The burgers are no Killer Burger, but for the price and convenience, they aren’t bad. From 3 – 7PM every day of the week, you can get a burger and fries for $ 5. There’s also corn dogs for $ 1 and they aren’t bad either. The batter is very crispy and nicely fried, but the hot dog inside is the super processed kind. The service here is pretty bad. I ask for light mayo now because one time they put so much mayo on my burger it was falling off in globs and I couldn’t eat the thing. I’ve had my order made wrong more than once, and the people working there are always bored looking and can be a bit rude. I wouldn’t go there if weren’t for the happy hour deals and the convenient location near my apartment.

Waited at the walk up window for five minutes before giving up and going inside, Ordered cheese burger and fries which took like 15 minutes to get in a totally empty store. Fries were good but burger had way too much sauce which made it real tricky to eat :(in a convenient location and I love burgs so… idk I’ll go again maybe I’ll get a better burg

I really enjoy their burgers here for what they are. I love when people use fresh crunchy lettuce on burgers and they always seem to cook them just right. The PSU location seems to be lacking in maybe… the personality department. Maybe this is because most employees are college kids? I’m not sure but no one ever seems to be super happy to be here. I do fancy their happy hour(nothing special or different) but $ 1 corn dogs!!! and their joe burger for like $ 5 so cant reallly complain. This place is a couple of blocks away from home so if i’m ever craving a decent burger, this is the place.

good food for a decent price. but why is it so impossble to substitute tots for the fries if they’re both $ 2.50? im a grown man i should be able to eat tots instead of fries whenever i want

I usually go here for the corn dog /cheap beer special, which is great, but this time I got a burger to go and it was still frozen in the middle. Womp womp.

Great burgers! I had the Big Kahuna, and I highly recommend it. I added mayo and tomatoes, but that’s just me. Both the fries and onion rings arrived hot, and remained that way throughout the meal. There is nice retro urban beat dance music four big-screen televisions, if you need your game fix. The staff is friendly, sociable and efficient. Great for lunch and/or dinner.

The Joe’s Burgers near Portland State University is a fun place to be. They have televisions and a wonderful happy hour from 3PM-7PM. Such place always has a long, exciting menu, complete with both classics and more advanced things than that. I went here in the middle of my commute. My meal was a burger basket, and a separate drink. It came after about eight minutes. The fries were plenty, while the burger was delicious. I must give similar criticism that I’ve given on occasion. The hamburger was made on somebody’s good day, but I felt that I could have made it at home, even with my very limited cooking abilities. This is somewhat redeemed by the likes of the ability to refill fountain drinks. Joe’s Burgers should be great for lunch.

Although the Big Kahuna burger was ok, the fries were horrible. Coming from a french fry fanatic, who has tried many different fries, from food carts to little eateries, the fries were on the lower side of ok. They were too crisp, over done, hard, and without any flavor. Unless I’m in dire need of food, I probably won’t be coming back here again.

Had the seasonal oregon berry shake. It was very good. Burgers are average and on the steeper side in terms of price. Fries are always crunchy and cooked well.

Shakes are pretty good. Fries are alright. Burgers taste like they were marinaded in water for a couple weeks before they were cooked. The flavor is almost nonexistent. The prices are just a little bit too high to reflect such obvious low quality!

This used to be my sanctuary between classes. Now you have to buy food in order to have a drink. A drink?! Happy hour prices increased and now you lock the bathrooms so we have to get a nasty key to use it. Boo Joe’s… Boo

Great convenience. Friendly staff. Good food in general but they could really use an improvement on the bread they use on the buns. I still will be a customer though.

Super slow service. Cold food. Do I need to say more? My food was waiting on the counter and I had to request they give it to me?

Lol, just called this place to place an order for a late night meal at 11:40PM. Their hours clearly state 1AM both on the Unilocal page and on their website it also says walk-up window open until 1AM. The guy answered the phone and said«we’re closed» then just hung up on me. Get your info straight, and maybe I’ll consider changing my review.

I was surprised by how small the menu actually is. There isn’t a whole lot of options. Do you want a regular burger, a cheese burger or maybe a double cheese burger? and then you have to buy french fries on the side. They don’t come with them! If their burgers were fancier, and tasted better and the portion was huge, I could see why they wouldn’t include them with your burger. I found the taste to be that of a cross between a Wendy’s Whopper and a McDonalds burger. Call me spoiled but there is something great about toasted bread on your hamburger. I think they hold better together, and don’t make you feel like either the ingredients are going to soak into the bun before you finish, or just fall apart in your hand when trying to dig in. These guys don’t toast their buns is what I am trying to say. On top of that, they don’t offer a variety of sauces. You don’t know what sauces they have. You have to ask. Otherwise, you are stuck with the ketchup they have waiting for you at the tables. They don’t even have salt and pepper on the tables. You have to ask for that too. No utensils or anything. I feel like this place would have been better as just a food cart vs. an actual establishment. The atmosphere at the restaurant was nice. Up to date, super clean, and modern. Comfortable tables. That is about it. Oh, they had a man working there who was on his lunch break and over heard me asking my husband about what sauces they had. And he offered to go get me the mustard packets, which he didn’t need to do. Thought that was going above and beyond especially when he was on his lunch break. Thank you so much.

