THEPLAYAREA — The play structures are interesting to look at, at best. There isn’t much for the kids to really interact with. It’s a really small area to play, maybe a 14×10 ft area, so it’s not good if you have a big party. FOOD — I was very disappointed. Their Panini’s are glorified chicken salad sandwiches that was pressed in a panini press. So I would steer clear of you do not like your chicken to be the consistency of tuna. PRICE — I don’t like their pricing system. It isn’t by age. If your baby is crawling, it’s $ 4.00. If your child is walking it’s $ 6.50(which is asking a lot for what you get in my opinion). SERVICE — Service was actually great though. Everyone is really kind and friendly. Unfortunately, the service didn’t make up for only 5 minutes worth of fun. RECOMMENDATION — If you want a good place to take your kids, go to Outdoors In in downtown Hillsboro. There isn’t food, but you can bring your own and there is a lot more to do for varying ages. Also babies under 1 are free.

I have been here several times and my kids liked it so I decided to booked my daughters 1st birthday there. Huge success! The staff was amazing. Helped me decorate and anything I needed help with they helped with a smile. Everyone had a great time. Highly recommend for birthday parties or just a place to have coffee and let your kids burn some energy.

Sandy is the best. Makes me a delicious coffee to sip on while the little one tires himself out. How much better can it get?!

I bring my 2 year old here often on rainy days. Tons of fun stuff to play with, totally geared towards little kids(maybe under 4 or 5), which is awesome if you have a timid kiddo who doesn’t like being trampled by bigger kids. They have lots of snacks and a coffee bar and lunch items, so you can stay here for hours! Staff is on top of keeping things clean and always friendly! We love this place!

It is $ 6 cover charge for a small play area with very few toys. Drinks and food are extra. This kind of thing is usually free in public spaces(malls). Beyond the price, it is a nice, small place for *little kids*(under 3 years old). Although they do have a 42 inch height restriction, if your child is anywhere close to it, don’t go. My child is only 40″ and the woman who took our money at the front desk made me feel very bad for coming. She loudly and STERNLY instructed my child not to run or jump or climb because he was so big.(Rather than say it to me, she said it to my kid?! He’s extremely shy of other kids and adults and this really freaked him out.) She was so mean about it, there was a moment where I thought she was going to deny us entrance even though he’s well within the height requirement! Because she was so loud, everyone in the whole café got to witness our rebuke and near denial of entrance based on his 40″. So, yeah, if your kid is tall with shoes on, don’t take him there!

Clean and fun play area for kids. My son loves it whenever we take him! Staff is very friendly and their food is delicious! Price is reasonable for crawlers and walkers… definitely would recommend this business.

We hosted our daughter’s 2nd birthday party here and it was FANTASTIC! All the kiddos had a great time, they allowed us to bring in pizza and our own beverages(adult ones as well!) The gal there, Sara was very attentive. Everyone had a wonderful time! Easy and stress-free. Many of the other parents there expressed an interest in book their little ones’ parties there too! Clean, safe, and fun! What more could you ask for?

I’d never been here before but had heard about. Yeah, so I maybe heard about it 2 years ago and my kids are now 3.5 but I went to check it out anyways. Definitely not a place for 3.5 year olds. Great for ages 6 mos-2. Also a bit expensive for what it is but if I look back on my baby/new toddler mom self I would’ve happily paid their prices for my kids so I could just sit down and have a coffee while they burned down their limitless energy. With my kids being older, it just wasn’t worth it for us. They blew threw that place in 10 minutes. They do have a height limit for the place spaces, but perhaps an age limit would help too. I got some major side-eye from parents who, rightfully so, probably thought my kids were too old for the space. We didn’t stay long. Decent food and coffee options though.

Great spot to let our toddler play while we drink a nice cup of Stumptown. We will definitely be back!

Super fun place for our 15 month old. No beer or wine served & limited food so doesn’t cater as much to parents but there is coffee and a few basic food items. Play areas were great. If this was closer to Portland downtown, we’d go all the time.

A fun little place for the kiddos to run around. Stumptown drip for Dad, extra tripple lowfat salted caramel pumpkin spice cucumberberry frufru blitz machiatto for Mom and 6 bucks for the morning for kids. Likely the only non-restaurant in town that has a breakfast rush. 10am on a wednesday morning and there’s a half dozen kids in the padded fenced off area designated for littles, and ever more gum chewers outside. Aside from the array of noisemakers and colorful stimulus, noise levels are nominal allowing for a decent Unilocal reviewing experience. Although I disconnected the wifi because the G3 connection seemed faster. The staff is very attentive and the climbable structures were being wiped down within 10 minutes of us arriving. We actually came here on accident. Thought it was another place we’ve been to about 6 months ago and went to the wrong place, but will likely be back anyways.

