My husband and I come here frequently. It seems the service and quality of food has gone down hill a little lately. Slower service. I’ve had to send my food back twice because the order was wrong. Probably need a management check as you seem to be getting so popular, your quality is slipping.

Where’d the poutine go? FAIL! And hire another server, she’s working hard but service was ridiculously slow. Been there a hundred times, but recent changes are not good.

Sandeiches are all good. Have tried the pulled pork, bahn mi, several of the burgers including the vegetarian version and all were good. The beer selection is equally good. Not overwhelmingly large, just enough to pick from. The downside has been service. Friendly but inefficient and sometimes slow. Two of the last three times something was forgotten on an order. Once an order was just wrong. Trying to order beer after ordering food is hard when nobody cones by to check. Overall good, but expect some service problems.

Food, staff, and overall vibe of the place has totally changed, and not in a good way. Not sure what happened, but I don’t recommend this place at all. Much better places in Portland to visit.

Not a big beer drinker, but their selection seemed to be pretty impressive. Expect anywhere from $ 5-$ 8 for a pint. Ordered the $ 6 happy hour cheeseburger, and it was ok. Nothing special, and actually kinda flavorless. Food took a while to come out too, despite it being a Sunday night with only about 12 people in the entire place. The place is clean and has a pleasant vibe to it. However, it was really WARM inside, for some reason.

Great food!!! No really, great food!!! I had the Stumptown burger, and the freshly made burger was on point in all respects. Also had the Sweet potato fries on the side, and they hit the spot. My sister had the salad that was awesome. Everything was Awesome, Awesome Awesome!!!

Great choice of drinks. Lots of beer on tap, good selection of liquor, and even some wine. The food is delicious. Come during a Blazers game and get the wings

Pretty good and fairly inoffensive. Nice in warmer weather when they roll up the east wall. First place in town i had poutine. 24 taps and a pretty good range of styles. Today stumbled on to their IPA blind tasting they do every January – 12 samples, in flight of six, to match the beer with the name. Not sure how well we did, but a good range of IPAs, maybe only one I didn’t like. Service is friendly and the food a tick above average pub grub.

The guy and I have been here twice now and it hasn’t disappointed. We ordered a couple of beers the first time. I love how they describe each of the beers on the menu and have a rotating selection. When we first walked in, we were surprised by the atmosphere, but immediately felt comfortable when we sat in one of the(three?) booths. Next time we came in, we ordered the steak salad and the quinoa and beet salad, which I requested balsamic vinaigrette for instead of the dijon aioli. I really liked mine, but his steak salad was a bit boring. They definitely could have put a bit more effort into it. Our servers both times have been great, though. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and overall good service. I’m sure we’ll be back to try the sandwiches and burgers.

We unknowingly walked in 20 minutes before they closed, so I really appreciated not getting the cold should’ from the dude working. He was actually very nice and personable. I have a guilt when I go to places before they’re closing because I’m terrified of inconveniencing the employees, so it’s nice to be alleviated of that. We got a couple beers from their very massive menu of craft beers and I didn’t like mine, but that’s not their fault. The poutine was hot and tasty. Pretty good for leaving the Hawthorne Theater and walking by this place on our way back.

I’d probably rate this place 3.5 if I could, but I’ll round up. I went later on a Sunday — around 9pm. They were pretty slow, and I checked to see when the closed(11) so I didn’t think I’d be intruding. The bartender joked that he thought I’d be fine but I felt like they were annoyed to see me. I ordered my food and a beer(local pale ale) and it was all delicious. I got a second beer because of how tasty it was. The burger(it was their signature burger, can’t remember what it was called) was fantastic. It had BBQ sauce and caramelized onions on it. Awesome combo. The bartender was friendly throughout, though it seemed like he was more interested in talking to his friends than the job. Apparently they ran out of half of the food on the menu. I chanced into getting the last burger(they ran out of buns). Overall, good for a quick bite and beer, but maybe go earlier in the day.

Good food, good beer, adequate service. The beer lines are always clean, and that is their strength: the beer selections. Food is good. I just tried the surf and turn and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Definitely worth getting for $ 18. Our service needs a lot of work. Josh was our server and seemed very rushed and impatient with us. He did not ask whether we would like another drink, and when we did, we never had a chance to catch his attention. We’ve been to this establishment several times and are always disappointed when he is our server. We look at each other and say, «Uh, oh. He’s our server tonight.» All-in-all, this is a good spot to eat. I’d recommend requesting your server next time.

Damn good burger! I popped in solo because I had a burger craving. I was impressed by the overall menu and its unique flavor combinations. Tried to Espresso Burger($ 12) sans bun which had an espresso rub, carmelized onions, Swiss, delicious bacon and such, along with with a mountain of hand cut fries. Pretty low key neighborhood place. I don’t drink so I had an iced tea, which was flavorful. Really worth trying this place if you’re in the neighborhood! Check out their happy hour deals, too.

