I love this little spot that has nutritious snacks and food for my pal! Prices can be expensive but, hey– it’s worth every penny. Staffs are very friendly and informative, and the store is always clean and well-organized!(easy to find what I’m looking for) Convenient location as well!

Since moving to NE Portland, we’ve loved this place. Great service and the loyalty rewards will be wonderful once we get to 13 bags of food. Very friendly service and the treat buffet keeps our dogs getting new treats every day.

4 locations, very friendly staff that really knows a lot about animal nutrition. Products, food and treats are top-​notch. Great place.

Even though this is the closest pet store to my home, I don’t go here just because it’s convenient: I go here because it’s awesome! There’s a great selection of well-​made and high-​quality treats, beds, and toys, and the folks who work here are so knowledgeable about their products.
Case in point: tonight I stopped in with one of my dogs immediately post-​surgery. She had a huge incision on her neck, and I needed to buy a harness for her since she’s got to be collarless for a while. She was stressed, nervous, and in some pain; not fun to wrangle. Rachel immediately popped over to help us out, and was the best! She picked out just the right harness, gently helped us try it on, and adjusted it to fit — all the while making Lili feel better with some tasty treats. Such a little thing, but it was so nice to have such care and concern at the end of a long day for both of us! Rachel rocks. (And the harness is perfect.)
I’m lucky it’s not out of my way to come here, but even if it’s out of yours, it’s worth it.

After moving from Chicago, we were looking for a good pet store similar to Kriser’s. We seem to have found a store that’s even better.

A great go-​to pet store on Alberta. It’s hard to walk along Alberta with my dog and not stop in here. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by all of the very nice workers and they usually give the pups a treat (could be why it’s hard to walk past here with my dog…) Everyone I have encounter that works here is super helpful and friendly, and has an obvious love for dogs/​animals.
They have a good selection of pet food, toys, and treats. I especially like the treats in the front of the store. They are in buckets, you serve yourself into a bag and you pay based on weight. There is a list of all the ingredients of each treat which is great if you have a special diet for your pup (I do not but its still nice to know there is nothing weird in the treats) & they are very reasonably priced.

Just happened to stumble upon this place, but what a cool find. First impression was the clean and hip atmosphere. As we walked in we were greeted with smiles. It’s a really unique pet store compared to the big giant companies.
Walking in, to the right there are a variety of pet foods and dog treats in these containers you can choose from. There is a wall of pet toys to the left with a lot of options to choose from. It was cool to browse and look at everything you can get for your pets. It was like wonderland and I think I was more excited than my pets for them to try all the cool stuff I bought from there.
Very friendly service and pet friendly environment. Overall, I would recommend anyone to come and check out this local business.

Wow! This is definitely the pet store for you if you live in NE. The staff are wonderful and are so sweet to my pup. If I ever have any questions they are happy to spend time with me figuring out what is best for my pup and his lifestyle.
The staff is composed of a variety of experts including pet nutritionists who can help you pick out exactly the type of food for your animal’s diet. As well as trainers who are happy to give pointers, suggest local vets, parks, and the list goes on.
Basically I’m hooked! We go at least once a week, if we walk by my pup is practically dragging me inside because he loves it here so much.

Ok. I have to write an honest update to my slightly snarky review. Funny, super weird story here… and proof that Portland is indeed a small town.
I’ve noticed two women who occasionally walk their dog by my house. Theirs is a 100% exact duplicate of my black Lab. Last week on Thursday I was at Woodlawn park with my dog and as I was leaving the park, I saw one of these women there with her Lab. She stopped me and asked if our dogs could meet. I totally agreed… Labs love each other and clearly she’s my neighbor. We started talking and instantly hit it off. We talked for a while and our dogs just sat next to each other totally at ease. As I left I noticed her partner was waiting in their car with their other dog. I waved as I passed by.
No more than 1 minute later as I was walking home, they pull up next to me, roll down their window and say «Hey Daniel, we want to ask you a question…» Lucy introduced her partner named Heather. Heather says «Um… hi Daniel! Um… did you happen to leave a not so great review of Healthy Pets Northwest on Unilocal??» They both had huge smiles on their faces. No effin WAY. Damn! BUSTED!!! I couldn’t believe they recognized me. I mean seriously, what are the odds? I couldn’t stop laughing and totally had to fess up.
So it turns out Heather is one of the managers at Healthy Pets. She said my review caused a ruckus with the staff and the owner. They were horrified. She wasn’t mad in any way, shape or form, just really concerned that I didn’t understand their pricing structure or the ins and outs of having a pet supply store in Portland. In the nicest, sweetest way you could ever imagine, Heather described how they price certain items, how difficult it’s becoming with bigger chain stores undercutting the prices of the smaller stores and how their profit margin is far smaller than I most of you would think. It kinda shocked me actually.
At that point I was so impressed with Heather being honestly and genuinely concerned to answer any and all of my questions and make sure I understood everything, I felt kind of like an idiot. I’ve never, in my entire life, had anyone from any store sit and discuss concerns I had with their business like Heather did.
It became instantly clear to me that Healthy Pets really cares more about keeping customers happy and providing excellent products and excellent service than making a bazillion dollars in profits. In this world, not many businesses are like that… it’s all too often about maximum profit at maximum cost. I will now be shopping at Healthy Pets.
I also have to add that on my first visit I asked if they could get large sized bully sticks for dogs. On my second visit just a week later, there they were, large sized bully sticks. How’s that for serving your customers?

