I eat at KB at least twice a week. You seriously can’t go wrong with this place(especially if you’re on a budget like me). King burrito with red sauce is unbelievable, al pastor fries are killer, and Lengua tacos that make you forget what you’re eating. This place deserves 5 stars simply for the hours(10am-11pm) and the convenience. If you’re not there at a particularly busy time, you will get your food in a matter of seconds. Love you KB!

Great authentic restaurant. Good food at great prices, flavors were spot on and their green salsa is fabulous. I got tacos and burritos and my tummy was really happy before, during and after!

i am eating a bean, rice, and cheese burrito right now!!! it’s so good. Most places are bland, and put too much rice in it. This one was perfect! The price was perfect. it was the perfect size for $ 4.00. it wasn’t huge, and it wasn’t tiny(as usual). perfect spot if you want a tasty, cheap burrito.

Ok so now i moved closer to this joint and have been in Portland for a year, so I decide to try it out again and to my surprise the food tastes so much better. I put it down to being in this town for so long and being used to all the mediocre food that I now think this place tastes great. Tells you how far my standards have fallen living in this barren outpost for dining called Portland. There is no decent Irani/Persian restaurant, Chinese or Rotisserie Chicken joint(please dont reply with Pollo Loco)

Quick, cheap and tasty mexican food! It’s a little confusing as their burritos come with different fillings for each, not a standard set of ingredients. My husband got a burrito with a stuffed pepper in it though by the time we got home and he ate it, the pepper was never to be found. I got a shredded beef burrito which was pretty good. The fries were crisp and fresh.

My friend from LA and I were craving real Mexican food. I found out about this place on Unilocal and we went. The restaurant itself could be fancier, but to be honest I think that’s part of it’s charme. I’m a huge fan of the Special Quesadilla! Their burritos are delicious as well and the meat is good quality and very tender. Friendly & fast service!

I really think the food quality is a 4, atmosphere a 3 and prices a 5! But I have a fondness in my heart for this place. I will tell you my husband swears the burritos are better when the older gentleman in the back is doing the whole cooking/making of the burritos. Also the green sauce/salsa varies in flavor, somedays I like it better than others. BUT, I am always happy with the refried beans. the flavor profile of them are not always consistent either. I especially like them when they are a little spicy! But my favorite part is they have the right mix of creaminess and whole beans. I like some substance with my refrieds! So the bean/cheese burrito is my go to, especially for $ 3 and I can’t finish it! My second favorite is a carnitas taco for $ 1.50! Most of the tacos are only $ 1.50! The avocado sauce that comes on some burritos is really good too. All the burritos are huge and super cheap. I have never had a weird interaction with staff and we have went here for years. This place is small, plastic picnic tables. Often crowded. You order at the counter and then pick up food. No real silverware or plates. Plastic/paper items. Bottled sodas or fountain sodas only. My suggestion: GETTAKEOUT. If you choose to eat in, be aware there is a pretty big Parking lot in back of the store front. Enter from the side streets.

Good Not Great A lot of my Portland friends tell me over and over again«dude, King Burrito is the truth» «Dude, King Burrito is the real deal bro» «Dude, it’s LA Style Mexican food» I can go on and on. but I will spare you the comedy. The truth is it’s better than most, but still not up to what I would call the BEST Mex food. This is what I tasted; Carne Asada Burrito Carne Asada Taco Carnitas Taco Al Pastor Taco and the Horchata I thought all above were on the salty side (especially the Carne Asada) And I did like how they grill the tortillas, this step is often missed at Portland Mexican spots. My favorite would have to be the Carnitas Tacos I thought these bad boys had a nice flavor and the meat had a char, which gave it the true Carnitas essence and was very good with the house made green salsa. Thinking out loud, The kitchen lights were out, not sure if it was on purpose or a power outage. I just thought who cooks in the dark. maybe it’s just me tho. All and All, I would return if I was on the north side and I really appreciate the reasonable prices and the wonderful green salsa. BTW the Menudo smelled awesome. I might need to return to check that out soon.

