4 for the beer. 5 for the atmosphere. 3 for the food. Love the dog-friendly patio. Water dishes available. I’m a tuna melt connoisseur and this one leaves something to be desired. I prefer grilled bread and this one is toasted. The tuna is also bland.

Good beer and pizzas. I ordered the a pizza that had blue cheese walnuts and apples. I could have gone sans apple though and liked it even more. Don’t bother with the sandwiches though. Last time I came in I ordered a melt sandwich and payed almost eight dollars for a glorified grilled cheese and freakin ruffles potato chips! Stick to the pizza and beer and it will be a great experience.

If you are with a large group and have low expectations, want surly service, and luke warm pizza this is the place for you. The beer isn’t half bad but it can’t compensate for the constant screw ups from their kitchen. I have been there a number of times and they screwed up the orders at least half the times. When I went to the counter and told them they said«yeah, well what do you expect me to do about it?» Um, how about re-do the order and make the items we actually ordered, or offer a refund, or apologize, or pretend you care even a little. I only regret I pre tipped them a decent amount. They didnt deserve it!

Great place for big groups and people with dogs. Wide selection of reasonably priced craft brews and good pizza by the slice. Plenty of free parking. There aren’t any TVs or loud music, which makes it a great place to socialize. I went there for a board games meetup and had a lot of fun. Will definitely go back.

The Lucky Labrador Beer Hall on Quimby is always my first stop in Portland. They have a wide selection of brews and I usually roll in around lunch time for an IPA and a sandwich. The Chicken Caesar Salad and Simple Ham & Swiss are my usual. I’ve found the food tasty and a reasonable value. The place does have an area for darts and one can play or watch(or join) dart leagues that frequent. A couple of associations to which I belong find it a convenient spot to meet; the Quimby Lucky Lab has a large meeting room for gatherings, public presentations and private gatherings. Definitely one of my favorite brewpubs in PDX.

Great place for a group as it’s fairly spacious inside and never feels too busy. I’m not a huge beer fan so I can’t comment on their selections, but I do enjoy the ciders they have on tap. My favorite pizzas are the Northwest and the El Pollo Dingo.

I really wish I could give lucky lab a higher rating. It’s a fun concept hanging with the dogs outside and playing darts and a great spot on a nice say. My biggest problems: 1) No tvs. For how big this place is I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t have a few tvs to watch games. 2) Food is mediocre. I’ve tried the pizza and some sandwiches. They’re just okay. 3) Beer is decent but nothing to write home about. They have a ton of potential but for being a beer garden, the beer isn’t stand out enough to be the only reason to go here.

I ran in here for lunch on a weekday and got an italian grinder sub with potato chips. The sandwich meats and cheeses were good, but the bread was kind of hard and just… not delicious. Also, for noon on a Tuesday they were surprisingly empty.

Lucky Lab is my go-to spot for leisurely alfresco patio sipping in the NW neighborhood. The beer hall is everything it promises to be, with an array of taps and adorable pooches(tucked under the outdoor patio tables). The space is vast, especially for the NW neighborhood, and you can often find folks playing board-games or throwing darts. Since the hall is accessible to but removed from the bustle of 21st/23rd, parking is more abundant, though be sure to arrive early on a sunny day as the patio gets packed.

Great place to sit back and enjoy a beer sampler. Big open room with ample amount of seating. Nice«order at the bar» food and drink menu. Good for families with children as well. Well rounded beer menu.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t hang out higher on the mental list of places to grab an impromptu beer. It’s so convenient, reliable, and has a good selection on tap. Maybe it’s because the place is tucked away from all of the main thoroughfares? But really that’s a benefit. I’ve never had trouble finding a spot to sit when coming here. The outdoor patio is extensive, with both covered and uncovered portions. No patio heating, though, so bring a jacket if you’re sitting outside between October and May. Lots of dogs! Indoors, seating as far as the eye can see, if you’re half blind like me. Large group? No problem. Lots of kids having study groups or playing nerdy board games. Perfecto. The staff are always nice, too. As far as the beers: a good selection of lighter and darker, hoppy and not, and at least a couple of ciders thrown in at any given time. Not where I go for something super exciting, just a solid spot. And decent pizza doesn’t hurt either. Prices are reasonable.

Food is a little expensive for what it is, but the patio can’t be beat! Perfect ambiance for a chill gathering with friends. The beer is great and I’ve always had excellent service. The staff was really accommodating when I asked to rent a tap from them… for a keg that I got from a different brewery! I was just being a dork and forgot to rent one from the original place… so it was super nice of them to help me out by renting me a tap, which they don’t even normally do.

Pretty cool spot off the beaten path of NW portland. Nice outdoor patio too. I had the ruebin sandwich, not to bad, a little skimpy on the meat. Who am i kidding i went for the BEER! The 20th anniversary IPA was tasty. Cheers!

This place is spacious albeit expensive and rather isolated compared to the options only 5 minutes walk south of it. But the namesake IPA from labdador is really good. If you like IPA’s I’d recommend it.

