stay away from the imposter they call chicken fried steak. The steak is grey and soggy, a up of dry flour would a direct imitation of the«pan» gravy. The first rule to cooking eggs is that the whites remain white and not have brown crispy char on the. I have only eaten there once and it was bad enough to kill any chance of returning.

Stopped in for breakfast today and it was delicious. It’s a little crowded inside but there is option to sit outside. The waitresses were very nice and stayed on top of things. My coffee cup was refilled right away the whole time I was there and I loved it. I ordered the scrabble and it was loaded and Very tasty. The crazy juice is a awesome hot sauce they sell and offer for your meal. It’s delicious! My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy, he said it was delicious(shocker, because he’s kinda picky, but that’s between us) A few of the downers. I gave 4 stars because it took a very long time for our food to come to the table and when it did it wasn’t hot like it was fresh. Maybe it had been sitting for a while before it was brought to us. This bothered me because although they were busy it’s not a big place with very few people inside for it to be very busy(max 15 people inside). Also their is no kids menu. I have many children and bringing the youngest and pickiest here wouldn’t be an option. This is one of those places you at least have to try once. It seems like a deli that older local folks come to. I personally enjoy that aspect of it. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone enquiring.

We had coffee and a Danish to start — so delicious! And then we had biscuits and gravy and the bacon waffle — AMAZING! Employees are very friendly and on it.

I think this was probably the worst breakfast that we have ever had in our entire life do not go there! It is very overpriced and it was just some of the most disgusting food and worst service!

This place is a little gem. It’s small, and looks like there are quite a few regulars — as the staff kept calling people by their names. One thing to note — they only take cash, though there is an ATM inside. The food was great — I had Mehri’s Scramble. Other diners’ food looked really good too, and there were a lot of pies near the front of the café that looked tempting! Will be visiting again. Coffee and meal came to $ 14.

We lived around the corner for 4 yrs. Never went in. What a mistake!!! We had omelettes. The creamy potatoes were AMAZING!!! I didn’t get any pastries, but I will be going back for their mini cheesecakes and truffle cupcakes.

This place is small, it’s not polished and it gets busy so you learn to choose your timing. Breakfast is where it’s at. Spot on, perfectly crisp bacon every time. EVERY. TIME. Those deserts out front? They look ok. But they taste fantastic. I love her unusual specials, who ever heard of pork marsala for breakfast? If you are like me, you are not limited to eating«breakfast» foods for breakfast, you don’t feel the need to categorize. If it’s food, you will eat it for breakfast and Mehri gives fantastic choices. Lunch is okay. Sort of an afterthought, but still tasty. Her food is hearty and well done and she is the absolute best. She will take care of you like you’re family and you know that as soon as you walk in the door. If you want to impress your pals, order one of her cakes or pies for an event. BOMB! Key lime pie is basically the best cheesecake in the world with it’s crumbly graham cracker crust and real whipped cream. My only concern is that the coffee is not that great. Considering I need coffee to live and this doesn’t put me off Mehri’s says all you need to know. Second coffee procured afterward. Cash only, there’s an ATM.

My favorite breakfast spot. Get the country breakfast! The bacon is great, the homemade breads are great, the creamy potatoes are great. It’s not a fancy place but the food is phenomenal & the service is great. It’s cash only which is hard since I never carry cash. They do have an atm inside, but it is a bit strange in this day and age. I do wish they offered a stack of pancakes as opposed to a giant stuffed one, but that’s a small complaint.

Food was standard for breakfast. Service was really slow. My friend said it’s usually not like that so must have been an off day.

Mehri’s was recommended by a friend as the best breakfast in town. It was totally serviceable but unmemorable. There are too many amazing breakfasts in this town to scamper back here any time soon.

Delicious brunch! I’ve had the country breakfast twice now(with scrambled eggs and sausage) and I love it. Their sausage gravy has pieces of sausage in it and their biscuits are not dry or too sweet, but their fried potatoes rösti style are my favourite.

