Spotted their massive tamale bombs for $ 4.50 at the Hollywood Farmers Market and these are the real deal tamales. Moist, thick masa and stuffed with queso y jalepenos! Delicious. Every Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm Montiel’s Cocina serves delicious tacos and tamales. They also have many fresh juices like Horchata, Pineapple, Strawberry Lemonade and Cantaloupe.
The reason I like the food is due to the quality. The tacos have an abundance and breast meat and everything is home made with the freshest local ingredients. I have found myself in line waiting for a tamale and not even remember getting there. Its like going home to eat at mom’s house.
The portions are large. The texture of the tamale is soft, creamy and smooth. These tamales are not greasy or hard. The pork, vegetarian and chicken breast option are all delicious. Its important to go there early because they do sell out. When they do, the tacos are themselves a feast.
They have a variety of sauces: Spicy Chipotle, Spicy Red Sauce and the Mild Green Sauce which can sometimes have a kick too.
You will thank me the second you sink your teeth into this food.
