Being from Hawaii… Ramen is really popular and have bomb ass places to eat everywhere on the islands. Living in Vancouver sucks because there are no GOOD ramen places at all. It was worth the ½ hour drive to eat here. We got the Shoyu And Miso ramen with a small Karaage curry chicken all such great flavor and sooo good. We will be back.

I love noodles! And ramen. This place is great. They have good ramen, fast, and hot for you. They workers are hilarious. They like to joke around and are really easy to talk with. They give great recommendations. I have been here 3 times. And each bowl I have had was been good. The broth has a lot of flavor and really, a lot of flavor. Towards the end, it can be a little much, but it is at the same time, totally manageable. You can eat it there are the carts, or you can take it home. It tastes great either way! Oh, and they have roasted garlic for those garlic lovers that like a lot of top(like me)

5 stars for three simple reasons! 1. Amazing food, flavorful, noodle texture and time cooked is perfect! 2. It is a food truck but they have a covered dining area, which includes good lighting, weather proof, and the best part ceiling mounted space heaters! 3. Finally the staff were very helpful, accommodating, and they get it done fast!

YUM! Quick and easy ramen does exist in Portland! Good noodle texture and the broth was tasty for both dishes; I ordered the Tonkatsu and my Hubs ordered the Shoyu. His had some nice color, but I think mine was perfection in a bowl. The pork was nice and tender. They do have heated and covered tents to sit in on rainy days. I’d drive across town again for this tastiness. Dog/kid friendly sitting area, and there was a small fire pit going while we were there.

I had the Tonkatsu ramen, which was great given how cold the day was. The broth was rich, porky, and flavorful. The noodle was nice and snappy, a quality I prefer in my ramen noodles. The one big flaw to the bowl was that egg and Tonkatsu(pork) were incredibly salty, almost unbearable.

Food truck ramen? Yes! And, its actually pretty good! Stopped by this location to see what it was all about. Surprisingly, its a lot area full of other food trucks. I strictly came here for the ramen and it did not disappoint. I think the only issue is on the weekend it gets pretty busy and its hard to find tables. You literally have to be a hawk and jump for a table once you see people leave.

Absolutely legit. The best ramen I’ve had in town and it isn’t close, and it’s damn close to the real deal abroad as well. The Tonkotsu bowl is just incredible in its flavor from the broth to the pork, and the value is excellent as well. They’re quick even during the crazy busy times of that food cart hub, and always friendly. I want to try something different but the Tonkotsu is just so good every time. Try it spicy too. Damn good.

OK, this place is legit. For a food cart, it’s got some of the best ramen I’ve had on the West Coast. And I’ve had alot. So far, I’ve had the Tonkotsu — comes with pork shoulder(rather than belly, but still tender and fatty and flavorful), bamboo shoots, green onions, and a soft boiled egg. I also asked for some nori, which they put on for no extra charge. You can add on other ingredients, like spinach, corn, etc for fifty cents. The tonkotsu broth here is deep, rich, almost creamy, and penetratingly so. The noodles have a good bite, and the pork shoulder — surprisingly moist, tender and flavorful. The egg was soft and had a creamy yolk that was melt-in-your-mouth good. So I’ve seen some of the negative reviews on here, and I’m wondering if they might have had some of the other bowls — like the Shoyu or the Miso — I’m not sure. What I can say for sure is that the Tonkotsu bowl I had was incredibly flavorful and satisfying, and I will be back for more.

Love me some ramen, but this was easily the worst I’ve ever had. Flavorless broth, poorly cooked and prepared ingredients. I grew up in a house where you eat you food, and I stomached it down, but it was a real struggle. My wife didn’t grow up in such a house and left hers. EVERY other ramen spot in town is better than this. What do the rest of you folks give them? Six? Seven stars? STEERCLEAR.

Hapa is a food truck within the Tidbit Food, Farm, and Garden pod. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. It is comprised of handmade Ramen noodles, spinach, marinated egg, and chashu pork. I added shitake mushrooms, which is a little extra money. All the ingredients are solid and work well together. The pork based broth is amazing. It differentiates Hapa for me and is the reason I rank it as the best Ramen I tried in Portland. In comparison with the other Ramen food truck I tried, Umai, I also preferred Hapa’s noodles because they are slightly thicker. On the other hand, I like the pork at Umai a little bit more because pork shoulder is better quality meat. Nevertheless, the noodles and broth are the most critical elements of Ramen so Hapa is my favorite Ramen in Portland. Moreover, I asked the server at Hapa for recommendations in the pod and she gave me sound picks of NAMU and Azul Tequila Mexican Taqueria. If you are traveling the Portland area and looking for recommendations, please see

The first time I went here I got the curry ramen with kaarage on top and that was way too salty for me and the kaarage wasn’t as good as what I would make at home. The second time I got the tonkotsu and it was surprisingly less salty which I liked! The miso broth was so flavorful and savory. Next time I wanna try their curry bowls.

I’ve heard about this place for awhile now and have been so eager to try this place out. With all this hype, the food still did not disappoint. The food truck area is cute and allows for dining there. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen — since the server recommended it as it is one of the popular bowls. My bowl consisted of a boiled egg, which was perfectly melty and gelled at the same time, bamboo shoots, and pork. The noodles were not hard or too soft. The broth was savory, yet not too salty. Also, I ordered their tea plantation drink. It wasn’t bad. It was refreshing, especially for a warm/hot summer day. It was a little on the sour side for my tastebuds, but nonetheless, I was satisfied. If you’re looking for another good ramen place to eat at, then I’d recommend this place!

