Einstein Bros Bagels

Sleep deprived from the finals, working on last assignment before road trip to Seattle. Got spinach florentine warmed and cut, as well as red velvet for a friend. Vanilla hazelnut latte is bit of sweet side, not that different than star bucks. Good customer service and average atmosphere. Bagels are decent price and two dozen selections, sand which is about a dozen with vegan options so should work out for most people.

The Einstein Brothers Bagels near Portland State University manages to consistently stay at average level in it’s endeavors across the board. There are bagels, salads, sandwiches and beverages. Since bagels are in their name, they constantly create variety after variety to please customers. It as if they are the Baskin-​Robbins of bagels. Plenty of space is available, but the location is not all that conducive to visiting.
My visit here landed me ordering the pretzel bagel with cream cheese. Since it was paired with a chocolate milk, my grand total was $ 4.25. The bagel had a good taste, but was not worthy of noting. Most of their beverages are a little overpriced. Still, the value was good with all that I got to eat. The cream cheese was spread skillfully across the two halves of the bagels.

I don’t know why I try. The rest of my office refuses to come here it’s that bad.
In 10 mins I saw them mess up 3 out of 5 orders. It is truly incredible. Soooooo done.

The new bagel toppers are good and if you mash them together they’re basically a bagel sandwich for half the price. But get it to go because they play their shitty music really loud so you have to yell over it to be heard.

I love that this place is open so early! I usually work a 6am shift at work and when I realized that this place was up and running at 5am I was thrilled! The workers are so sweet and the bagels are tasty! I just wish they were open later too! Sometimes a girl needs bagels after 5pm…

Is it really so hard to make an adequate bagel, apply an adequate amount of cream cheese, and present it in an appetizing fashion?

«Sorry we are out of most of our stuff» that was the quote I got when I walked in. Then it was sorry you have to place your order at the cash register, where you can’t see what bagels they actually have left. How does a Bagel shop let itself run out of over half their bagels at 10:30am on a Tuesday. Never again.

This is a review for their plain bagel. I mean, you can’t go wrong with a plain bagel. Haha.
This is one of those places where if you need a bagel, this is your spot. Bagels are mediocre. They have a variety of spreads– I’ve only had the strawberry.
I’ve never seen a fly near the bagels, thank goodness, because I wouldn’t even order anything. The stairs near the door are awkward and I’ve tripped over it a couple of times…
Can’t really say much about this place. Haha

It speaks volumes that I haven’t been here for over a year despite working nearby.
Today’s chili tasted okay (slight step up from Wendy’s) but overall mediocre.

It’s Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. and it seems as if the staff has been working 36 hours straight. Lots of huffing and puffing, misread orders, and overall frustration. Counter lady is very nice, but the one making bagels needs rest, customer service training or a new job.
The food has a Subway processed-​like taste to it.

Bad service, overpriced, and felt dirty every time I went there. One good thing it got me to do was remember how easy it is to make a bagel at home and throw it into a baggie. Buy a bag for the same price as a ‘gourmet’ bagel, and eat for a week.

This Einstein brother’s customer service is really terrible. The quality of the bagels has gone down over the years. I mainly came for the breakfast sandwich which was okay but it taste like it had been in the freezer and They’d just took it out & microwaved it… no flavor!
On the receipts they give you a survey to do for free coffee I did the survey the coffee is horrible there’s no words to describe the sledge.

Not impressed. I have been a couple of times because it is close, but I will seriously be reconsidering going back. Both times I went there the staff seemed very uninterested in thier job and they where not friendly at all. The food is very sub par for the price. I just ordered the baverian chicken sandwich, and honestly Wendy’s does it much better. The chicken was like stringy rubber, you couldn’t taste the cheddar and the bun was too crispy. Also I got the fruit cup which literally came with 5 small pieces of fruit. All this was $ 7.50, which for the quality I feel it was very over priced. Get it together and I might come back!

Been here a few times, just because I live near by. After this last experience, nothing on earth would bring me back here.
Was with my boyfriend, waiting about 15 minutes for a freakin’ sandwich. (Which we had beat the lunch rush and were first in line).
Finally, we hear our order come up and a hefty gentleman took his order! In the bagel makers defense, he did try to confirm the order with him, but he agreed and went on his way.
Brought this to the staffs attention, they all just blankly looked at each other, apologized and agreed to make another.
After another 10 minutes, hefty walks back in realizing it’s not what he ordered. They take the order from his hand and give it to us, which is plainly UNACCEPTABLE. Seriously? Just make him a fucking new one.
For all I know, this guy went around the corner and stuck in dirty fingers or whatever in the sandwich. Disgusting!!!
After waiting about 30 minutes total, just to get an overpriced tainted sandwich. We tossed it, and went somewhere else.
Take your «free bagel and shmear» coupon and shove it up your ass.

run of your mill bagel place. it’s a chain and they are pretty much all the same. except they are running this happy hour drink special. seems like all of portland has a happy hour drink special. ½ price any drink 3−5pm.

Their bagels are okay, but nothing special. The bagel case looks disgusting, but the staff is friendly.
Oh yeah and that’s right, rat problems. Enough said.

I’ve been here a few times and let me just say, I am always quite unimpressed. Disgusted is more like it. I don’t know if it is just me, but I always notice the fruit flies swarming around the bagels under the glass. It is enough to make someone lose their appetite. It doesn’t surprise me that Einstein bagels has recently been on the news due to a rat incident behind the glass counter. On a lighter note, love the design of the shop and the cute little bagel man that is the mascot. The staff seem friendly as well.

I like them. Aways fast and friendly. The bagels are standard. Though the one time I got the everything bagel it was over the top salty to the point I couldn’t eat it.
I really like their herb cream cheese. Just a decent bagel.

Unfortunately incompetence is the lowest common denominator here. They started off strong when they first opened but have quickly fallen. The service is lackluster at best, the speed at which orders are taken doesn’t match the type of place this is. I can’t think of a slower place to get breakfast. They frequently half-​ass orders, either not toasting it or throwing on either little to no spread to a full inch. No middle ground here.

This location is very convenient. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly.
The egg paninis and hot paninis are really tasty! Especially the spinach and bacon and Italian Chicken paninis. I always leave very full and satisfied.
There is plenty room to stay and enjoy your purchase. There is also free wifi. There are multiple outlets to charge your phone or computer as well.
I wish the business hours were extended. I would enjoy eating Einstien Bagels for dinner too!
