This place is horrid! My husband and I got a little of everything, we usually like to do that at new places we visit. Anyways, food was decent in taste but the two days that followed were the worst days of our lives. We got the worst food poisoning for two days straight. Not the cleanest looking place either.

I have to agree with some I’ve also heard how good this place was. It was my first time visiting with co-workers from here and Japan… but to me, it’s mediocre at best. I’ve had better gyros and most likely not returning… Guess the 13years I’ve been here in the area and not trying it could have only been better by still waiting a longer timeframe. Oh well, guess I learned why I waited so long.

This place has some great things going for it, and a few things that are not so fantastic. I’ll start by saying I’ve eaten here about 10 times, and have visited the bar once. They have some awesome mixed drinks, and in the summer the bartender brings in fresh berries and mint and rocks some awesome mojitos. Other things that are great here are the Greek fries(let’s be real, they’re jo-jo’s, but don’t ever call them that!), the omega sauce is what you dip them in and it’s a mayo-feta concoction that is delish on fries, chicken, and the gyros. They have pretty good fried chicken, but it’s a bit spendy, the chicken strips are alright(a little flavorless), their dolmas are great(especially the veggie dolmas), and if you’re looking for good falafel, their falafel gyro is super yummy. So there are alot of great things about Mad Greek that I enjoy. If you happen to be a meat gyro eater this is not the place for you, you’d be much happier at «The Gyro House» on Baseline(where the meat is fresh and actually sliced from the rotisseries like gyro meat should be). A review on that to come! Here at the Mad Greek you get 2 tiny strips of pre-frozen weird meat that they warm on a flat top. Not good. I’ll end on a positive– they have great sandwiches. However they seem to be a bit egotistical about their food. I can never understand a restaurant that doesn’t allow alterations or substitutions. Sometimes people don’t like an item, don’t eat it for ethical or religious reasons, or they may have an allergy. The Mad Greek thinks you should eat their pita sandwiches the way they make them and that’s it. I personally don’t like turkey or ham, but it’d be great to have the Mt. Olympus with salami instead. And they have this one sandwich with 4 meats Called the«Mad Greek», but they won’t tell you what the 4 meats are. You have to buy it to find out. That’s just plain weird… I believe I have the power here since this is a free market industry… anyway if you’re into someone telling you how your food should be eaten, or you love dolmas and jo-jo’s, eat here :)

Had my monthly fix… their Reuben is the best one I can find in town. They make their own Russian dressing and it is so good. The Greek salad is yummy and another craving I have to get my monthly fix. The service is great. They are so nice. Since I live so close I get it to go and that way I can drool in private

I love the Mad Greek. The food is always great. GREEKFRIES. GREEKFRIES… GREEKFRIES!!! Eat them with the Omega Sauce you will understand. Hot Pastrami, Mad Chicken and did I mention GREEKFRIES? While the food is really good the customer service lacks at times. There tends to be an entitlement attitude with a few employees that can rub you wrong. Place is kept clean huge plus. I am glad this local place did not close due to lack of the building owner not taking care of the building. Last I heard is they will relocate at some point nearby in the future. I would miss the old spot if they did but I would embrace a new location, I just hope it is not to far from the current spot.

I like to frame this place as a dive bar with Greek food. Solid gyro, the lamb had good flavor. However, The falafel plate not worth getting. 5 small, extra dry balls with little flavor. There’s a wire shelf in the back with their stock falafel mixes and seasonings, so I can say I believe the falafel mix I have at home is better. The salad that came with the falafel plate was more of a garnish; a few pieces of lettuce, peppers, olives. As part of the falafel plate, was hummus and tzatziki… in tiny takeout sauce containers. I was sad I paid $ 7(?). On the bright side, the pita bread that came with it was fine. The regular fries(on back of menu with the burgers) are awesome. — Quartered russet potatoes, dredged in a coating similar to the stuff on curly fries. It was more like eating a fried baked potato — big fluffy inside with a seasoned crust. It was tasty but one of my pet peeves is having to deal with ketchup packets at restaurants. I usually love a side of fries to go with my ketchup but I found myself not caring to finish a whole potato. Some things are solid, like the gyro, other things are not so good and over priced, like the falafel plate. They also have Greek fries on the menu but at $ 7, I stuck with the regular ones. If you live in Hillsboro, feel like hitting up a dive, stocked with happy customers for ok food and live music in the evening, this would be a solid choice.

