Had the Mook Pha – Dream salmon steamed in banana leaf. Came with steamed rice, steamed zucchini and vegetables with their fish sauce. It was healthy, and the flavor profile is definitely unique to Laos, though there is some connection between Vietnamese and Thai seasoning. Very nice folks. I had a rice noodle dish here one other time but don’t recall enough specifics sort from it also be really tasty. If you like spicy Asian cuisine, you will enjoy this truck.

Couldn’t be better. Sat in the Sun. Had Pram eggplant and cozy rice soup. Delicious! Very nice couple making your meal.

Best Thai food I’ve had in PDX! The Pad Thai is delicious — shrimp is plump and juicy. Mango Curry mmmm soooo tasty and flavorful… must try!!!

I keep coming back here over and over again, partially because I live in the neighborhood, but mainly because the food is wonderful! So far I’ve had the tofu versions of Pad See Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai, and their Cashew Tofu. Every single dish was delicious and satisfying, and very generous portions — usually enough for two meals. Plus they have about 30 items on the menu to choose from. The owner is really sweet, and very helpful when you can’t make up your mind.

I’ve had three different meals here and each was spectacular. The Nam Khao was not only flavorful but beautiful as well. Every ingredient was the best version of itself. Hot is very spicy. The wait is longer than at other food carts– 10 to 15 mins. It’s worth it. These folks should have their own restaurant.

One if the best food trucks, I dream about the Tofu Pad Woonsen! The couple that owns it really aims to please. It is delicious and worth the wait!

I had the Pad Lao. The noodles were a little overcooked for my tastes, but otherwise it was superb. Prices seem a little high for a cart, but you get plenty of food. I got two meals out of mine. Highly recommended!

This is the first Portland food cart that I have ever wanted to eat at more than once.(Yeah, most suck or are just mediocre, not worth the effort.) This is some of the BESTSE Asian food in Portland. Screw Pok Pok and all the crappy Thai places in Portland, this is the real deal, though with a Lao focus. I would go at least once a week if it were a bit more convenient, but maybe that is a good thing! The Nam Khao(crispy rice/sausage/herb/ginger mélange) is one of the best in town(the other contender is in Beaverton, unrecognized by the local food«experts»). The beef jerky is fantastic. I love the«Dream Salmon» Mok Pa, is unique to this place here in the«mighty gastropolis»(not my term, I am using it to make light of PDX’s smoke and mirrors food«scene» which I think is totally bogus). The people are very sweet and hospitable. Don’t go here and order pad thai or any of the things you might usually get in a Thai place because you are afraid to venture into new territory… like Portlanders order burritos, even if more and better traditional Mexican dishes are available. Try something out of your comfort zone. Grow a pair. Grow up. This place deserves wider recognition! I only wish they had a wider variety of Lao dishes, but they know the market can’t bear that. Come on, give it a shot! Whatever, Luang Prabang is the best food card food in this little town!

Luang Prabang is located in the Sellwood food cart pod. I walked over interested in trying the Ash food truck for pizza or the Greenhouse Grill’s salad bowl. Unfortunately Ash was(again) out of dough and Greenhouse was out of avocados. Bummer. But then, wait, not so bummer, let’s check out Luang Prabang. I’d never really considered trying this food cart because there is a great Thai restaurant right around the corner. Big mistake on my part because the food they are serving up here is a little bit of happiness on my tongue. I had the chicken larb. The portion size was off the hook large and it came with a box of rice. Easily this was sufficient for dinner and lunch the next day. It was tasty larb, slightly less minty than I prefer but delicious regardless. The menu here is impressive for a food cart. There were easily 20 items to choose from in addition to a couple of specialty drinks. The turn-around time wasn’t bad either. They were busy and it took about 10 minutes for my food to come out. Note that their summer hours are in effect so you can hit them up as late as 8 pm!

A whole heaping mess of deliciously spicy Thai food for 8 dollars. This might last me three meals if I can exert the self control. Very pleasantly surprised.

WAITED45MINFORFOOD! The owner or whoever works here seemed quite confused about people’s orders today when I went there. He called someone’s number and gave them food that wasn’t theirs-turned out it was for someone else. Then he gave that same couple another false alarm before giving them their food the third time. My order didn’t start cooking until 30 min after I placed it. He told people that their order was coming soon, when it wasn’t. I asked him if he called my number about 30 min into waiting because I was having a conversation and wasn’t paying attention. He said«yea, 13,“but the translation for that was actually«oh yea, what did you order again? Ok we will begin cooking it next.» He then said«next a few more times. If there was a wait, he should have told the customers about it so they can expect it. He probably has a language barrier, but he seemed to understand everything so I’m not sure what the deal was. Now the food was decent. 3 star food. Nothing special about it or anything different from a typical thai dish. I ordered pad eggplant. It was a little too watery and didn’t have enough salt. The potstickers were too burnt. I would come here again to try other dishes just to give a more unbiased review. I was in a great mood so I wasn’t bothered at all by having to wait, but it’s going to go in my review because I wasn’t the only one waiting for much longer than expected. About 6 – 10 others ordered food shortly after us and waited very long as well. I also tried the thai iced tea which was pretty good, very sweet and exactly the way it usually is.

Amazing! If you’ve never tried Laotian food, here is your opportunity. The lucky chicken is amazing, boasting flavor for days. The noodles are also very flavorful and feature a broth that’s out of this world.