I really enjoyed the food here. It’s a small place not fancy but clean with about maybe 9 tables and its seat yourself and order at the counter with pick up on the side when they call your number. They have fountain side but they also have soda in the bottle made in Mexico… orange Fanta, Coke, sangria and some others. I had tacos since it was my first visit I wanted to start with the basics. Shredded beef, carne asada, and lengua it was just like south of the border or like the line from the cart. Very flavorful and perfect size not to small. Chips tasted fresh made from the fryer. I would have to say this place has great food. It’s a small family owned place, just guessing but j think the mother and daughter were working but I don’t know for sure. They were very nice and hope to visit there again.

As good as it gets for Mexican food in ORE. I used to go here a lot when I lived there. At first I wasnt sure what to expect from this little hole in the wall. Its kind of daunting when you first walk in. The inside is not the most appealing, not the most maintained, and leaves much to be desired. But the food is top notch. As good as it gets apart from SoCal near Mexico… but pretty close; and miles better than anything else in OR and certainly light-years better than anything you’ll get on the east. The food is authentic and they are a real Mexican family. Its not an americanized chain. Americans might be hesitant from going in here especially if they are from the suburbs because its really small, can get crowded, the interior is shabby and everyone is speaking Spanish but put that ignorance aside and give it a try. This is real Mexican food. This is not Cha Cha Cha or Taco Bell. The prices are the BEST… dont know if Ive seen cheaper anywhere else. They give you amazingly large portions and dont skimp on the meat or any of the ingredients. I would always get a shrimp chimichanga and it was the best hands down. For a meal, side, and drink you shouldnt expect to pay more than $ 8-$ 10. And they dont stuff the burrito with so much rice that it comes pouring out and makes a mess because they dont want to give you a lot of meat. Also keep in mind the $ 8 – 10 you pay will leave you with very adequate leftovers for the next day. I love to have a margarita with my Mexican food though, and unfortunately they dont serve alcohol. I dont even think they sell refrigerated beer. Not even a cheap Corona. Lucky for them the food is too damn good to minus a star for that. I like that there is a small private parking lot in the back with a back entrance in to the restaurant. There is also some seating outside. Definitely Portland’s little best kept secret.

Looking at this place from the outside you’d think it wouldn’t be all that great, but looks are deceiving with them! They have great food and they get it to you super fast! It’s super inexpensive and ideally the right sized portions. I just wish they would clean it up a little more as a facility.

Yes, yes, yes! King Burrito is my local haunt when I’m feeling tummy-needy. It might look like a little hole in the wall, but lord have mercy — their burritos are amazing. I’m a huge fan of their low fat burrito, bean & rice(black or refried), and their machaca. Do not, I repeat, do not order two burritos … your stomach will explode. THEY’REHUGE. The staff is very kind(and helpful if you’re undecided), and the prices are so low that sometimes(though I don’t voice this aloud to them, of course) I wonder how they stay in business. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. Also — don’t panic if there’s a line. Super speedy turnaround time. Con — I have to walk by in the morning before they’re open, and it makes me salivate with the scent of the day. Waaaah.

Pro’s: Decent Food, great prices Con’s: Decent Food, not the friendliest Stopped in on a Monday night looking to enjoy some inexpensive Mexican Food. According to Unilocal this spot fit the bill. I may be a bit biased as a Southern California resident, but it’s widely known that SoCal has the best Mexican Food, this may be an unfair comparison… I approached the register and ordered the Green Chili Pork Burrito. The guy working the register was not the friendliest, almost felt like we were bothering him. Unfortunately the burrito was not what I expected, the Green Chili was non-existent. It had decent flavor but lacked the flavor I was looking for. Their hot sauce helped, but it was still missing some flavor. My wife ordered Carnitas Taco’s, which came loaded with meat, pico de gallo and guacamole. She was a huge fan of their guac, but felt the meat was just ok. My son ordered a Bean and Cheese Burrito, which he decided to take back to our hotel room and eat later. He liked it. There has to be a better place for your Mexican Food fix in Portland. Unfriendly customer service and ok food gets this spot 3 stars.