Lucky Lab is a fairly decent beer hall strategically situated off the busier parts of NW Portland. I frequent this place due to its rather relaxed and quiet ambiance and decent beer selection. While it’s nothing to write home about, Lucky Lab delivers if all you crave is some beer, a slice of pizza, and some sunshine. –The Food– First off, to be clear, the food is crap. I’ve had everything on the menu by now, and it’s all, relatively, crap. Your best bet is ordering a fresh full sized pizza, but that’s not worth it unless you’re dining with a group. The sandwiches and salads are overpriced and bland. The pizza slices are constantly a toss up. Make sure that you order the freshest looking slice. I’ve had some extremely stale pizza from this place simply because I had my heart set on the veggie option. All in all, do not plan on eating a good meal here. There are several dozen better restaurants within walking distance from this place. –The Beer– I would rate the beer as average. Lucky Lab brews its own beer on-site. The beer quality is decent, but nothing to write home about(unless you’re unfortunate enough to live in a place that doesn’t have plenty of breweries to chose from.) I’ve found that the best beer at Lucky Lab is usually the guest tap, which rotates very frequently. Other than that, I’m a fan of the Brown and of some of the IPAs. Those beers are on the better side of average. Some of the lighter beers they serve are very much mediocre at best. –The Service– The service is always boarderline-douchy. This place is staffed by a bunch of generic looking dudes that just seem to kind of blend into the scenery. They are all granola-types who would be a better fit in some Colorado bar than in Portland. They will offer you service, but it will usually be extremely minimal and with a bit of a «blah» attitude. Do ask for free samples of beer; to annoy your douchy server if nothing else. Make sure to tell them where you’re sitting or you’ll get cold food. The amount you tip also seems to directly influence how fresh your food is when it gets to you(especially the pizza). Do tip, but don’t tip well. They do not deserve your money. –The Ambiance– I mostly frequent this place for the ambiance, which leaves me a little torn. The bar caters to a relatively douchy dog owning demographic and to large groups of douchebros. You will always find dogs here, and at times they are owned by normal, respectable people… but every so often, sadly more often than not, the dog owners are obnixious So Cal bros who get wasted and shout while their dogs bark. As someone who doesn’t own a dog, I almost feel unwelcome in this place. You’ll catch dog owners giving the stink eye to non dog owners who dared sit in the sun by the doggy water sprout. This place also attracts groups, including the formally mentioned douchebros and… even worse… children. The douchebros at least tend to congregate at the back of the patio, in large groups, chugging beer, flexing their muscles, and smoking cigarettes. The cigarette smoke often covers the entire patio, which makes life a little less pleasant for us non-smokers.(LUCKYLAB… IFYOUTAKEONEDAMNTHINGOUTOFTHISREVIEW… LETITBETHIS. BANSMOKINGONTHEPATIO.) Basically, no matter what time of the day you’ll go to the Lab, there will always be at least someone annoying either blowing cig smoke in your direction, being a loud and obnoxious drunk(happens way too often), or allowing their damn dogs to bark. You’ll also run into children, especially on weekends. Those tend to stay on the inside though.(I have personally never sat on the inside, which is huge and full of communal-type seating. I see no reason whatsoever to frequent this place if not for the outdoor patio, so I will never, ever eat here inside.) –My Advice– Avoid this place unless you live in the neighborhood and want a sunny spot to catch a beer in the afternoon or late evening during the spring and summer. There is absolutely no other reason to ever frequent this place.

Good for people who like pizza and beer. Good for people who like big spaces. Great for people who like dogs. I’m not really any of the people above, so it’s just not quite for me. The warehouse and picnic table vibe is a little too cavernous and cafeteria-feeling for me. Surfaces are kinda sticky. That sort of thing. Plus, I’m just not a big animal or beer person. But I end up at places like this from time to time, because say there’s a birthday party, or a meeting, or our book club decides to meet there. So for others like me: no need to worry; it’s just fine. They have an eh-ok salad selection, and some cider and wine basics. People’s dogs aren’t all crazy or up in your or each others’ respective businesses. Maybe a bark here and there, but the wide open space serves the dog elbow room well. The place does the trick in a pinch. And it’s nice to have a super casual dining space on the west side of the river. So. There you have it.

This is a fun location with LOTS of different beers on tap. It was great for large group bc we just got 3 beer samplers and then got to try like all the beers. I like how there is an inside and outside as well. The pizza is also really good. The only thing that is weird is that I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to have pets inside(just on the outside patio)… but its called Lucky Labrador! Come on!

Looking for a great beer hall in the Northwest? Look no further. The Labrador is an excellent place to go for casual drinks or with a large group. The interior looks like a warehouse that has been converted into an inviting beer hall with long communal tables and cool artwork. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the beer that they serve. They make their own beer, but also have guest beers on tap that they rotate out frequently. We opted for their flight, where you get to choose 6 beers to sample. The pours were steep and the prices were cheap! I can’t remember the exact beers I tasted, but they were all delicious and the Labrador was serving up festive holiday brews when we went on December 23rd. We didn’t eat any food when we were here and we didn’t take advantage of their happy hour specials, but we look forward to exploring more of Labrador in future visits!
