Great job overall!
I was in a pinch as over the past weekend I had discovered my alternator had given up it’s ghost. So I called in early Monday morning in hopes of getting a spot for getting my repair done. Not only did they fit me in. But also as I asked for any rental car options they may suggest, they offered me a loaner!
Service was completed at what I felt was a fair price. Also had my oil change and fuel filter replacement while I was there.
I noticed the shop was very well manicured and staff was friendly.
Service manager was helpful and understanding of fitting in what I could within my budget.
Staff was very knowledgeable of common issues with my model 2002 Mercedes C320 wagon and helping me plan a roadmap to keep it running in great shape.
I definitely plan on utilizing MBI for my next service visit.

I inherited a 2006 500 SL in 2012 and I asked my mechanic, Tom Dwyer Automotive, who they would recommend for the same standard of service they provided (they do not handle Mercedes) and they recommended MBI. I spoke with them and they were kind enough to accept the cross country shipment of the car to their shop and do a once over on it. I had no idea what may or may not be wrong with the car, as it was barely driven, and considered it a test of confidence in how they handled it. They came back with a recommendation for new tires (and offered to have it done at a place recommended by my friend) and a new battery. Overall, I was extremely impressed, initially. I’ve chosen then to co-​parent my baby and have had regular service there for three years now and have them do minor elective repairs as I have the cash and time. Their service level is impeccable, as is their workmanship, and they are beyond courteous and helpful. Their prices are reasonable, as well, for what I would expect for such service on such a vehicle. They even recommended Lincoln Street Motors for more extensive body repairs (they handle some). I would, and do, recommend them in a heartbeat.

As a new owner of a classic 450 SL, my search for a service team has come to an end with the discovery of MBI Motors. After asking multiple Mercedes owners and fellow car show exhibitors, a few MBZ shops kept rising to the top. Learning that MBI specializes in older models, plus had complimentary loaner cars and shop hours that can coordinate with a full time 8 to 5 work schedule, I have used their services twice in the past few months.
The facility is clean, well organized and full of autos bearing the silver star plus the coordination with service manager Kevin has been professional, clear and kind. Costs have been quite reasonable and it never felt like being a female was taken advantage of, even when I gave permission to assess the full car for reliability and safety issues.
The high degree of customer service was affirmed yet again this week, as the shop provided a car show preparation engine compartment detailing at no charge.
I highly recommend this repair facility and plan to use their services exclusively.

This place we recommended by another Mercedes owner when I was in town on a business trip. I looked them up on Unilocal and called them. They have a $ 50.00 coupon on their web sight for new costumers who spend more than $ 150.00.
Upon arrival I was impressed by all of the newer model being serviced. The place was neat and clean. The people were very professional, pleasant, and the price was very reasonable.
I gave them by fix it list from my service center in Seattle and they found a few things that were flagged for repair that were not needed. I sure was happy to find a honest place for servicing my E class.
I going to try to have have my work done there whenever I’m in town.

After the Mercedes Dealership sold to Lithia and my Service Manager Chris left to go to Jaguar I knew I had to make a change. I asked around and everyone told me to check out MBI. I have been going there for 6 years now and they treat me like family.
I have never had a problem with any repairs they have completed. They let me use a loaner car. A cool vintage Benz. Pricing is way better than the Benz Dealership and when I go to pick up my car they have done a half detail on it every time. I love these guys. I have taken four of our families Mercedes to them and will continue to do so. By the way the have they same computer diagnostic system as they have across the river, Beaverton and Wilsonville.

This place is AWESOME! They are the most trust worthy, solid, competent outfit in town! I just recently sold my Mercedes and MBI was kind enough to send me my repair history. I have never had a better experience with a repair shop. Thank you!!!

I was referred to MBI by an old friend and owner of a local german based used car boutique many years ago. Since the referral there has been a change in ownership and with the change we lost the warm, accommodating, trustworthy and genuinely sincere mechanic.
The old has been replaced with smug, not friendly whatsoever, higher priced and an almost make you feel bad vibe for being concerned or question about the cost. The first visit the new owner was nice and a little used car swarmy but I thought nothing of it.
The second and third visit I was flat out ignored by the owner. I spent a little over 5k in 7 months and a simple smile and hello would suffice. Hartman Motors has always shot me straight and I also have received good service through Omega Motors, either way, MBI is not the same…