This place is great for LO who can crawl and walk. The staff was very kind and tolerable to the commotion. The coffee was pretty good too! A little hectic with so many kids running around but from what I hear it isn’t always so crowded.

Great place to take the kiddos on a rainy day. The facility was clean and they had single use wipes on the tables for use. The owner was really kind in explaining the rules for play and the food and beverages they had available. Unfortunately, we had just had lunch before coming to play but will definitely try some of their offerings on future visits. Nice safe environment for little ones to play in. Will definitely be back!

Overall, this is a great place to take your little ones! Great environment and helpful staff. The only thing I would encourage them to update are the toys. Certainly smaller than most indoor play gyms but was perfect for my 14 month old son! I appreciated the«under 42 inches» rule. Not once did I have to worry about my toddler getting trampled or knocked down. We spent 2.5 hours there and not once did he stop to eat or sip some water. By the time we got home he was so pooped he napped for 2 hours!

I tried Munchkin Playland due to there being a Groupon for it. Given the age restriction, I thought it would be a place where my lil’ man could play safely while being moderately supervised while I sipped on some coffee. All-in-all, I really wasn’t all that impressed. Perhaps I expected more than I should have. My lil’ man, who was approximately 1 ½ at the time, and I didn’t stay long since he seemed to lose interest in the establishment shortly after we arrived. While initially excited about climbing on the few structures they had, after climbing a couple of times on each, he was ready to leave. His quick disinterest could likely be attributed to the fact that he was already accustomed to playing with older kids on play structures that could be considered more challenging. I can’t say much about the food or beverages as we didn’t stay long enough for me relax and purchase one. Perhaps this is an establishment that is better suited for the newly walking kiddo than for a toddler that has been up on his feet for a while. However, with all that said, the play structures are very adorable and seem to be made of a safe material. Additionally, the area is small, intimate and clean with friendly staff. I would suggest more comfortable furniture. But, even with that said, I can see how Munchkin Playland could be a go-to place for parents of younger children.

The toys and equipment are old and worn out. The coffee isn’t that great and the seating is uncomfortable. I had to pay to have my kids crawl around on carpet. I could do that for free at home.

This is a nice play area /café that keeps both kids and adults happy. I’d say that especially kids 1 – 4 years old would have fun here. The play area is a little small so bigger kids might need more space to run around. Our 3.5 year old had a good time. The staff seem to be very fastidious and hard-working. The menu looks good, and I could see the staff cutting up ingredients by hand. My Italian lemonade was fine. Perfect for parents of younger kids to get out and take a little break as the kids play. Four stars. Five stars for bigger food /drink portions and a bigger play area. Ask the staff for the wi-fi login password.

Cleanest play café we have been to! Thanks for that, whew. Stumptown coffee, coconut milk… I’m thrilled! This is our spot! There’s an awesome groupon now too: $ 6 for a 2014 Three-Visit Indoor Playground Pass at Munchkin Playland($ 15 Value)

Portland really needs more places like Munchkin Playland. And not just indoor play areas for kids on all the rainy days we get, but places where you feel your kids are safe while you sip on quality coffee and eat food that doesn’t taste pre-frozen. Munchkin Playland has all these things and more! First off, only children below 42″ are allowed in the play area. Genius! No more worrying that some big kid is going to pummel your toddler while running amuck or going down the slide without caring if there’s a kiddo at the bottom. All the play structures are the kind that you find at mall play areas, so they’re very large and sturdy. Outside of the play area, there are play kitchens, car racetracks, and your typical little tikes-type toys. Most pleasantly surprising(which is ridiculous that this shouldn’t be expected…) is the incredibly friendly and ATTENTIVE staff that work there. They are always checking up on you to make sure everything is all right and *gasp* keeping an eye on the play area at all times! What a concept, right?! Most places just serve you your coffee and pay no attention to the kids. It always helps to have an extra set of eyes on kids playing. Lastly, bathrooms are a parent’s dream — very clean, wipes provided, changing table AND a kid seat(for when you have to go!).
