I’ve had Virgin Mobile service for ten years in two states. I have never had a texting problem, even where phone reception was not available(rural so. Oregon). The calling service is fine, but I am not a heavy user. I feel the only prior comment here reflects on something other then the actual service.

DONOTCHOOSEVIRGINMOBILE. The price may be affordable but the phone will soon start to freeze and not allow you to text half the time but you can try to use voice recognition but it won’t get what you are saying most of the time. The top up minute cards are also a gamble. I just bought a 40 dollar card for this month and it won’t work. Now if you don’t know how top up cards work i’ll fill you in. They are cards that have a pin number, the pin number is not activated until the card has been purchased. The actual action of purchasing the card is what activates it. They don’t enter in a code or do anything so when it doesn’t work they can’t do anything and you can’t refund them. If you want though they are nice enough to let you file a report which means you get to fax a ton of information in to virgin mobile and they can take it into consideration. 40 dollars down the drain and my phone shuts off tonight. Their only advice? Go try and buy another one. So my advice to you would be to go with somebody else. Virgin Mobile is not the way.