I used to frequent Foti’s on E. Burnside and really liked the food there, and I was in the neighborhood so I thought I’d give it a try. Meh was the outcome. I ordered a Gyro sandwich plate with Greek salad & Greek fried. The counter person insisted I get this Omega sauce with the fries. The salad was way overly dressed. Good vegetables, but absolutely doused. The fries were lackluster, big Jo-Jo like monstrosities that were not very crispy and not super hot. The Omega sauce is a mayonnaise-based fry sauce, but would not stand up to a good garlic aioli. The only good part was the gyro itself; nice warm pita, a good amount of meat, with tomatoes, onions, and tzatiki sauce. Maybe it was an off day. The staff was nice, food not so much.

The good: I really enjoyed the«Greek fries». I also got the falafel which I enjoyed. The bad: A couple hours after I ate here, I got super sick. The person I ate lunch with also got sick. The only thing we shared were the Greek fries with the special sauce.

Zero stars! Been here 3 times and every time they are rude and have bad customer service. The only reason I come here is because my bf loves it.

Right from when I walked in I had a feeling that I wouldn’t like the food. When I opened the front door I was engulfed with a not very pleasing mixture of smells. B.O. was the first thing I could smell and then it was the food, it didn’t smell good. It felt dirty in there, I mean I didn’t even want to touch anything, the air even felt grimy. Now the food. Normally I walk away after what I saw and smell in restaurants, but I was told that the food was good. No, its not. I have had better food when I was deployed to Iraq, the MREs are better. The potato wedges were not good. over cook and water logged. The chicken burger was dripping with an a lot of something and was not very good. The price for the food, to much. All in all I don’t recommend this place, dirty counters and there display case didn’t look like it was cleaned in a few days.

While the folks working there were very nice, my order was wrong. Also, the bathroom door didn’t lock, the falafel was too salty and in general the place didn’t strike me as particularly clean. I prefer to leave a positive review, even if qualified. I just can’t do it. I cannot think of any reason I would ever go back.

Greek fries were designed to carry the Omega sauce! Seriously what is in this stuff? LOVEIT. It looks like nothing from the outside, but once you are inside the door, it’s like no place else! Pondo, the owner is a Greek God, Ryan the bartender is a charming dude. Miguel and Pedro keep the kitchen hopping! I love the lamb and the salad, finish up with fresh baklava!!!

I dont care how good the food is, but when i see the owner of the restaurant sneeze all over the sanwhich and then wipe his nose with his hand and go back to making the sanwhich agian. Discusting. My wife and i left right away as soon as we saw this happened. If you are making your own sanwhich then i dont care, but when someone pay you to make the sanwhich, please be professional about it and wear some gloves.

It’s hard to find non-suburban chain spots around Beaverton/Bethany, so Mad Greek Deli is a great option! Some dark indoor and bright outdoor seating, plus a bar tucked away in the back(one of those situations where it isn’t really open early in the day, probably so as not to interfere with the more family-friendly lunch atmosphere). I was a little worried when everyone around me was ordering Coors Light, but there are a couple of good beers on tap(a Lompoc, seasonal Ninkasi, and their own organic IPA — which tastes more like a heavy unfiltered wheat beer but does the job of not being Coors Light). For lunch I had the Dolmathes Special: fantastic. Grape leaves stuffed with spiced meat and bathed in a light creamy sauce, a tasty Greek salad on the side, and the lovely Greek fries(thick spears of potatoes all crispy-peppery outside, fluffy inside) made for an excellent lunch. I like a good gyro so I’ll try those out next time. And there are plenty of options for vegetarians, like falafel multiple ways, a spanakopita plate, and a sampler to name only a few. What’s lacking in atmosphere is actually part of the charm, and the food makes up for it as noted. They have live music on the weekends, and clearly have been around long enough to make converts of a generation or two. I look forward to returning for a sunny lunch on the patio, and some more of those grape leaves and Greek fries.