After a crappy experience with them just as the new owners changed, I gave them a second chance. This time, I didn’t work with Brandon, who has been great in the past. The guy I worked with is named Sid and a total salesman-​y guy — not the MBI I’m used to. He first told me my car needed new wiring in the charging system and after they completed that, he then told me that the reason my car broke down was bc of the battery that I had replaced in the prior months. I authorized the new battery but them asked him for clarification when I picked up my car. He then told me that the wiring caused the breakdown, and he just thought it was a good idea for me to replace the battery. Total change of story. When I told him I felt coerced into buying a battery I didn’t need, he told me they replaced my air filter for free — as if that’s going to make me feel better. Goodbye, MBI. That was your last chance.
And a small update — when I got in my car last night, I discovered the radio was not working. After determining that it’s not the fuse, I brought it in this morning and they told me they could do a quick fix and then the next time I came in, do a better, more permanent fix. Knowing that I’m not coming back, I asked them to do the more permanent fix and told them I’d wait the hour that it took. Two minutes later, they came out and told me that the quick fix would be just fine. I think they didn’t want to spend an hour fixing something correctly for free. And they just wanted to get rid of me. They’ll definitely get their wish. This was past the last straw for me.

I can’t say enough nice things about MBI. All repair shops claim to be about customer service but MBI truly is. The first time I had my 2005 C230 serviced there they let me know about an issue which would have cost several hundred dollars to fix but they advised me it was covered by the dealership and referred me there to have it done at no cost. They very easily could have charged me and I would have never known. They continually go out of their way to keep me informed of cost and I never find «hidden» costs on my invoice. They also have a wonderful shuttle service with a very pleasant driver. No better place to take your Mercedes.

Honest mechanics!
I was referred over to MBI for a second opinion on my 1995 E300 that was in need of some serious TLC. They gave me a no B.S. honest assesment, did a little tinkering on my behalf, and then helped me work through whether to put more money into the car, or whether to cut my losses! They weren’t biased or trying to drum up extra work for themselves, just good guys, great service, and very professional.
Thumbs way up.

MBI Motors just added BMW Motors! They already do great work on my families Mercedes and now I can send my friends over there to get their BMW’s serviced.

Went today as a brand new customer, the customer service was excellent, the price was very fair (cheaper than dealership), and the work was MB quality. Corban, the owner, was there and was easy going and someone I feel I can trust.
I cancelled my wife’s MB car service from the dealership and scheduled it with MBI. I plan on just coming here for all future needs. Thanks MBI and Corban.

Yes as good as it gets ! I bought my MB for a good price but I knew I was going to have to put some money into it. I asked around and got nothing but good things said about MBI. I took my car in asked them to go through it. They did. Now I’m a perfectionist and I was very pleased with my E430 when they were through with it. I’m planning on safe comfortable and classy driving for many years to come and will be delighted to give MBI my business, Corbin owns the shop and he takes personal pride in also being a perfectionist I believe he asks that of anyone who works with him. Also this place is a great resource for «outside» referrals tires, glass detail work etc. They are well networked and respected.

This business has been sold. It is no longer your good old MBI. I hope the old reviews can be removed or updated. This USED to be the best place to service your MB. Now it has been sold and things are not the same.

I bought a 1980 300SD diesel about 8 months ago. The car was serviced at MBI by the previous owner. When I bought the car the previous owner told me that water was still leaking into the trunk after MBI had resealed one of the taillights as well as the trunk seal for $ 300. It had been over a year since the work had been done but I called MBI to see if they would stand behind their work. If it lasted 30 years the first time it seems it should last longer than a year the second time. I realize I didn’t bring the car in originally but they weren’t interested in doing any follow up work under warranty. They would «take a look but no work will be done for free». Fair enough. I decided to take it elsewhere.
Months later I brought the car in for them to inspect the throttle linkage because it had fallen loose while driving (fun). I wanted to make sure I put it back together properly and that it wouldn’t happen again. The front desk guy was very nice and courteous. They adjusted the linkage and transmission modulator and the car ran much better. They charged me for an hour of labor which seems totally fair. But while they closed the hood my right latch was bent and broken. They didn’t offer to replace it but just suggested I order another one. It was backordered to Germany and they said they’d call when it arrived. I never received a call.
The next work I had done was to replace the ignition tumbler. They had suggested at my last visit to have it replaced for a little over $ 100 before the key gets stuck and the job becomes a $ 700 one. No problems. Turned it around very quickly. Later that night I started it up and my dash lights weren’t working. I checked and the fuse had blown. Not blaming them at all it’s just always annoying when something like that happens.
The most recent work was to have my brakes bled and the fluid replaced, replace a fuel hose, and replace the glow plugs. During this visit is when I asked if my hood latch had come in. «Uh, yeah it did, sorry about that». Again, no real BIG deal, just annoying. So I asked them to install it along with the other work. I got a call later that them throwing it on for me has turned into them have to bend the frame of the body next to the radiator where the latch catches. That cost $ 76 plus the $ 26 latch means I spent $ 101 because of their initial mistake. When I picked the car up I was pleased to see they had washed it, including the tires, and it looked great. But I got pretty bummed when they pulled it out for me and it wouldn’t shut off. I just kept saying, «I’ve never had this problem». The tech started checking my door locks, heater, etc for vacuum leaks. Then he popped the hood and looked around. Then he went back inside to get somebody else. When he walked away I leaned over and noticed a vacuum hose was disconnected. I plugged it back in and the engine stopped. He came back and asked what happened. When I told him he said he didn’t see that. No, really? So if they pulled the car into their lot after the work was done and it shut off fine, what happened from then until they started it to pull it out of their lot?
The fuel hose and brake work was fine but they installed the glow plugs improperly. Two times after I got it back the car started VERY rough with knocking for about 20 seconds. Then my glow plug light started flashing for 30 seconds. I called them immediately after the second time and made an appointment to have it checked out. In the meantime I checked the resistance at the glow plug relay and noticed that the #5 plug measured incorrectly. I then looked at the glow plug and noticed the nut the holds the wire (the electricity that makes it work!) was not tightened! I could spin it several times by hand. I then tightened it with a wrench and presto, problem solved. When I received a call from them to confirm my appointment to have the glow plugs checked out I told them that I found their mechanic’s mistake and fixed it myself.
So, yes, the place is spotless, they have state-​of-​the-​art technology, a nice waiting room, loaner cars, close to plenty of food and shops on Hawthorne, etc, but for $ 95/​hour, I don’t want any fishy business or inept work. I shouldn’t have to finish their job, pay for their mistakes, or be the one to diagnose the problem correctly before them.

