Awesome place! My daughter and I love walking here for fresh treats. Not much you can say. Owner is super nice and friendly. Goes out of his way to make sure you’re happy. All the produce we have ever gotten has been wonderful. We hate the winter when we can’t visit!

Mark is back! I was so happy to see this little produce place open after a long winter. People are friendly and you never know what treasures you will find. I stopped and bought peaches(they smelled so good), two bells(red and yellow), a tomato, a huge avocado, and six ears of corn. Going to pair a big salad and corn with some chicken sausage for dinner. Note, the Meating Place is 2 minutes from here. You could totally go grab meat and add Mark’s stuff for an easy dinner on the grill. That’s my plan, anyway. Veggies set me back a piddly $ 10. Yay. I love summer in Bethany.

Mark is a super chill guy, I like him as much as the produce he peddles! He has a produce stand in the same parking lot as The Mad Greek Deli, he has all sorts of produce, both organic and not. It seems some of it is local and some of it is trucked in from other places. Their strawberries are the best in the area and I make my strawberry jam every summer using ONLY Mark’s berries, they are so sweet I barely need to add any sugar. It can be a hassle getting in and out of the parking lot in the summer especially on weekends and evenings, so I go during the day, much easier. He now takes cards thank goodness, writing a check was a pain. I have a fair commute to get here but it is well worth the trip! Looking forward to another summer of excellent produce!

Leslie’s review(above? below? somewhere near this one…) gives you lots of the great details about open months, the owner and such, so definitely check that out. I have to say, I’m really happy that this produce stand is so close to my house! We just moved here recently, and wound up getting a place in a rather unpleasant apartment complex, feeling completely unwelcome(we’re from MT). So the day we wandered down to this produce stand I almost cried tears of joy when Mark stopped to introduce himself, ask about us, chat for a few minutes, and encourage us to check out the produce. It meant so much for someone to be openly friendly and welcoming after feeling out of place for several weeks here. Produce is priced great and delicious! If you’re in the area, definitely stop here before going to silly Albertsons. :)

Other than a small strawberry sign by the corner of West Union and 185th I had no idea that this place was here. The sign was just a drawing of a strawberry with an arrow… mysterious, i thought, so i followed it. What i found was a fairly large white pavilion tent which appeared to be some sort of farm stand right behind the parking lot of the Mad Greek Deli. All the produce looked fresh and bright colored, signs were posted saying it was local, and many of the things were labeled organic too. The owner Mark Brooks is super talkative and friendly. I overheard him telling someone about his business, he is a produce broker, not himself a farmer. The produce comes from over 20 Oregon farms, he also works connecting Oregon farmers with Whole Foods, New Seasons, and various other Co-ops and markets around town, but this business is his baby. Almost all of the produce is local, though it comes from various places in Oregon, and much of it is organic. Mark seemed very happy, positive, enthusiastic and passionate about what he is doing here, which makes me like the place all the more. Apparently Mark’s Northwest Fresh Produce is a seasonal semi-permanent operation. This is his third year operating in this location. The stand runs from May to September or October. I forgot to ask him what his specific hours and days open are, but unlike a farmer’s market he is open throughout the week, more like a store than a farmer’s market. I got two GIANT ripe mangoes, three small but tasty looking avocados(i’m positive those aren’t local), a good couple of handfuls of impeccably perfect looking green beans, a couple of handfuls of baby grape/cherry tomatoes, and two GIANT peaches, all for just about $ 7. All of it looks wonderful, i just ate one of the peaches… normally i buy big peaches and then am disappointed in how mushy and mealy they are, but this one was very flavorful flavorful, the perfect texture, and juice was just running down my arm! Its obvious Mark is taking pains to get excellent produce in stock. This is right near a pretty paved trail that goes by Bethany Lake Park, which is a beautiful and fairly easy walk from my house, so i’ll be sure to make NW Fresh Produce part of my weekly routine.
