Took a recent trip to Germany and came back craving a Doner Kebob. Why aren’t there more places like this in Portland? Got the classic Doner Kebob and it was just like I remember. Fresh made bread, yogurt sauce, tender lamb… Yum. I’ve tried to explain how good this is to my friends but I’ve realized there is no equivalent food or place here in the states. I could eat here breakfast, lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.

The meat was really dry. I think I got the strips of lamb that have been spinning for a while. Some were even crunchy. The whole sandwich was big but not crafted carefully. It probably would be better if it was shaped like a gyro. And it also had very little amount of sauce. The area is pretty cool and the whole pod is nice. Caspian kebab in downtown is way better if someone wants something similar but done right.

Franziska has gone to great lengths to recreate an authentic Döner in Portland! It is the closest thing you will find in the US… the only thing missing is the Ayran! We really loved meeting her and savored our delicious Döner.

Tasty lamb doner kebab but I waited 15 minutes to eat it and the meat had dried out by then. Also felt kind of nauseous afterwards. Hard to say whether it was the kebab but don’t think my morning oatmeal was the culprit. Portion was huge so $ 9 seemed reasonable(maybe a tiny but pricey). Would probably head back, but hate getting nauseous after eating so I think I’ll pass

So tasty. Got the döner kebab with lamb and it was huge. The bread, THEBREAD… nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Seriously like a pound of lamb and some amazing yogurt sauce. Loved it LOVEDIT.

I’ve eaten at this place a bunch of times now, and have really enjoyed everything I’ve had. The gal who runs the cart is from Germany, and though döner is technically Turkish, it’s the classic street food of Germany, so she knows her döner(Ich habe döner in Berlin gegessen, und ihrs ist sehr authentisch!). The Mediterranean pasta salad is excellent as well. The cart pod itself, Piedmont Station, has covered seating, big screen TVs that often have whatever Blazers, Timbers or Mariners game might be on, and there’s a beer/wine/cider cart to boot. Fun spot, with awesome döner and libations!

Super authentic, extremely tasty Döner! Took me right back to Germany. My new favorite food cart in Portland(other than my own, of course!)

I can’t be totally sure cuz I haven’t tried döner everywhere, but I’ve tried a lot of döner outside of southern Germany and I’ve aaaalways been disappointed. This was a completely different story. The meat, the sauce, and the bread were all on point. They’re even served in the lil baggies with the inexplicably Italian lookin chef dude shavin döner. SOGOOD.

The lamb doner sandwich was amazing, will definitely be back for more! Was a little hesitant at first since it was $ 9 just for a sandwich, but it was well worth it! The bread is homemade, all ingredients are natural, it was full of delicious meat, and most importantly it filled me up!

Great flavors; super satisfying(: In fact it’s probably the most impressive food truck food I’ve had in Portland. The owner is actually German and is so sweet and welcoming. Come check this place out!

It’s a great tasting Doner Kebab, but inconsistent when it comes to portioning. My first visit there was hardly any meat in the kebab. I felt cheated after paying 9 bucks for basically salad on bread. Second visit was better, but still not bursting like a proper German style kebab. But, it is tasty and fresh. B+.

Just went tonight after driving by and spotting the sign. Nice little cart pod and the döner are just as I remember from nights out in Germany and France. And most importantly, it’s none of that Kronos reconstituted meat crap so many others sell as döner/gyros. Thank you for being here in Portland, especially since a trip back to Germany is not in the cards this year!

To preface: I’ve had some damn good döner in my life. I’ve been having a döner craving since my last one in Trier, this totally hit the spot. It was like I had popped into my favorite döner hole in the wall in Trier or wittlich. Will definitely be returning :) it was filling and delicious and the yogurt dill sauce wasn’t too overpowering. Just wish it was closer to home.

The woman working the cart was so nice even though we strolled up about a half hour to close after what she reported was such a busy day, she only had two breads left! Perfect! The Lamb doners were so, so, so delicious and full of flavor! She grills and/or warms the meat to order and I love that her bread is homemade, so it’s not that dry, powdery toughness that some processed bread pockets can be. We had the doll yogurt sauce with spicy sauce on the side — I completely suggest you do this. Not to gauge the spiciness per se, the spice is pretty mild, but because the two sauces work so nicely together. With all the vegetables like cabbage, lettuce and tomato, it was plenty filling and felt like a really healthy treat! I don’t have much else to say other than I can’t wait to go back and get my flavorful meat pocket fix from this cart again soon!

