Portland Eye Care

The first thing Dr. Adelman did after the appointment for correction was hand me a copy of the prescription. No other optometrist has ever done that. It was really cool, because it wouldn’t have been awkward at all if I didn’t like, or couldn’t afford the frames! But it wasn’t at all awkward anyway, because Portland Eye Care carries super cute, quality, frames that are a good value. Dr. Adelman also has a very nice assistant who makes fitting easy. She adjusted them once and done – out the door with cute glasses and I can finally see and read. He also gave me plain old bifocals when my former eye doc would not. And they’re still cute glasses even though they’re bifocals. Yay Portland Eye Care! OH! I almost forgot. He has a great machine for the glaucoma test – NO PUFF OF AIR!!! :) The whole exam was fast and not annoying in any way – he’s very nice.

Changed eye glass insurance so my new provider recommended me to come here.
Pros:
— I really like the optometrist I saw. He actually spent a good deal of time during my check up and I didn’t feel like rushed cattle. I really appreciated that.
— The optometrist was very easy going. I told him exactly what I needed and he pretty much got me all my prescriptions I wanted. Laugh that this is the basic tenant of going to an optometrist, but a lot of places hem and haw when you ask for certain things. For example, I’ve been to Eye Care clinics where they would not «prescribe» certain brands of contacts, because others are better… etc etc
— Staff was super friendly. Was a little early but they got me coffee and helped me with everything.
Cons:
— The frames at the place are super nice apparently (I know nothing of frames) but are insanely expensive. Even with insurance which covers up to a certain amount, out of pocket, the frames would have set me back more than just buying a generic frame from Costco.
— Staff was also a little pushy on selling me frames and ordering contacts. Although after I told them I would hold off they haven’t contacted me since.

The service is amazing! As a visitor of PDX I randomly stumbled upon the shop, in desperate need of some new contacts. Luckily, the friendly staff had my exact prescription and offered me a complimentary pair! I was so grateful and blown away, I will surely be back here next time I’m in the area! Thanks!

Great office and doctor! Very professional and cooler eye glasses and frames than anything I’ve seen in New York or LA (just took a month long road trip from one to the other.)
