Missy Lowe Makeup & Hair

I hired Missy for hair and make-​up for myself and my bridal party. We had a test run 4 months before the wedding for my hair and make-​up, and I was elated — it was exactly what I had hoped for. A few days before the wedding, Missy said that she may not have a second person as planned to help with prepping our group of 7 women, but she was perfectly confident that she could do the work of 2 people in the same time allotted. We explained that this is not our agreed upon contract, and she backtracked and said that the second person would indeed be available. The day before the wedding, she went back to saying we wouldn’t have a second person. Again, after we expressed our extreme dissatisfaction with the lack of professionalism in changing the plan the day before the wedding, she said there would be a second person.
As far as the actual work that was done, Missy did a great job on everyone’s makeup. My hair, however, was another story. The final product looked nothing like the trial run, and I was extremely upset. She kept telling me that it was because my hair was longer 4 months later, or that the new highlights in my hair made the hair look different. I finally insisted that take it out and do it again and finally she realized that she hadn’t teased it up the way she did on the trial run. In the end it looked much better than the disaster it originally was, but nowhere near as good as the trial run. If the final product was what she gave me on the trial run, I never would have picked her. To make matters worse, fixing her mistakes cost me the time I was supposed to spend taking portraits with my bridesmaids, which I don’t have now.
If you want a professional — meaning someone who is reliable, consistent, and delivers what they promise — I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Missy is an extremely gifted artist. She recently did my hair and make-​up for my wedding and did an amazing job. I had a wonderfully messy side bun that everyone raved about and Missy managed to make me beautiful — with an absolutely perfect application of make-​up.

i was so lucky to come across Missy. She changed her schedule to fly into town early to accomodate me. She did my hair and makeup for my engagement session with my photographer and my wedding. Missy is extremely personable, accomodating, fair in her pricing, and most of all … talented. On my wedding day she kept me calm and made me laugh as she did my hair and makeup. She diffused all the stress i was feeling and accomodated my family’s last minute requests. my makeup did not budge all day and night and the wedding pics look great. my mom looked stunning! she has a great eye for what will photograph well so you have to trust her, although she will listen to you and do what you ask her to do. I would definitely hire her again and recommend her highly to anyone that needs to look fabulous! and by the way, when i realized my mom and aunt had indulged in a last minute session of fake and bake and their hands were glowing orange, missy had the solution. thanks so much Missy, you are a total life saver.

Ok. So my «friend» (who decided to charge me more then Missy was going to in the end) who was supposed to do my hair and make-​up at my wedding flaked on me three and a half weeks before the big day. I had a minor freak out, especially since I thought Missy was booked after the last time we’d spoken.
Well, I emailed her anyway and it turns out she was free. Hooray! She came over for the hair trial and completely nailed the look I was going for based on a small picture you couldn’t see very well.
The day of she showed up early to set up. She was spunky and fun and had all of us laughing, even through some minor drama with a bizarro bridesmaid (who she very quickly and with no meanness put in line so that she’d behave). She had everybody looking gorgeous and we were all done right on time. She even squeezed in make up for one of my other bridesmaids who decided that everyone looked so fabulous that she wanted to get glammed up as well! She was just about as perfect as could be and I am SO THRILLED with her work. So… I guess it worked out that my friend flaked!

She was the calm in the midst of an Asian storm. With everyone running on «Asian time» and wrenches being thrown into the closely planned time schedule, she was great under the pressure… and record-​breaking HEAT! Every one of the aunts and cousins looked gorgeous, and everyone raved about Missy’s ability to make us breathe and enjoy getting pampered during the chaos. She knew exactly what we were talking about from the vague descriptions we gave her… and she knew how to pull everything together to look seamless. Nothing looked out of place or garish, and we got so many compliments throughout the night! The bride was breath-​taking and you would never have guessed the beginning of that early morning after the make-​up/​hair was done!

Missy is such a great MUA to work with! She is super friendly and helpful with ideas and creativity and all my models love her. She does fabulous work and always listens to what I’m asking for. We work well together to come up with a great look. I highly recommend her for any photo project you have or for your wedding day. You will not be disappointed.

Missy is one of the most fantastically talented people I am lucky enough to know. On your wedding day, you need to trust the person who is doing your hair and makeup. You’re about to pay a lot of money to a photographer and it’d be something of a waste if you looked like Tammy Faye in your pictures (not to mention the emotional scarring that sort of thing would cause). I took a chance on Missy and I really lucked out.
In addition to being a *kick ass* hair and makeup artist, she’s warm, funny, and makes you feel completely comfortable at a time most ladies are stressing pretty hard.
I walked out of the salon looking and feeling gorgeous (if I do say so myself). But perhaps more importantly, my hair took the gale force winds at my outdoor wedding like a champ. Go see Missy. You will not regret it.