Came for the beer, stayed for the poutine. I went on a scorching day, so not sure if that kept most people from leaving the house. Roughly two dozen taps here, got myself a pint of Boneyard RPM to start. There will be seasonal offerings depending on the time of year. I initially asked for the large poutine($ 10), but the server talked me into getting a small($ 8). For once, I’m a bit glad she did that, as the«small» portion was still a decent-sized bowl of fries, gravy, and cheese curds. Perfectly done fries, a fairly good portion of yellow/orange curds, and delicious gravy. Places like The Original Dinerant and the now-defunct Sideshow Eatery also used those yellow/orange curds. Overall, this was one of the better poutines I’ve had in Portland. As expected, the food coma set in, likely helped by the temperature outside. That won’t stop me from seeing how big the large poutine is one day. Solid spot.

Two stars because the garlic fries were good and the beer list was great. The server was welcoming at the beginning and even brought some beer samples for me. I would have liked a little salt for the fries, but there was none on the table and no opportunity to ask(more on that below). I did eat all of the fries so they must not have been too bad. I ordered my burger medium rare. It came out well done & dry and this is where I get my panties in a bunch, because there was no opportunity to get it the way I ordered it, a way which would have made it edible for me and made it worth the $ 15 I paid for it. There was a hurried ingenuous checkback — «do you have everything you need?» with absolutely no opportunity for an actual response or I would have said«will you please have them make this medium rare»?(which wouldn’t have answered his actual question, but whatever.) I ate about a quarter of it. No comment from the sever on that. He asked if I’d like it boxed up. No, I didn’t. Still no comment from the server. I was the only one that ordered my burger with a temp so it seems like every burger is served well done because every other burger looked the same as mine. There were quality ingredients, but for me that can’t overcome well done. Granted, my friends enjoyed their burgers. However, I clearly didn’t, and it bugs me that I want given opportunity to get it made the way I ordered it. Look, I was enjoying my time/conversation with good friends, so didn’t want to make a deal out out of it — it would have interrupted our connection for me to flag down the server and get it corrected since I was never given an opportunity to comment. Sometimes this city’s lack of hospitality is pathetic. I can’t decide whether we are plagued by amateurs or apathy. Maybe it’s too easy for some restaurants to make a buck here? Startup costs are relatively low and and this place has a great location and was packed. Maybe so many Portlanders settle and return for subpar that some restaurants don’t have to really care about their customers experience? I paid $ 15 for that well done dry burger. I pay $ 15 for an amazing burger at Trifecta. They don’t genuinely ask me how my meal is there, either, which is also inhospitable(Portland), but because it’s amazing, I’ll go back to Trifecta.

I am upset with myself. I picked what was the best ‘sounding’ burger on the menu; the Espresso burger. I’m upset because it was so amazingly delicious that I will never get a chance to taste any of the other burgers that this establishment has on their menu. Why would I take the chance when perfection between two buns just hit my face? Don’t take that last sentence figuratively. Sure, they make good burgers, so they can just lax on their fries? NOPE! The homemade fries are scrumptulescent! Oh… yeah, they have beer too! A great selection and ridiculously great prices. We met Jadd the manager today. He had wonderful recommendations and great customer service. I expect to be a regular. I love the vibe at this place.

Great Food, Beer, and Service. This was our second visit. First time for a 12 Taster Tray and fries; today for 6 Taster Tray and eats. I had the HH House Burger with a side of HH Curry Onion Rings. My dining partner ordered his Bacon and Gorgonzola Burger with fries from the dinner menu. The burgers were perfectly cooked with brioche buns and really good. We also enjoyed an order of Kimchi Deviled Eggs. We had Almanac Gose, Stickman Dry Hopped Sour, Breakside Saison, Payette Rye Pale Ale, Commons Dark Rye Farmhouse, and Base Camp Dunkel. The Payette Pale Ale had spicy notes and quite an unexpected Chili kick. Our favorite by far was the newly tapped Dark Rye Farmhouse and we ordered a pint to share as well. Lucky for us, we ended up with the same server from our last visit. He was fast, friendly, and attentive without hovering… excellent! We really enjoyed our visit to Hawthorn Hophouse today.

April is their cider month, so I was able to sample 8 ciders for $ 10. I think that’s a win for me! I hate IPA, and anything over IBU of 20, so really, ciders are my best choice(not so great for my figure, and the sugary hangover is horrendous). They have an extensive tap list, and the drinks are very reasonably priced. We got two samplers and one pint glass for $ 21, and when I saw the check I was pleasantly surprised! They also fill your growlers for $ 10 on Wednesdays, so the next time our growlers run empty, we would definitely come back and take advantage of this place!
