This is the spot tho, people in Portland don’t come cuz it ain’t no Roscoes or Waffle House but Oh my god, Oh my goodness yall… Oh my god I swear if the portions weren’t so big i don’t know what I’d do! They give you a dumb big omelet the size of my torso man idc if I’m skinny and then, that thing came with not one no, no but 2 hot cakes man, 2… What… Like huh?! And they were all good. Hot cakes the size of heads and no one is in here man what! This is that crack spot come on Portland!

Nothing fancy or hipster here… just amazing great breakfast food! Do not let the look or location of this awesome little diner intimidate you. Walk on in and just try to decide what to eat from many great choices… order at the counter as you watch the potatoes and pancakes and omelettes prepared before your eyes. The hash browns are grated fresh and fried crispy good. The eggs Benedict served only on weekends was so fresh and best I ever had. They even make their own maple syrup. The ambiance is eclectic Portland and you might hear heavy metal music mixed with country! We loved it. The meat lover omelette was so full of meat it could not be finished! Portions are huge and the pancakes are the size of a plate but so light and fluffy. Nice to have a saturday brunch we didn’t have to wait an hour to eat! Hot cake house has been around many many years and is open 24 hours a day… what a treasure!

This is the best place to come after a late night out! They are open 24 hours And have a wide variety of food not just breakfast. They are pretty cheap and have specials all the time. I had ultimate hash browns for like 10 bucks. If you haven’t been i recommend trying at least once!

This place never disappoints. Best pancakes in town, best omelets, ice cold milk. What more do you need???

Great place to come if your looking for a good old fashioned greasy spoon. You wait in line to order, and witness the already placed orders cooking as you get hungrier. Luckily I had done my Unilocal research the night before and had already decided what I was going to order. Hard decision turned into just a waiting game. Ultimate hash browns, no ham, gravy in the side. The plate was huge. The potatoes were chipped instead of shredded which was awesome. Bacon, links, bell peppers and onions. They remembered my request of gravy on the side and no ham. I could have used another sausage link and 1 less slice of bacon. The ambiance of the establishment… Think 1960s diner. Basic laminated tables with a few that wobble, glitter red diner chairs. Nothing memorable on the walls in the back room(where we were able to find seating) and windows. Not a place for the health conscious or if your looking for something fancy, or if you possess the refined palate. Little better then Denny’s, but still a good diner breakfast.

The dive of all pancake houses, it delivers all night with the never boring drink annoying hipsters that flood this place. I love it when I have the patience. The food is consistent, the Philly steal sandwich is amazing, along with their hot cakes of course. If you can make it earlier than midnight, you’ll best out all the annoying drunk/drugged up people, but it’s a staple and my go to, so forever I am loyal. The staff is excellent and they do a decent job of cleaning up after all customers, hats off to you all who work here, for putting up with all the jerk offs. I love this place, highly recommended.

It is what it is… a divey place open 24 hours that caters to a very interesting crowd. Been here at 2am and 2pm and you’ll see many different types of people. First time I went, someone was bolting out the door to puke in the parking lot. Overall you get great portions for a good price and they have a lot to choose from. It’s not the best quality food but that’s not what you come for. It’s definitely very Old Portland that we are losing more and more each year. Here’s to this place being around for a while before they build condos!

This place just has Portland written all over it. If you’re looking for a great, greasy breakfast at a quality price, look no further. I had the T-bone Special which includes toast, hash browns or hotcakes(get the hotcakes), two eggs, and(of course) a 16 oz t-bone steak cooked to order. With a unique paint job, this restaurant is very easy to find near the Ross Island Bridge. It is also open 24 hours!

Breakfast Heaven!!! We have gone there for decades. Never get tired of it. Pancakes as big as a frisbee and beyond the idea of delicious. The hash browns should win blue ribbons. Don’t even get me started about the omelets. If you want fine dining, perfect presentation and classy wait staff go somewhere else. If you want 5 star diner breakfasts, this is Mecca. After 10:00 am on Saturday or Sunday, expect to stand in line. Don’t worry about the greasy spoon atmosphere. Your mouth won’t even notice after your first bite.