Since Sig left MBI has received a face lift and an attitude change.
I have been pulling wrenches on MBs and other cars for over 50 years but at 70 I am not in the mood for crawling under the car any more.
The last time I took my MB diesel in because of a noise in the front end and an electrical fault the service manager made it clear by his ignoring me that he did not value a thing I was saying.
I used MBI for many years because of their proximity to where I live and then Hartmann Motors because of their proximity to my past job. I am beginning to think the extra drive to Hartmann is not so bad to be treated like a thinking human being who might know a thing or two about cars.
Three stars becauseI have no complaints about MBIs work (that is five star) just their new attitude (that is about one star).

Eehm, I’m not so sure about this place anymore. I did love taking my lovely 82 300D there for a few years, but things have definitely changed. prices have gone up like the price of diesel if ya know what I mean? They charge FULL price for the things they used to throw in for free when you’d go in for a major repair. I think there are most certainly more competent and less greedy shops in town.

The service here is excellent in my experience. The prices are well below dealership cost (though some of their parts have high markup) and they seem quite honest and straight forward. I’ve only once had to return my Benz (a 2000 ML430) for an incorrect repair and they were quick to resolve it. They have crappy looking (but quite reliable and functional) old loaner cars, but hey, they’re free and it’s better than nothing. Their shop is *super* clean and tidy, filled with laser alignment beams and laptop computers and whatnot.
When I recently got an oil change, they also checked all sorts of other stuff on the car, including the transmission fluid, and gave me a nice typed up (not hand written, thank god) summary of issues found, on my final invoice. Very thorough and professional.
On a final note, they once refilled my AC compressor during the hottest week of the year, FOR FREE, just to be nice. They also gave me a free computer diagnostic check, free headlight installation and a discount on cleaning my sunroof gutters, since it didn’t solve my water leak. They even cleaned my brakes to get rid of the squeak, without me even asking. Nice!
This is the only shop my Mercedes will be going to from now on. Best in town, hands down.

Yes, there is a new owner at MBI. Its always scary when things change. Particularly when something is as good as MBI.
I have a 1980 diesel with well over 200 000 miles on it. I drive the heck out of it for my business: all in town miles-​up and down the west hills and short highway drives. I use biodiesel which means keeping track of rubber deterioration in the engine.
When I take it in they note the miles, then help me keep it running and safe. I have my do it immediately list, my next time list and my wish list. The prices are not beyond the norm and I trust these people. I’ve been using them since I bought my car in 2004. They don’t talk down to me and I appreciate that.
My daughter also uses MBI for her 1984 diesel wagon. She calls Brandon and he makes sure to get her in when its an emergency (more than once!) and makes sure her car is fixed and safe. they have been very kind to her and I know they make sure her car is safe.
I love my old car. Thank goodness for MBI. I wish I could find the same kind of trust for a mechanic for my 86 CJ7!

Excellent shop for old mercedes. Ours happened to break down in Portland, 3 hours from home, and the first shop we pulled into recommended these folks. They let us leave the car there while it was being fixed, and kept it for several weeks while we scheduled a trip to come pick it up.
I don’t know much about cars, but I felt that they were fair, the prices seemed reasonable, and they were very matter of fact about what needed to be done. My car drives much better after doing some minor repairs.
