Lil Trees Guitars

The internal mic system on my Taylor C315 acoustic has been intermittently crackling and cutting out for months. I twice took it to a repair shop near me in SE Portland, and $ 180 later, give or take, the problems continued. Last Thursday I found Dan online and, as he was right in the neighborhood too, thought what the heck & called him. He said sure I can fix that, probably quickly unless I need to order special parts from Taylor (I have a regular gig Wed nites so that sounded good). When I dropped it off 15 minutes later, he was giving a lovely hollow body electric back to its owner. All the problem buzzing and other issues were gone & it played like a dream. The guy thought he needed a fret job & Dan said no, your feet depth is fine, so he just made adjustments. I’m thinking wow, this guy is special. Then he shows me some of the solid body electrics he’s made, with custom electronics, and they are beautiful both visually and musically, the necks feel like power steering… then we get to my guitar, & he says well it probably just needs a new input jack, I’ll have it for you after I do one other repair. Saturday he calls & I go get it. Connection problems GONE, only needed a new jack. Plus, he changed my strings (I had a spare set), readjusted the neck to improve playability up the neck, and shimmed the 2^nd string to fix a very slight buzz. I did not ask him for these adjustments, he just did them. It plays and sounds better than ever! The bill? $ 35.00!
If you need any kind of repair or adjustment on an electric or acoustic guitar and don’t got to Dan, you are nuts!

Dan is the only person I allow to set up my gear. He’s cared for and taught me a lot about each one of my guitars. Not to mention that I commissioned him to make an electric guitar for me. Dan repaired my ’75 Gibson SG custom. Just got it back today, and it’s beautiful and sounds great! I took my guitar to a music/​repair shop, and they actually referred me to Dan at Lil Trees. REPAIRS:
Dan repaired my 1947 L-​50 archtop guitar.
He fixed the fretting so it doesnt buzz and replaced and matched a celluloid inlay as well. It was like 90 bucks and took 4 days.
He replaced the head on my 70’s Kay banjo and gave it good polishing as well.
STAFF:
Dan is easy-​going and knowledgeable. He even helped me identify my guitar’s age. We talked about old archtop guitar design and golden era pick-​up design for a bit. Good times
SHOP:
Two apartment garages dedicated to building and fixing and studying guitars. His shops cool. There’s a little sign out front.
HINTS:
Dan’s my luthier now. Straight up. I’m confident he can fix anything. He REALLY loves guitar and amp design. I’m gonna have him fix my amps spring reverb next and mend a broken neck on my Republic steel body. And his prices are good.

I couldn’t be happier with the service Dan at Lil Trees gave. I needed some repair work on my Akai MPC 2500 sampler, and Dan knew exactly what to do. His soldering work is very tight. We replaced a couple buttons and switches that were becoming less responsive, checked some other areas and did a general tune up and cleaning, and the machine has never worked better. Five stars all the way!