This place is an old favorite. I know, I know… pancakes = EARLYDEATH. But that fluffy, buttery-milk goodness, with butter and maple syrup(making moaning noises). Their other food I think is kinda mehh… Today I thought I would try something different. I ordered the blueberry pancakes. I wanna say they cost 2.50 more than regular, but I’m not 100% sure. So I just assumed they would be fresh blueberries. After all, this place is know for gourmet cakes. What I got was a cold blob of blueberry pie filling that seemed to come out of a can, on top of my hot yummy pancakes. It was so disappointing! They also did not serve butter, had to ask(who doesn’t want melted butter on hot cakes? Blueberries or not?) Plain cakes from now on for me.

They messed up my order from the start. The employees seemed as if they were high or a little off. I has to tell them 3 times what I wanted and they still brought out the wrong order. There was no apology and they still charged us to change the order to what I originally wanted. The cooks were talking about us when the server went to tell them to change our order. The bacon was over cooked and was extremely dry. The waffle was drenched in what seemed like cold strawberry jam… who wants soggy waffles? Parking was limited(only about 5 spots) Overall, I was not impressed. It grossed me out that the cooks didn’t wear gloves and they were touching everything and cleaning the restaurant at the same time.

My first time in Portland and my first stop to eat was hot cake house! Couldn’t be any more satisfied, to be perfectly honest. You can’t miss this gem. It’s painted in pink and blue colors, you just can’t miss it! Very homey feeling once you get inside. You order your food first, and then you find your seats and they bring it to your table. I ordered the corned beef hash and my boyfriend ordered the philly steak omelet. Warning: these portions are HUGE! I didn’t think they would be, but luckily we came with a huge appetite considering our flight was delayed for an hour. Anyways, the plate comes with your choice of either hash browns, or hot cakes. And 2 slices of your choice of bread. It was very delicious! My boyfriends philly steak omelet came with onions, mushroom, green peppers, steak and of course… cheeeeese! I was very impressed and definitely would come back here when we’re in town! Thank you to the guy that works at enterprise who recommended us this place! It’s definitely a MUST when in Portland!

On looks alone, this restaurant is disgusting. They don’t need a complete overhaul, but the interior could stand to be refreshed. Maybe update the original flooring and countertops; clean the windows and repair broken panes. The place was packed at midnight and we waited a good 20+ minutes for the food. I was discouraged and thought … maybe we should’ve gone to Denny’s or Shari’s. But then the food came out and WOW. The pancakes were excellent and the hot maple syrup was superb. I loved the texture of the hashbrowns(chipped instead of grated potatoes); the bacon was thick and delicious. Food was great. I’d come back for late-night eats with my husband, but this is not family/kid-friendly. It’s filthy and grimy, blech!

After a night of debauchery and great companionship at the nearby Lucky Devil I was directed toward this delightful dining establishment as my best 2AM option in the neighborhood. Imagine my joy when I ordered a burger that came out looking like it had enough head injuries to play in the NFL! The order took so long to get to our table that I think they may have gone to Boise, Idaho and ordered it from a McDonald’s! A burger that had crossed state lines! So cosmopolitan! Now, one would normally think that once this amazing snack was complete that it would be the end of it. Oh, how wrong you’d be! Around 4AM I was able to regurgitate the food in to a toilet bowl of my choice! How lucky for me because that means I could go right back and order some more! I was REALLY hungry now! What a treat! Now I see why runway models do this so much! Thank you Original Hotcake House!

Ok ok, everythings a little greasy, everythings a little dirty, but this old school staple on lower Powell is an institution. Big portions and an all encompassing menu will keep folks coming back even if its not perfect. Show up with a slight buzz or a little(or alot) tipsy like most everyone else and I am sure you will find something to love.

I came here Saturday morning… It seems like this is the new destination for Beavertron families and by that I mean ‘kids’. A kid here or there is perfectly fine, but when they’re everywhere and they’re screaming and crying… ugh. *If your kid is screaming or crying: REMOVETHEMFROMRESTAURANTIMMEDIATELY. You wanted them not me.

Open 24 hours. Hotcakes: okay(if you get it with strawberry, they give you a lot of sauce and it has a jam-like consistency) Onion rings: greasy Chili cheese fries: chili was okay but fries were greasy and soggy

Hot off the grill, greasy breakfast! Is was awesome! I was happily surprised with the food! Yummy stuff. Good ol breakfast that tasted great. The meat omelette was amazing… Packed full of meat. The hotcakes are nice and sweet! I really have no complaints… Little bit of a dive… But that is the nostalgia of the place. Can’t wait to come back!!! This placed is packed and lots of kids here on a Friday night… they know where to get big portions for a great price! Nice job cooks!