My family was visiting Portland for a few days and after checking in to the hotel, I discovered this gem on Unilocal. Not only was the food extremely well-priced, it was made quickly by professional and friendly staff, and the taste was amazing. I’m so thankful I read a previous review about asking for the hot sauce, which was made in-house. Delicious! The selection of Jarritos was very appreciated, as this is our favorite beverage with authentic Mexican cuisine. It’s been months since our visit and I know my husband is included when I say we still have severe cravings for one of their burritos.

The King burrito was great, filled with beans, steak picado and a Chile Relleno. I treated two friends who enjoyed their veggie chimichanga and chicken burrito. The salsa was outstanding! Prices are reasonable.

Tucked away in a little strip mall on North Lombard and Peninsular, it’s easy to miss this spot. King Burrito is a «go to» for pretty much everyone I know who lives in North Portland and everyone loves it. Many of us go in on an average of once a week or more. Everything I have had here has been excellent. The burritos above par for most small shops… the ingredients fresh and tasty. The King Burrito contains a chile relleno(yum!) and the guacamole sauce is good on anything… as is the green or red hot sauce. I’ve never walked away hungry and my friends talk about how good the food tastes every time we eat it. The prices are cheap with the most expensive burrito being $ 5.00 and the service is impressively fast for length of lines that hit on a popular night… we never wait long. I’ve heard and seen that they have a food cart in the Mississippi District as well. I haven’t yet tried this location but imagine the food is the same and why it continues to remain on Mississippi.

The first time I came here I would have given them five stars. But about 15 minutes ago I had the rudest, weirdest customer service experience that I have ever experienced. I’m from San Diego and someone suggested this place to me because San Diegans know good Mexican food. I ordered nachos with carne asada, beans and guacamole. Which must’ve blown the dude behind the register’s mind… I received my order — it was huge and had no cheese, so I went back and asked for cheese. He looked at me, told me I ordered something different and then repeated what he thought he heard back to me. I’m like, «Really? Can I get some cheese? How much do I owe you?» he replied«It’s free.» Then he and the kitchen staff proceeded to give me awkward glances. They put the cheese on and continued looking at me. I can’t get with people that act weird when they work with food. Maybe I should have spoke to them in Spanish… Damn I can’t wait to get back to SoCal for a real taco shop! Food review: Needless to say, the food was subpar this time. My taco was greasy, the meat was flavorless and too chewy. The nachos; well I took two bites and trashed it. The meat was carne but not carne asada. I can make better Mexican food at home, which is what I will do from now on.

It’s amazing to have a burrito for five dollars and them not throw rice in it as a filler. These gentlemen are truly the king of Burritos!!! It’s amazing how quick they turn food out with only 2 – 3 guys cooking. The lunch rush starts right at 1145a, but even with a long line you can get in and out with a Togo burrito in 20 mins. They have parking in the rear and a Back door to enter through. They also keep great hours 10a-11p.

Don’t be afraid of how the exterior and interior looks because the food is the reason why you should come here. Authentic Mexican food made fresh. You can get a very affordable meal to fill you up. I was able to try the King Burrito($ 5) and a Lengua Torta($ 5). I am impressed on the nice portion size and had a very good weight on it because you know it is filled with yummy goodness. First bite of the king burrito really lit up my taste buds. The meat was super tender and had a really good filling ratio. The homemade avocado sauce is just ‘Wow’. Very fresh and delightful. It comes in mostly everything and you don’t have to pay extra for it like some places do. Torta is five dollars for any choice of meat, so of course get the most expensive and delicious one. The lengua was very tender and soft and not chewy like other places. The bun was soft as well. The whole torta was a sensational experience. Good fillings full of flavor in between some fresh bread. Only thing with the pricing is that I have seen cheaper for tacos. Overall, this is a great place for authentico comida at a mucho good price. You might as well bow down to the«King» Burrito.

My favorite is the king burrito. Beef, refried beans, pico, chile relleno, cheese. They will charge 75 cents for leaving out beans cause these people can’t be up in this joint, slinging some cigar sized burritos. That bean gap is filled with more meat, guacamole etc. Ambiance: YOUARENOWLEAVINGOREGON. PLEASECOMEAGAIN. WELCOMETOMEXICO. Especially when you see the INSIDE of the establishment. But who cares? We’re you planning on proposing here? Didn’t think so. You came for a fried machaca or chimichanga. Or whatever your impeccable taste calls for . I see other people complaining«it’s not that great, I can’t believe I drove for 45 minutes for this.» Well… don’t do that. Feel like driving forever to get authentic Mexican food??? Drive to Mexico. Now, If you’re within 15 minutes and want some better-than-muchas gracias Oregon burrito, call in an order for pick up. They just changed their hours back from 12pm closing to 11pm. So call in your orders earlier than 10:30 ish. Syoy.