Chewy noodles. Melty, fatty pork. Nori, fishcake, spinach, egg, and added mushrooms provide a playground of mouth activities to compliment the exceptional, savory broth base. I am going to carve«rachel + shoyu 4evr» with a heart around it into a tree somewhere.

YUmm-y! Don’t come here thinking it’s just expensive top ramen. Homemade broth is the way to go. And smoked pork? Mmmm… I love ramen, and miss being able to eat their noodles. But guess what?! Sweet potato gluten free noodles still let me enjoy ramen like I should. And there’s a cutie that works nights. His name is Ryan. Beard with blue glasses. Go say hi! ;) Can’t wait to go visit again. Had the miso, but I need to work my way around the menu.

I don’t know if it’s a placebo effect or if the ramen was that good, but it was THATGOOD. Came here on my last day, well hour of my business trip to Portland. I had one meal left and I had to do it right. Mind you, I had the most gorgeous week of weather in Portland. Then of course, Portland couldn’t let me leave without a lil rain. It started cats, dogs, leopards, orangutangs, and other exotic animals. But lucky enough, I had the perfect bowl of ramen right in front of my small, yet beautiful eyes. The ramen cart is part of a collective in a nice and lovely neighborhood of Portland. Fitted with chairs, tables, umbrellas, and tarps. This allowed me to enjoy my ramen without any liquid to hit my body besides the delicious golden broth that I was pouring into my mouth by the spoon-loads. I can’t remember much about the menu or what I had. But I knew that it was Tonkotsu and it was by far one of the better ramen I had. Here or back in the bay area. The broth had a perfect consistency in flavor, saltiness, temperature, and depth. The noodles were chewy and full of flavor. The garnishes were spot on. Although I can care less about the soft boiled eggs, slices of pork, mushrooms, etc. But hey, who can refuse all of those things. My friend got the dipping ramen, which I regretted not getting. The broth looked intense(in a good way) and there were pieces of floating pork belly. Now if only spas had that kind of treatment, I would be less reluctant to go. Imagine bathing in a hot tub of broth surrounded by floating pieces of perfectly cooked pork belly. Only drawback, I might start eating my arm once there are no more pork belly left. Well, «drawback.» Take this from a Cali boy, I liked it.

I loveeeeee the 5 dollar chicken karage bowl. It’s one of my fave dishes. The ramen is pretty delicious as well. I’d rather go here than any of the other hip over priced ramen shops that are over ran with hipsters. The price is right here and it’s quick and delicious. Even on cold days… I just grab a few layers and head to the food cart because it’s so yummy. The only other place I’d grab a bowl of ramen in the PDX area is Yuzu in Beaverton.

After a long drive and coming from warm weather to cold weather… A hot bowl of ramen was just what I needed! I don’t know if I was just starving at the time but I thought it was decent ramen. The noodles were the perfect consistency to my liking. Not too chewy and not too soft. Love that you can just sit in the middle of the pod to wait and eat(communal eating for all the food carts). Quick. Efficient. Friendly. I’ll eat here again for sure!

I am in now way a ramen expert but I thought the tonkotsu ramen was delicious. My friend who visited Tokyo last year seemed to really enjoy the ramen! Broth was flavorful, noodles cooked to perfection and good amount of meat and veggies. The only thing is they ran out of the fried chicken at 12:30 I guess I «just have to» come back for more ramen and try the famous fried chicken side dish!

Being part Asian and from Hawai’i, I crave ramen ALLTHETIME. We decided to swing by the TidBit food cart pod for lunch. I instantly spotted Hapa PDX and knew that’s where I was heading. I ordered the shoyu ramen and added karaage. When I was called up to get my order, the woman in the cart said she had accidentally added my karaage to someone else’s order, so if I wanted to take my ramen with the two pieces of karaage while it was hot, she would bring me more karaage as soon as it was ready. Within three or four minutes, she came over with a small bowl filled with deliciously crispy, hot, fried chicken. The broth was flavorful, the noodles were perfectly prepared. This was a great reminder of home and delicious lunch I would happily eat again and again!

Hapa PDX made me happy … very happy. Hapa was just what this gaikokujin needed on a damp dark night in the City of Roses. I was craving ramen like fat Chris Christie craves cheesesteaks… except I was fat in Portland where finding good ramen(or cheesesteaks) is about as easy as finding a local fan of Chris Christie. Shoyu(Soy) Ramen($ 9) is classic ramen #1 at Hapa PDX with Chashu(pork), Egg, Fishcake, Spinach, and Nori(Seaweed). The energetic guy in the food truck was confident that this was THE ramen for me to order. He was right. The portions are small, but the flavors and curly noodles were just what I was craving. Whew, no need for a cheesesteak.(4 stars) My wife opted for the modern(maybe) Tonkotsu Ramen($ 9) with a light Pork Bone broth, Chashu Pork, Egg, Bamboo, and Negi plus the same ramen noodles. The thin broth was light on flavors while the grilled Chashu didn’t match her expectations. It was a-ok for me.(3 stars) When you’re feeling fogged in or like a portly politician in need of ramen in Portland, remember Hapa PDX = Happy PDX.
