I can’t say enough positive comments about my experiences at Mijn. The space is inviting, calming and soothing. Tess and Anna are both trustworthy. My favorite experience is the signature facial. As someone else noted, its a gift to myself everytime I book an appointment. My skin has improved with continued treatments and I will continue to utilize the very professional and outstanding services offered at Mijn…

Thank you Mijn Image Enhancement for responding and giving me yet another reason to speak my peace regarding your business tactics… As I clearly stated to the owner on yesterdays phone conversation, my daughters school called me literlly 6 minutes BEFORE not«after» the scheduled start time(just another small detail of your mistake) advising my daughter was sick and needed to be picked up. Clearly that was not a «choice» to «cancel» my appointment. And yes, I did understand and still do why that part of the service(the facial) would not be honored. What I didn’t and still do not understand is why the other part of the service(8 lumber light treatments) would be discounted 50%. I am aware that was a «choice» the owner had made. I did appreciate the call in January as indicated but unfortunately my schedule does not and should have to revolve around when you can book the appointment. I did assume being the customer(AKA individual who purchased a coupon for your business-assuming the $ 99 I spent goes into your pocket and not Living Social’s-.) I could choose a time that works best for me — THECUSTOMER — Per the phone conversation in January I advised it was not a good time for me and I would be calling back to schedule the appointment. As I had mentioned to the owner yesterday… I did specifically express interest in taking advantage of the sessions before my vacation in APRIL. Not ONE word was mentioned of an updated expiration date to the end of January. In contrary to my taking $ 50 lightly, obviously I do not or we would not be having this issue. I also wanted to point out the fact that 5 out of the 7 reviews on here would agree with my point of view(which one of the positives was conveniently posted yesterday… the day after the issue). When it’s all said and done I was not the one with the«misfortune» in this situation, due to L/S crediting me for the full purchase value. Thank you for the best wishes, I do appreciate that. I feel I have said my peace. Jennifer

I too discovered Mijn through Living Social. I purchased the 8 Lumiere treatments. Great first impression of the place! Beautiful space, well decorated, complimentary Keurig coffee and water, very relaxing waiting room and very friendly staff. My experience with the light therapy was awesome, saw great results with pigmentation and overall glow. They have you wash your face and then give you serum to slather on. Then you are placed under the lights(laying down). So relaxing with spa music and aromatherapy. They give you a heat pack to put on your tummy. A few times I fell asleep. Afterward, they give you a dollop of moisturizer/sunscreen to put on. You truly will leave with a glow! If anything, the experience itself was very relaxing! I used all 8 treatments fairly back to back. A few months later I was told they were offering 3 more light treatments for $ 65 to prior Living Social-ers. I snapped up the offer and couldn’t wait to go back. This time things were a little different. I arrived with a freshly washed face so I passed on that. But where was the serum to put on? The lady didn’t know anything about serum. I shrugged it off, no big deal. Mentally it just made me feel like it was doing something extra to help my skin :) Walked in the treatment room and they had a new chair-style Lumiere setup. And someone was in it. After the lady told me how much better the new machine was, I was directed to the bed. I was told that the chair was first come first serve, to get there earlier next time. A little awkward in that I am paying for Lumiere treatment but can’t choose to have the better machine. It was fine, the bed is what I was used to and truth be told, way more comfortable and relaxing than the chair! What I didn’t like was being in a room with somebody else! I found myself unable to relax this time, especially after the other client kept sneezing. And because both clients were placed in the room at different times, we finished at different times. Again, I was distracted with the rustling and talking of the other client when she had finished her session. No moisturizer or sunscreen after my latter 3 sessions. All in all, very lovely place, friendly staff. I can’t say that I would return for Lumiere treatments again but likely facials by Tess since I have heard and read so many great things about it!