2/14, time for an update. I have not been to the Mad Greek since I found Antony’s Diner several years ago. Last night I did not want to cook so I ordered from Mad Greek via Delivered Dish. I ordered a Gyro, a 2 piece Chicken Sampler and a Reuben. Man was it good. We ate the 2 piece sampler and that chicken was soo good, either I have not had it before or I had forgotten. We shared the Reuben and it was delicious, packed with meat and cheese, we were both stuffed. They do not use the pack all the meat in the middle trick either, it was well worth the money. No room for the Gyro and Greek Fries, they are hubby’s lunch today. Very delicious and worth the money, I am now sad to hear they are closing soon.

The gyros were alright and this place is just right there(see me pointing?) I could even walk there if I really wanted to. But the service was just sort of weird, like they were preoccupied. And the parking is weird. So instead of walking to Mad Greek Deli, I’d rather get in my car and drive into Beaverton to the Gyro House.

This place is delicious! I’m so bummed that it took me so long to come here. I had the Mad Chicken Sandwich, which is grilled chicken that is extremely flavorful, and that came with Greek fries. The fries are very unique; not only are they gigantic(I’d compare each one to 1⁄5 of a large russet potato cut lengthwise), but they are seasoned extremely well. They are so good that I think I ended up eating about a full potato’s worth as my side for lunch(and ended up rolling on home so full that I couldn’t even eat dinner). Per the other Unilocal reviews, I made sure to get a side of Omega sauce, which I think way key in making the fries as tasty as they were. You order at a counter, they brought our dishes out to us, and then you bus your own table. The restaurant was a little worn-feeling on the inside, so it definitely feels like the casual joint it is. I was there for lunch, but I saw a bar over to one side, and this seems like it would be a fun place to maybe hang out in the evening. There were a couple of TVs playing(Greek?) music videos while I was there for lunch.

One word review: Bogus. Okay we were out at a British car show and decided to drive our classic convertible to this little place to grab a quick bite on a nice day. It looked promising and I recalled that people used to tell me it was good. Well, either I caught this place on the worst day ever or the place isn’t what it used to be. I had a beer and a couple of pieces of fried chicken, and my hubby ordered a Greek salad. They devote a whole section to their fried chicken so I figured it must be decent — WRONG — it was cold, greasy and small — cooked a long time before I came for lunch(about 130pm) and it was fishy tasting to boot! Like fish had been cooked in the same oil — maybe calamari? I don’t even want to know. The Greek salad should have been a safe bet — SHOULDHAVE — but it too was not fresh — the lettuce was so wilted that it didn’t have any bite to it(worse than dressed salad the 2nd day in a fridge). I ask myself how hard is it to have decent lettuce when the little ‘medium’ salad cost something like 6 +bucks. Eeek! There are birds nests over the outdoor tables that are crapping on the tables and it’s just icky! Plus the remnants of other peoples lunches were still there during our whole meal — 3 un-bused tables on a hot day outdoors with garbage and food sitting there. Definitely not going back.

Omega Sauce, Omega Sauce, Omega Sauce. That’s where it’s at. Do not order the Greek Fries without a side of Omega Sauce — or maybe even 2 sides of sauce! You’ll thank me. My favorite plate here is the Vegetarian Sampler — it’s got spanakopita, falafel balls, a veggie dolma, hummus and pita, and a small greek salad — can’t go wrong! The husband always gets the Mad Greek Sandwich, because he has dreams of one day completing the Mad Greek Challenge(check out their website for more info on that!). The salad has a maybe a touch too much dressing, and the hummus doesn’t wow me on it’s own(it’s delish on the pita with the falafel!), but I definitely enjoy every meal, they’ve got outside seating and great service! And did I mention the Omega Sauce?! Yeah baby!