I tried Joe’s Burgers for the first time today at lunch and it did not disappoint. The guacamole bacon burger was amazing! I really liked the cilantro mayo and it made the burger even better. The prices are not bad for a full meal and they even have a happy hour. It is a pretty nice place and I definitely will be going back to try other things on the menu.

Alright, you got me on the chili burger… oh my GAWD is that delicious. It’s like a sloppy joe, but not… I come here sometimes when Ive finished my workout out later than I’m supposed to and don’t want to spend much time cooking at home before bed. I usually order a double regular burger with sweet potato fries, which is what I ordered today. I was starving so I then ordered the chili burger and I think I might get that much more often now… They lose a star because the beef probably isn’t grassfed(I should ask) and they use HEINZ ketchup. God damn it I AMSICKOFHEINZBUT I LOVEKETCHUPTOOMUCHTONOTEATHEINZ. Little big burger spoiled me with their ketchup and it was one of the first places I went out to eat in Portland so I expected more places to be on their game. The young people that work there are very nice too, maybe it’s a Portland thing?

Stopped in tonight for the first time and I’m glad I did and didn’t let that minus half a star stop me!!! Nine bucks for the Black & Blue burger and an order of sweet potato fries was well worth every dime

Wow! Joe’s Burgers is not known for such crappy service but today, they take the cake! My husband Don and I went to the Joe’s on PSU campus and were treated to some literal SHIT. We came in, ordered our sandwiches and sat down. The food came, great, all was going well. They DO have wonderful food. Then I noticed to my right, about ten feet away, that there was a service man of some kind setting up shop to repair something near the floor. He started to unscrew the lid from something on the floor and in only a matter of a minute or two, I noticed the unmistakable odor of SHIT. I was aghast. I’m halfway through my chicken sandwich and I am wondering, «are they mopping up the fecal matter of some person who had an accident on the floor?» I turn to my husband and ask, «what…what is that? Is that SHIT?» And he says, «they’re opening up the sewer.» FLOORED! Totally FLOORED! «While we try to eat?!» I demand to know. The crew can see I’m VERY disgusted and yet at no time do they approach the table to apologize. Furthermore, they KNEW that this was going to happen but at NO time did they warn my husband or me, or ANYONE else that they were going to conduct SEWERREPAIR…((IN)) the restaurant, DURING business hours! I then pushed our table, in disgust about four feet to our left, to get away from the stench of fecal waste. The whole time, I’m thinking that when you can SMELL fecal matter, its because there are microscopic particles of SHIT in the air and they are going to land on your food and if you can SMELL them, that means they are going INSIDE you! The reality is, this is how people get SICK! The crew saw me push our table away, but did not do anything like apologize or offer us a fucking free Burger coupon. PATHETIC! I sat there, and started to feel nauseated and felt like I was going to gag. I fought the desire to vomit. Not only am I publishing my rant HERE but I’m going to contact the manager of the store and tell them how horrible our experience was. When we got up to leave, after having finishing our sandwiches, so we could get the Hell out of there, my husband dropped by the counter and politely suggested that if they’re going to do SEWERREPAIR, they might do it another time, other then when customers are EATING. The guy said, «Well, then we’d have to close down the restaurant» like there was simply NO other solution. Guess what MORON? That’s what you DO. When your’re going to be repairing the SEWER, you do it when customers are NOT around. I don’t know if we will ever go back there. Today was simply DISGUSTING!

If you want a burger, Joe’s is just fine. I won’t pretend it’s one of the best burgers you’ll ever eat, but it beats fast food and still won’t break the bank. The menu is simple. You can get a hamburger or cheeseburger. You can add chili. You can get a single or double. Any burger can be made instead with a turkey or veggie patty. But beyond that there’s not too much to the menu. Add fries(or sweet potato fries) and a drink, and you’re set. They do have a pretty solid happy hour from 3 – 7. It includes $ 2 local microbrews and $ 1PBR. Stop by to watch a game on one of their several TVs. Bring your computer and use their free WiFi. Overall, it’s not the best burger ever, but there’s also very little to complain about. I’m a fan.