I’m so glad this place exists. Every single person who works here is an absolute gem. Incredibly friendly and approachable, as well as being extremely knowledgeable.
I splurged on a nice leather collar for my pup and I was helped in the store with the fitting. After a few months, the metal buckle snapped. I called the store and they let me know it would not be a problem to replace it. Six months later! Without batting an eye! They took a photo of the broken buckle in the store, gave me a brand new collar, and sent the old one back to the maker. It must have been a bad batch of buckles, because my new one (from the same maker) has lasted for over a year now.
I was in a separate time looking to upgrade my pups food from the Kirkland brand to something nicer. My Husky/​Pit has a sensitive stomach and has always had digestion issues. Even after following all the thorough instructions on how to introduce new food to a dog (slowly, add pumpkin if needed, etc.) my pup was still having issues. I had ¾ of the bag left and again, brought it in and was refunded in full — no questions asked.
I’ve purchased some antlers, bones, toys — all which he has loved, still loves. Im also really impressed that they know so much about each brand that they carry (where the protein is sourced, manufactured, etc.) You can tell they really love what they do. Even though I’ve moved further away from this location — it’s still my go to place and will be for quite some time.

The staff here got me on a whole nother level with my dog. My dog is going nuts over these «Organic Free Range Treats: Bison» that I bought here and every time I come home he’s always following me specifically because he thinks I’mma give him one of those treats. And if you think that my dog doesn’t have the mental capacity to remember these treats over any other… you’ve got no clue. He ate the whole bag over two weeks age and he keeps coming round the area where he made the mess. Thanks Healthy Pets Northwest.

These women know their stuff!!! They are all educated on holistic diet and even herbal supplements for your pets health! They really, I mean ‘really’ care about animals and are so kind and smart! I love this place! Sure it may cost more than buying at a big chain but the educated staff makes it sooooo worth every extra penny! You will not find meow mix or the likes here! That would be like feeding your pet Mc Donalds!

Really amazing staff and customer service. I love their bulk dog treat bar. They have grain free options for the pooches that are sensitive to wheat as well as traditional biscuits at $ 6/​lb. My personal favorite is the fish and blueberry grain free since it’s smelly and bite sized, perfect for training dogs. They also have the high value, high protein treats like dried cod skins and breast jerky for $ 1.50/oz.
Great selection of all the other pet supplies you’d need: toys, food, treats, training aids, etc at decent prices especially for a boutique type store. I bought a 15′ tie down for $ 13.99, cheaper than PetSmart and it’s nice to support a smaller local business.
The staff was awesome and knowledgable. They had good recommendations for dog walkers and other pet services, so feel free to ask them to point you in the right direction. I’ll definitely be back and would recommend them to any pet owner.

Healthy Pets Northwest is great! A good source for grain free food-​Nice selection of biscuits too. They have sweaters and other extras too. I actually use this store as a reliable food source for my dogs. In fact we left with an extra bag of food that was free after buying our 11^th bag! The friendly staff even carried it to the car for me and since I had just had a back injury I needed the help.
I feel like every one who works there acts with as much care as a business owner would when dealing with me. I also feel like everyone there really does want the best for my dogs.
Seriously this place is one of the things that I love about my neighborhood.

Stopped by here the other day because we wanted to get a few more Christmas goodies for our dog. Nice selection of everything — food, toys, treats, beds, etc. and I thought the prices weren’t that bad (like some of the other places in town).
Service was great and all of the staff was very friendly. Since it’s close to where we live, we’ll most likely be back very soon to buy more stuff for our dog.

The staff here is extremely friendly and very knowledgable.
I stopped in to ask about grain free food to help clear up my dogs ear infection. The owner took the time to learn the exact allergy symptoms my lab was showing. She looked up the ingredients in the current food he was eating and thoroughly explained the benefits to the dog food brands she was recommending. Because my dog is a picky eater, she provided me with samples to see what he liked the best. She then asked if she could make a few notes and follow up to see what food would work best.
I was very impressed with her kindness and patients to be so thorough. I strongly recommend this pet food store if you want to be confident in the food your feeding your pet.

Great neighborhood pet store. Comprehensive dog food selection. All the choice brands you would hope to see Arcana, Canidae, Nutrisource and lots more. Plus raw diet.
Crazy amount of toys and puzzles.
Cat stuff too which I’m sure is just as great, but we only have a dog.
Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about pets.

Stopped in to check it out on our walk down Alberta on a Saturday. We were greeted immediately by Luka who was really nice and helpful. They had a great selection of quality dog/​cat kibbles and a large selection of raw foods.
I also love the décor and their garage door wall.
This would be a fantastic place to stop and get most anything you need for your dog or cat.

Hank and I love this place. They have a more quality selection of pet foods compared to other stores around town. Also great customer service. They remember Hank by name and offer here help with anything I might need. Hank and I thank you.

Heather has helped me multiple times with pet food issues. She is THE BEST! My cat used to throw up quite often after eating her food. I always thought she just ate too fast or something, but apparently she wasn’t getting enough protein in her diet. We now add some
Dried fish (cod and salmon) to her food, she gets more protein and doesn’t throw up!
