12.95) & a chicken ranch sandwich with tots($ 8.95). I was underwhelmed with it all. The nachos had a few diced tomatoes & onions, two types of shredded cheese, black beans & a dollop of sour cream. For what little toppings & what little flavor the nachos had they shouldn’t have been anywhere near $ 5 let alone $ 9. My chicken ranch sandwich was missing ranch & it contained processed cheese. I peeled my chicken pieces off the cheese & ate it as finger food rather than a sandwich. The tots were the best thing & even that was just only okay. My bf liked his smoked half chicken with homemade BBQ sauce but I think it’s more because he was hungry & didn’t care whether it was good or not. The service was good but I would’ve preferred not spotting the cook after I started eating. There’s happy hour from 3pm-6pm &9pm to close with prices starting at $ 0.65 cents(one jackelope wing) to $ 3.95, i.e. yards ‘o’ nachos. Bring the kids, or yourself, to try out the bike yard but save your money for lunch or dinner elsewhere.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Not only is it within walking distance of our house, but the atmosphere and quality of the food keep you coming back. Since moving to this neighborhood a year and a half ago, my husband and I have been hoping a place like this one would open and become ‘our’ place. Our Cheers, Winchester, etc. The Pub @ the Yard is that place. We can’t wait to bring all of our friends here! Keep up the excellent service!

Food was horrible. I could have made the 9 $ sandwich I had. My boyfriends burger was aweful. It looked like mystery meat. Horrible service also. I would not recommend eating here at all. Thanks groupon for giving us a horrible meal.