Had visited Sock Dreams, and on the way back we stopped at Cloud Cap Games. We asked which truck across the street he’d recommend, and he said the yellow one has the best Asian food he had. We tried it and were not disappointed. We split an appetizer of pork pot stickers, which were delicious, and had pork pad woosen, one of the specials for the day: peas, carrots, onion, scallions, bell peppers, bean sprouts, mushrooms, rice noodles. We got it medium spicy, which you could feel but which was containable with water to a low burn. The food was excellent, nothing was limp or overly oily. The fellow who took our order also brought the food out to the picnic table around the cart from the window. All-in-all, there was nothing bad about this experience, nothing fell short. The portion size for the pad woosen was large, which was good for us as we split it and could finish it. I would definitely eat here again if I was craving southeast Asian food. —– I returned to the area in November, 2015, and ate here again. It is still excellent!

This is some seriously authentic and good food. I’ve eaten here four times, having pad Thai, mango curry and fried rice. All of the dishes were enough for two people, freshly prepared and so hot from the stove that significant cooling was required, especially for the curry. The dishes are chock-a-block with veggies and whatever meat you order. The Lao couple who runs it are very nice and work very hard. Since the food is prepared while you wait, it can take awhile, especially if they are busy, but it’s well worth it. A word of caution: unless you like *hot* spicy food(and by hot I mean ‘holy shit!” hot, stick with medium or mild. I like spicy, but the medium hit my upper limit.

So far this is one of my favorite food carts ever!!! I have only been here a few times but what ever I order it is unbelievably good!!! I think the couple working inside is an elderly husband and wife duo that speak little English but they are master chefs in their own domain! I’m not familiar with classic Laotian food but if this is what it taste like then I LOVE it! The last thing I ate there was the Green Curry Avocado and it was pretty Amazing! Their Pad Thai is ALWAYSGOOD and definitely gets my return(over and over and over again) business

Seems quite authentic. I’m not a Laotian, mind you, but I’m well versed in South East Asian taste. I jumped into the chance of trying anything wrapped in banana leaf, which is how I ended up with their Dream Salmon and I wasn’t disappointed. This type of dish is a lot of work and it was good. The small side of chili was the bomb though, it’s spicy and boosted up the flavor of the salmon another notch. My friend was just talking about how she wanted to eat Nam Khao and she hasn’t found any restaurant in Portland that serves it — must be her lucky day because it was one of the specials of the day. I’m not familiar with this dish at all, but basically they make rice ball, deep fry it and then break it apart. You eat it with lettuce, ginger, tomatoes and deep fried pork skin! The sauce that came with it was a tad sweet though. The desert of mango sticky rice was also yummy — they used black sticky rice for color contrast and very sweet mango(even though mango season is over). The only thing that I could ding them on is the service. The husband doesn’t speak English very well and they don’t ask for name, so you kinda have to watch when your food is ready since they don’t deliver it to your table. Oh yeah, their Thai ice tea & coffee are too sweet! But these are minor quibbles, I would _definitely_come eat here again if I’m in the area — not too often, unfortunately :(

Straightforward Southeast Asian food. I had the ginger chicken. Chicken, potatoes, carrots, green and red peppers, it’s mild, allowing the ginger spice to show through. Not drenched in sauce. They have a book of off menu dishes I’m looking forward to trying!

This place legit man! I go there they no even speak english. I say no rice and I get rice! Awesome! Super nice Lao lady &(I assume) husband work the cart and forced me to eat chlli when I said no. She picked up the chili, looked at me and i shook my head in dismay. Next thing she gestured she’ll cut it up and dump it into my plate of Larb. Guess i had no choice man! It’s either lick the whole damn chili or have it sprinkled onto my food. HELLYA! But damn it was soo good, glad she forced me to eat the chili. I also tried to chicken potato dish(damn I forgot what it called). So tasty & umami! I love that they don’t serve small portions too.

I’ve never written a review but this place has inspired me to write my first. I totally agree with the previous reviewer, the food here is delicious! I just took my mom here for lunch and, because she did the ordering, I ate some dishes I wouldn’t have normally eaten. The ‘dream salmon’ and a stewed chicken dish with ginger(i forgot the name but it’s up on their regular menu) were both flavorful and perfectly cooked. My mom had just flown in from NYC and I was glad to be able to impress her with this world class fare. The sticky rice with mango is done so well, it enlivens your tastebuds and melts in your mouth! The husband and wife team are so friendly and adorable. The woman always says, «Come back» to me when I thank her but she doesn’t need to… I’ll be back!

This Laotian food cart(with some Thai touches) is a really nice one — well worth a visit for its restaurant-quality, deliciously spiced food. It’s as friendly as you could ask, and serves a variety of fresh, delicious, well-spiced food for both hardcore meat eaters and vegetarians — to whom I recommend the tofu larb!(Just so you know, there’s a lot of not-totally-disclosed fish sauce among the seasoning blends of many of the meat dishes, in case that’s a concern for reasons of diet or allergy.) The prices aren’t the lowest, by cart standards: a complete meal can run around $ 10 a head. But it is a really complete meal: the portions are more than generous, and you can have a really nice outdoor dining experience with a huge, piled-high plate of seasoned meat or tofu, a heaping side of rice, enough lettuce and cucumber garnish to amount to a whole salad, and sauces and spices galore. It’s a great addition to a formerly lacking, now revitalized Sellwood food pod.