WOW. WOW. WOW. This place is exceptional. The baked goods are SO fresh and you can taste the simple REAL clean ingredients. The service was impeccable marhi is so sweet she went out of her way to give us everything we wanted even the ziploc lunch bag of some chicken for my hike!!! The best was the softest and freshest I’ve had since Belgium and being a kid when my mom baked. If you want awesome home cooking, deli sandwiches and yummy baked goods. This is the spot. Period. Blaze on!

Maybe a 4.5 but such a homey feel to the place, radiating from Mehri herself to the different salt & pepper shakers on each table. I wanted biscuits and gravy & don’t feel sweet biscuits appropriate – these are sweet, with a little cinnamon, but well-baked, closer to a scone. Thick, creamy gravy. The creamy potatoes are wonderful. Melba’s cheese & veggie omelet huge & savory. My friend Abby says their chicken fried steak among the best in town. I liked an earlier reviewer’s comment – «the holiest of holes in the wall.» And one can go into sugar shock just looking at the baked goods, all made by them. Even the toast, from homemade bread, is extra good.

Mehri’s is the holiest of all hole in the wall joints in Portland. There is nothing that Mehri the owner and head chef cannot do. From Cinnamon rolls the size of your head to the best country au gratin potatoes this side of the Mississippi you will not leave this place disappointed. Did I mention the Pies? They make the perfect Desserts for that special occasion. It may be a little out of the way and that may be the only thing wrong with this place. Highly recommend!!!

Middle of the road biscuits and gravy with high dollar prices. Friendly staff and quick service. The had some hot sauce other than the standard offerings which was nice. Excellent baked goods. Grabbed a cupcake on my way out.

This place blew me out of the water! We went for late breakfast not knowing what to expect. The restaurant is in a very unassuming building and when you walk in, the environment is very casual. I ordered the country special and finished most of it. It was biscuits and gravy on homemade biscuits, eggs, bacon, and scalloped potatoes. My friend got The cinnamon roll French toast which had walnuts and Carmel and was VERY sweet but so delicious! I Will definitely be going back soon!

So glad I discovered this place! Such a great homey environment, the family is always gathered around a table talking, does not feel like you’re in Portland at all. I’ve been there four times for brunch now and have gotten a special every time. Pork chops marsala with eggs and creamy potatoes, fried chicken biscuits and gravy, freakin’ LAMBSHANK for brunch, etc. You get it. Food is exceptional. Staff is totally friendly and sweet and I always leave with a loaf of their amazing bread or a pastry of some sort. Quaint, friendly, and delicious

What a great spot for breakfast. This little gem is a locally owned café that has been around for quite some time. The owners are on site everyday and they are such fun/friendly people. The menu is pretty tasty across the board. I have been here half a dozen times and due to sharing with others in my party, I have been lucky to sample just about everything. I typically go for the French toast myself — knowing that by trading j can get a bit if the other items. The portions are perfect — not too much and definitely not too small like you might find at many other small café’s around town. The portions and quality being what they are — the pricing is very fair! They also have board games you can play while you wait or after you eat. The husband of Mehri — I forget his name — is an avid chess player and will take the time to play with you and even teach the kids. This place really is a great find for anyone looking for quality food at an affordable price. Do yourself a favor and head in for breakfast sometime’

We love Mehri’s! The food is great, the prices are competitive. The portions are generous. The baked goods are so very tasty. Your breakfast will probably come with cheesy potatoes and homemade bread(so good!) They have outside seating for those lovely days. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I’ve been two times and look forward to my next visit. 1st visit: 2 Eggs and Applewood Smoked Bacon served with cheesy potatoes(I skipped the toast that time) 2nd visit: Wild Salmon Omelet, one of the July 4th specials. Mehri’s is a great neighborhood place. It is charming, not fancy. It’s decorated in what appears to be hand me downs and garage sale finds, nothing matches and no one cares because the food and people are great. Gluten free options are available and my friend said the Bloody Mary was pretty good too.