My first time to the Piedmont Station pod, and a glorious one it was. When I came on a Sunday(probably right around noon), only a couple of carts were open. Luckily, Donerland was. it’s a husband-and-wife owned cart. Franziska(from Germany) has the impressive chef experience and is usually the one inside the cart. In addition to kebabs, the menu also has salads(i.e. doner salad, Mediterranean Pasta salad). DONERKEBAB($ 9): Probably the finest doner I’ve had so far. The lamb is on a spit(I saw it to the side on the counter) and remained quite juicy after being sliced off and put into the sandwich. And yes, a fairly generous amount of meat is placed in there. Fresh vegetables, a lovely yogurt-dill sauce, and a dash of dried Aleppo pepper seasoning. Aleppo chiles are mild and akin to a spicy currant. I don’t see places using Aleppos too often, and I wish more places would incorporate it somehow. There’s covered seating and a beer cart at this pod. Mmm, beer. Lots of street parking, and credit cards accepted. Head over to this spot and enjoy the food.

Best Doner Kebab in the Pacific Northwest! Homemade bread. Tasty, succulent meat, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cabbage, topped off with a delicious yogurt dip sauce. The taste of Germany. Thank you. We’re definitely coming back.

Franziska and her food are the best!!! omg omg omg omg OMG the doner and salads are OUTOFTHISWORLD incredible. The ingredients are so fresh, and everything is made with care and love. The warm bread is to die for, and the yogurt sauce, and all the rest of it. Do yourself a favor and visit Donerland and Franziska a visit; you won’t regret it!

Just stopped in and got a Doner Kebap. I love lamb but don’t cook it at home because it’s too much effort so this is the perfect fix. It’s a nice size so I’m sure you’ll be satisfied after you eat one. I like that the flatbread is baked fresh so you know there’s no nasty preservatives to maintain shelf life. I got the white(tzatziki) sauce but next time I think I’ll try it with both the white and spicy(red) sauce. I read others thought it was salty, but I didn’t think that at all. The owner was very friendly and is actually from Germany.

The outside of the bread adds a nice crispy texture and when you get to the bottom the pita is chewy. Yumm! The food cart looks super clean and everything taste fresh. I definitely prefer this food truck over the chain-like ones serving kebabs. The lamb taste fresher and not as processed. The owner was very friendly and is actually from Germany.

We have been to Germany quite a few times and absolutely love some good Donor Kebabs, so when we saw this food truck we just had to give it a try. It was well worth the trip. All her ingredients are fresh and delicious, and the kebab meat was perfect, exactly like it is in Germany. Will definitely go back!

On my very very first trip to Portland, I am delighted to see food pods, which are commonplace and scattered throughout the city. The Bay Area in which I live has very few establishments like this, instead opting for moving food truck events. I rather like these cute little neighborhood carts/trucks/shacks. I was searching for a delicious, quick lunch and craving some delicious meats and veggies in a combo that wouldn’t be too heavy. Enter PDX Dönerländ. The owner was incredibly friendly and let us take our time perusing the menu. I ordered the döner salad with chicken($ 9). The yogurt was cold and tangy. The tomatoes were fat, juicy, and sweet. The mixed greens were fresh. There was plenty of delicious meat too! The only thing I might suggest is to dial back on the dressing a bit, as it collected into a watery pool at the bottom of my salad and was altogether rather salty. I had a bite of my friend’s lamb döner kebab($ 9) with the made-from-scratch bread and it was delectable and full of meat as well. Altogether, lovingly prepared and delicious food! PDX Dönerländ is located in the Piedmont Station food cart area at the cross section of NE7th Street and Killingsworth. Look for the gas station sign that still reads $ 1.14!

My friend took me here after he was raving about how amazing this place is. As a vegetarian I was weary since I haven’t had much luck with German foods. I got the veggie Döner and it was amazing! Possibly one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The falafel is so tasty and the bread is made fresh. I recommend it with yogurt and red sauce.

The owner is authentic and friendly. She serves up a seriously good döner kebab. My only critique is how heavy on the salt the bread, meat, and sauce were. Maybe we just hit it on a salty night(I lean towards liking salt). I will definitely give it another go soon!

The doner kebab is top notch. Local, organic produce(even heirloom tomatoes), quality meat, and amazing housemade bread. Definitely the best doner kebab I’ve ever had and one of the best sandwiches in PDX guaranteed.

My boss was so thoughtful to bring delicious kebab flatbread sandwiches and salads in for an office lunch. Everything was beautifully prepared and perfectly seasoned. I can’t wait to visit the cart in person. Truly tasty stuff!

This new food cart on killingsworth stands out at first sight. The menu has the German doner sandwich on fantastic homemade bread. The owner is a super nice person that will explain the great origin of the sandwich and all about the history of the great food. I will be frequenting this great cart that is located in the new piedmont food pod.

This cart just opened up in the new Piedmont Station food cart pod(NE7th and Killingsworth). They have the original doner kebap as well as vegan and vegetarian options. I talked to the owner, she was super nice, and she let me know that they serve all organic and local ingredients– and it was super tasty! They also have some salads for the gluten free crowd(I love me some bread, but I’m sure I’ll try a salad at a future visit– they looked pretty yummy). Stop on by and check it out!