I love the bean and cheese burrito, fried. They used to have something like the Oregon burrito but they took it off the menu? Anyways, if you ask for things fried, they sound like they don’t know what you’re talking about. Just say«chimichanga style» and they seem to catch the drift. The pastor platter is a little over seasoned occasionally, otherwise it’s a good option. And the serving is generous. The wet burrito is OK. Don’t get me wrong, the flavor is great but I’m not a fan because I like to be able to hold my burrito. Who eats pizza, candy bars or burritos with a fork??? Maybe I’m a savage. I’d say the only place that rivals this one is Tienda Santa Cruse, but that’s in St Johns. Come here for the best burritos you’ll find in the area. Sure it’s not 5 star if you actually from SoCal or Mexico. But you’re in Portland where usually, your best hope is icky Taco Bell. Syoy.

My husband and I recently moved to Portland from California, so we have really high standards for breakfast burritos. I’ve been looking all over for a place that puts fries(not just potatoes) in their breakfast burritos. Well, king burrito definitely has the right idea. The bacon was more smoky than I’m used to but hat was a nice touch. Though, dare I say it, there may have been a bit too much bacon for my liking. Everything else about it was great though. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a photo. We got the burritos to go and an order of cheese fries to eat in the restaurant. The cheese fries were scalding hot, they were so fresh. They were a little greasy, but I think that’s because they were straight out of the fryer. Bonus: the red sauce is super authentic! It’s delicious!

They have very reasonable prices & the carne asada tacos there are amazing. The workers were super nice, it was a clean place, it had great parking for Portland and the burritos looked huge. I didn’t get one but i saw them. I highly recommend going there.

On the recommendation of a coworker, I decided to give King Burrito a shot, and boy howdy I’m sure glad that I did! I ordered the tacos carnitas, three of them to be exact. They were so delicious I devoured them in less than 5 minutes! Only thing that could be better is if they offered horchata. Definitely going back here again and again. The price was amazing as well, 1.50 per taco. Heck yeah! Normally I am not a fan of the green«avocado» like stuff that some places put on their tacos, but let me tell you, the green stuff they have on their tacos here, amazing!

Decent mexican food if you’re in a pinch(or have a hangover) :P Coming from San Diego, I expected a little bit more from such rave reviews, but the tacos still hit the spot. Prices are generous here as well. I wish our mexican food was still that cheap! There’s a parking lot in the back, including an entrance. Good amount of tables.

ATTENTIONPRETENTIOUSMEXICANFOODAFICIONADOS&CALIFORNIATRANSPLANTS: COMEHERE. COMEHERENOWANDOFTEN. I am going to go ahead right now and label King Burrito the only worthy Mexican food place in Portland. I don’t want vegan tacos, I don’t want chicken curry tacos, I don’t want upscale«this is a good place to grab a margarita» tacos– I want the real stuff. I don’t even care about ambiance, I’ll order from a dumpster practically. This is how much I love and need good, authentic Mexican food. And, man, King Burrito delivers. It’s not too far out in North Portland, there’s easy I-5 access even. They have street parking and a lot in the back. I don’t necessarily recommend eating in, unless you’re getting tacos(wrapping them up in a bag loses the presentation factor), because the ambiance in here is pretty darn bad. Bright green walls and plastic patio furniture for seating. Yeah, it’s bad. I don’t give a sh*t though, because the food is so darn good. Take it to go and enjoy it in your Pinterest-worthy apartment. They are dirt cheap. Dirt. Cheap. My «King Burrito» was just over $ 5. It was huuuuge and had a cheese-stuffed jalapeño in it. What did I deserve to deserve such goodness?! I love you, King Burrito. You delicious taste of California. I adore you.