I bought a voucher via LivingSocial for a mini facial and 8 Lumiere Light treatments. I originally scheduled the facial right away but then had to cancel(with plenty of notice). In November, I called back to schedule about a week before the voucher expired. I was told they were too backed up from all the deals they sold to schedule, but they would put me on a waiting list and call me in the new year to schedule(and my voucher would be honored). In the new year, I saw that they were running a new deal with LivingSocial but I hadn’t heard from them, so I called to inquire. Low and behold about a half hour later someone called to schedule me, pretending that they hadn’t got my message. When I went in, their waiting room reeked of some floral aromatherapy scent that made me gag. The facial was okay but nothing special. One of their«sensitive skin» products made my skin sting. When I called back to reschedule, the owner called me back and said that she would not honor the 8 Lumiere light treatments because of the negative relationship I had established with them. She said she would offer another facial instead. How much sense does that make? When I explained that I wasn’t comfortable coming back at all after what she’d just told me, she said, «That’s your choice. I have a business to run.» When I asked if she was planning to refund all or part of what I’d paid for the voucher, she just reiterated that they would do another mini facial instead. I tried to be polite getting off the phone but she hung up on me. Oh well. I called LivingSocial(who rocks, btw!) and they refunded what I’d paid for the voucher.

Was really looking forward to my treatment here. I purchased a Living Social deal back in June and the next available appointment was 2 ½ months away. 2.5 months of anticipation! The service I’d signed up for was a series of light treatment facials. Have been wanting to try light therapy facials for awhile. There’s a Portland-based company that manufactures a hand-held light therapy machine I’d seen at New Seasons, and I’ve been super curious to see how this works. Figured if it was effective I’d invest in the device. Plus, $ 99 for $ 455 worth of treatment is a great deal! Unfortunately, I was unable to redeem my voucher. I had to bring my kindergartner along for the initial appointment. She’s enrolled in a ½ day school program and I was unable to find a sitter. We filled her backpack with books and video games like we’ve done for countless other appointments — doctor’s visits, dentist & hair appointments, business meetings, etc… Upon greeting me, the aesthetician told me that she could do ½ the service I’d paid for, but would be unable to perform light therapy treatments. I explained that the light therapy was the whole reason I’d signed up! She said that there was no room for my daughter in the treatment room and that we couldn’t leave her in the lobby.(Obviously, I’m not going to leave a 5 year-old unattended in a lobby!). I was told to come back when I had a sitter. I expressed my disappointment, and explained that I’d come all the way out from Tigard. The owner then asked if I needed directions to find my way out. I understand that this office is not set up to accommodate children, but the message was lost in the extremely insulting and dismissive delivery. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. The beauty of Living Social deals is discovering new businesses and developing new relationships. It seems that, based on a similarly negative Living Social experience, this business might do well to spend a little more time working on basic customer relations before offering deals to a larger community.

I wish I had the same experience as the other reviewers — I was really looking forward to a relaxing facial experience. I, like Aya, purchased the Living Social deal for a 75 minute Signature Facial and eyebrow wax. My appointment was at 1:30pm, but I didn’t get into the treatment room until 2:08pm because Tess was running over with her other patient. Tess apologized, which I appreciated, and I honestly didn’t mind the wait because the waiting room was relaxing and they had some great magazines to catch up on with the latest celebrity gossip. Finally, the eyebrow wax started at 2:15pm and the facial started probably about 5 – 10 minutes after that. The eyebrow wax was fine… although I was surprised that there was no trimming of the eyebrows involved. Every time I get an eyebrow wax, they bring out the tiny scissors to trim the eyebrows. That didn’t happen during this appointment. The facial was good, but I did feel that she was rushed during it. When it was over, and I was getting dressed, I checked my watch… and much to my surprise it was only 3:08pm. I was upset that I paid for a 75-minute facial and only received a 50-minute facial. The Living Social deal cost $ 45…had I known I was only going to get a 50 minute facial, I would never have purchased it as it would be an okay deal. I really wanted to like this place — the ambiance was nice, Tess was friendly. However, when you don’t receive the services you paid for, then I feel I really can’t recommend this place to anyone.

Tess is an amazing esthetician! Her space is newly remodeled, tranquil, fresh and well decorated. You walk in the door and instantly feel relaxed. Great product line(Dermalogica) and prices are reasonable too! I didn’t want my facial to end, but can’t wait to come back.
