The building seemed great until I showed up with a moving crew, a packed trailer and two cars full of stuff and the elevator wasn’t working. Absolutely no way to move in. The staff person there was rude and unapologetic about it, which makes me wonder if that happens often. This fiasco caused me significant financial and time expense since it was a Sunday afternoon with no other storage building offices to go to.

This is a great place to store your stuff. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They allow you to use a van as part of your move-​in deal. The office is also open every day of the week. I’ve used other storage facilities that did not have this luxury. I really can’t ask for more. Pearl storage has everything I want: helpful staff, secure building, and adequate parking.

I stored all of my stuff from my dorm room over the summer here. The staff at the front desk was very helpful when my mom and I signed the paperwork. They showed us the unit before we signed any paperwork to make sure it was the right size.
I was then able to pull around into their covered area where we could unload all of my stuff. In order to get into the covered area you must use the code along with the elevator which made it feel that my stuff was going to be safe. They monitor everything on cameras. The lock they require is a circular lock and so if I ever need to store stuff again I can use that lock again.
It was really nice that we had access until 10 at night because when I was adding more stuff it was usually pretty late and I would get out of there right at 10.
The payment system was very easy it just got withdrawn from my account the first of the month I didn’t have to go down to pay every month which was nice.
Overall I really think these guys do it right.

Yesterday we called Pearl Self Storage to do nothing other than obtain a storage unit. The after-​hours call center walked us through everything, told us to bring our own lock and to get our locker assignment through the kiosk outside the office. Seemed easy enough, despite the kiosk buttons frustrating the hell out of my significant other.
We go to lock up our unit… and the locker needs a specific cylinder lock.
We immediately call the after-​hours service number. They advised us that Home Depot sells the type of lock we need.
We go to Home Depot.
Home Depot does NOT sell the lock we need. Turns out in fact, Pearl Self Storage is the only place that sells the type of lock for their storage units… during office hours.
This experience was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of our Sunday afternoon. I am highly disappointed and do not recommend this place to anyone.

This was my first time renting a storage unit and I was a bit nervous since most of them look like something out of a Stephen King nightmare, dark, creepy, dank. Well I am happy to report Pearl Self Storage is none of those things.
I rented a unit large enough to hold a 1 bedroom apartment amount of furniture and my unit was very clean, spacious, and affordable. The hallways are lit and the storage units are temperature controlled. Due to the coded entry only on the facility and the elevator, I felt a lot safer when dropping off/​picking up items. At no point was I shivering in fear that a crazy clown with a knife would appear around the corner.
The staff are also very helpful to make sure you get the unit that will fit your stuff. I especially appreciate the covered garage where you can drive in to load/​unload easier. They have an array of carts as well to help you move stuff around. I was very pleased with my experience there and will use them again should I need to store more items. They are aces in my book and that says a lot because apparently, I am wicked critical.

Avoid this place if you can. The little redheaded teenage girl was rude and arrogant.
Whoever owns this place needs to do themselves a favor. Fire this person and hire someone who can be helpful and courteous. There are many people looking for work who would appreciate a job.

Rented a uhaul from this place, and they far exceeded my expectations. They were accommodating, flexible and helpful — super easy to work with. Best uhaul experience by miles. Paul and Julie gave great service.

Pearl Self Storage is an indoor self-​storage facility located in-​between the Pearl District and Northwest neighborhoods of Portland.
The loading parking area itself is secured which helps give you piece of mind when unloading your valuables. The freight elevator is also secured, and your pin number will only allow you access to the floor where your unit is located. The premises has 24 hour recorded video monitoring; you can plainly see this for yourself in the front desk area. Access to the facility is available until 10:00 PM.
The units themselves are solidly built, with rolling overhead doors and metal walls. They use a lock cylinder assembly that they supply — this design doesn’t appear to be vulnerable to a bolt cutter attack like a standard padlock configuration. Fire suppression is built right into the unit.
My last storage unit at a Public Storage facility had a door locking assembly that looked like it could be broken in a matter of seconds with a crowbar, and used a padlock. Plywood separated the units.
Another plus is that with most units being located indoors, they are climate conditioned by default. Other self storage facilities will often charge extra for this feature.
The customer service when leasing the unit was excellent — the only downside to the experience was the large amount of paperwork that was required to actually lease the unit.
This newer facility is clean, attractive and secure; it is one of the nicest self storage facilities that I’ve seen.

I’ve used a few different storage places over the years. Pearl Self-​storage does it right. New facilities with drive-​in loading and unloading. Video monitored, keypad entry, and great staff. It’s been so great and easy.
