If you have something you want framed, come here. Every time. For everything. These guys know what they are doing, they know how to handle art, preservation, and aesthetics. The painting I brought in for framing had been unfortunately rolled up, so it had minor creases. They went through pressing and framing options with me to figure out how to frame it and make it look flat. They do excellent work. Worth every penny. Everyone who sees the painting now just gasps a little. In a good way.

Luke’s Frame Shop did a fantastic job framing some beloved prints and the staff were fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly. I was on a budget and they walked me through all my various options without any pressure or upselling — they showed me options that fell in my price range and answered all of my questions. The quote they gave me was what I paid, the framing looked fantastic and they made sure I was happy with the job before I took them home. I recommended this place to a friend who got an outrageous price quote somewhere else, he took it to Luke’s, his new frame looks great, and he was offered cheaper alternatives other stores never mentioned to him.
I would highly recommend this shop and will definitely be returning for my framing needs.

i have some challenging art that i occasionally bring in to luke’s — and every single time, bang! they pick the PERFECT framing for the pieces. prices are reasonable, good turnaround time. luke is a kind and caring person who hires truly aesthetically intuitive and well-​trained staff who absolutely know what they’re doing. i don’t even make suggestions — i simply slide the piece over and tell them, go for it. have never been disappointed. hands down, the place to go for framing.

I recently had a wedding photograph framed here and was very pleased with the entire experience. The representative helping me was very helpful when selecting a matte and frame that would compliment the photograph, and readily explained the differences between the different matte colors and their effects on the photograph, the types of glass, and pricing of all of my different options. The overall cost was a good value for the work done, and I would gladly return for any future framing!

Wow, what an incredible experience I had at Luke’s Frame Shop today, specifically with Nathan. I came into the shop and explained that I had some premade frames with precut mats that I wanted to use to hang paintings, as I have a gallery show coming up but can’t afford to go custom for 12 pieces. I was worried that I’d be dismissed or charged a ton of money to custom cut the pre-​sized mats, as I assumed a frame shop would be annoyed at the prospect of doing the less profitable work of modifying crappy low quality premade frames. To my surprise, Nathan was nothing but welcoming and helpful, took my artwork and mats and custom cut them on the spot. He listened to my tale of fumbling with the mat cutter I’d bought online and mangling several mats, and proceeded to walk me through the whole mat cutting process, sharing a dozen techniques he’d acquired in his 20 plus years of experience. He walked me through each piece, we’d decide on how best to present it, he took the measurements and boom — perfectly sized mats, every time. And what he charged me… peanuts really for the degree of service and professionalism. I was completely stunned. Really, the best customer service experience I’ve had in my ten plus years living in Portland.

I’ve been to Luke’s on three or four occasions since moving to Portland 3 yrs ago. They really are just the best. Great prices, super helpful staff-​ALWAYS. I mean, is anyone ever in a bad mood there?! No! Always a good sign for good service: people happy with where they work pass that along. And truly they do. Entire staff at Luke’s care about the client. Additionally, all take pride in their craft as all the work is beautiful. When I was a kid the highest GPA I could receive was 4.0, now I hear my niece has a 4.2! In the spirit of being current, I bestow 5.6 stars for Luke’s.

We stopped at Luke’s Frame Shop to get an estimate on repairing a frame. The person who helped us could immediately see the problem, so he removed the problem part of the frame, made the necessary adjustments, and put the frame back together again — all in a matter of minutes. We couldn’t believe that the problem was solved so quickly and easily, and there was no charge! What a great experience! Thank you, Luke’s!

Walked in on Christmas eve, and Nathan was able to frame a giclée for me at the very last minute. Not only were they able to accommodate me at the last minute, he somehow magically was able to mount it and remove creases in the paper that had occurred during shipment from overseas. As a collector, it is so good to know I have these wonderful people just up the street from me. Highly recommended!

I had something framed here about a year ago, and thought to myself «if I ever need something else framed, I will definitely come back to Luke’s.» This month, I needed something else framed, and came here again with zero hesitation. And just like last time, I couldn’t be happier with the results. They work they do comes out looking fantastic, and they’re also really helpful with picking the right frame, talking about options and pricing, etc.
I’ll come here for all my framing needs as long as I live in Portland. They’re great!

It’s clear they aren’t out to gouge you. The way they have the pricing on a letter scale is really nice. Granted, I stepped up and paid way more than I anticipated but it was me that made the decision to do so by picking out the grander of the tons of available selection.
The gentleman that helped me along with who I gathered to be Luke has a great sense of color and I would consider both to be artisans in their selected trade. It’s a great laid back environment. I’ve been collecting art needing framing for years but never did because from my last experience (at a big box) it sucked and I wasn’t at all stoked to go thru it again. Luke’s however is totally different and the process as I said earlier in this rant is fun. It seems that whatever look you are going for-​they have it covered but the service is top notch. Upon my receiving my first 2 finished pieces, I brought in another.

We have had several things framed here over the last year. The gentlemen are extremely knowledgeable and come with creative solutions for every project. If you know exactly what you want they are great — however if you need a little inspiration this is where these guys shine. We trusted them with a very precious 300 year old map and the result was stunning. Their prices are competitive with all framing shops and you get a local craftsman!

My daughter won an art competition and I needed help with the backing on an existing frame I already had. They were so nice and helped change the mat and mount the art super quick.
We also used Luke’s about 3 years ago to frame several concert posters for our family room. Can’t say enough great things about them. I will continue to be a loyal costumer and will always recommend this company.

I came to Luke’s shop because I had bought an Litho and « Unilocaled» for a custom frame shop. After some price shopping I realized that not all shops could help me due to the size (~70×30 inch). The ones that could handle it were price wise comparable, so despite being at the opposite site of town I went with small and independent.
They could order the exact frame I saw the litho in at the gallery — and despite they needed to special order, all was done in 6 days instead of the 7 – 10 days he quoted.

Came here to get diplomas framed and had no idea about frames. They really helped picking a frame and gave their opinions about what I should do. Great place to do business with. They make you feel at home, and they make the process really easy. Also 50% cheaper than Aaron Brothers and better quality. Wouldn’t dare go anywhere else!

I had an awesome experience at Luke’s Frame Shop. I was framing five tintypes as a gift for my partner. My partner is a photographer and has a really good eye for aesthetic so I was a bit nervous at how to help lighten up the tintypes and highlight our family pictures. Luke was amazing! He spent a lot of time going over the matte and frame options and offered his expertise when I wasn’t sure what brought out the best light in the portraits. The framed images look absolutely stunning! The matte matches the warm hues in our living room and the tintypes (which tend to be dark and hard to see) look great under the museum quality glass.
So grateful for Luke’s help and for the gorgeous matte/​frame job!

Luke has a great eye for frames, and it shows in his final products. I’ve ordered three custom frames through his shop and I love each every one he has assembled for my needs. He’s very mindful of budgets too, so he won’t try to stick you with the expensive wood just because he can. This isn’t to say that his work is inexpensive (far from it, really), but I’m willing to pay more for his framework on pricier, more delicate items that I’ve acquired.
He’s also got local work hanging around his shop that you can purchase if you’re so inclined. I might do that next time I stop by for a job…
