G Best Hair & Color

Be careful if using a groupon. They are independent contractors and even though they use the salon name in the groupon title, they won’t honor the coupon if it’s someone else’s.
It’s extremely hard to get ahold of the salon, so I was forced to book online. I wasn’t told the groupon wasn’t going to work until my hair was already being cut.
The salon was nice and they are talented, just be careful.

Lily at G Best is literally theee best! Not only does she work magic with my hair; but she is a complete doll! Fun to chat with and does an amazing job with my hair. I have really, long thick hair and every single apt I leave with the most gorgeous highlights and cut. I highly recommend Lily. Xo

I go to a different salon on a regular, but my stylist was really booked so I browsed living social and found G Best Hair and Color on there. I called and made an appointment on Friday, and the stylist that answered the phone, Eddie, was able to get me in the next day Saturday at 5. I know right? Prime time! Loved that part. When we talked on the phone I mentioned that I like my blonde highlights to be ashy/​cool and not bronze. I mean, any natural brunette that plays blonde for a bit will know the horrors of the bronze blonde if colored wrong. Shudder. He talked like he knew what was up and I was excited. Come my appointment, Eddie sounded very knowledgeable and explained ways to make my natural roots lighter to help blend into the highlights and la de da. He was quick to get my foils in and very easy to talk to. Super charming. When he pulled my foils out, I could already see the bronze blonde. My heart sank. He started to blow dry my hair with a round brush half hardheartedly, and then switched to a regular brush. I do have a lot of hair, which I told him from the start. Then he took a straightener to my hair and literally straightened two in a half strands. I left with my hair still wet in places. I don’t know if it was because I was using a living social coupon, which called for a full haircut/​color/​style btw and I only wanted color. Maybe he felt that I did’t deserve the full work up? I was disappointed. The best part after a hair appointment is the bouncy fresh blow out. Sigh, needless to say-​his personality deserves a 5 star, but hair skills? not so much. The salon itself is adorable and tastefully decorated. The color ended up with «zebra-​like» streaks, blond and yellow bronze blonde in areas once I got home and fully dried it. Will have to get it fixed with my usual lady.

Brittany did a great job on my hair… totally happy. She was warm, personable and listened to what I wanted. They were all friendly especially the owner. I laughed a lot, and enjoyed the whole experience!

Just moved to Portland from California & my greatest fear was finding a new colorist. I spent time researching & was thrilled to get an appt. with Greg Best at his gorgeous salon. He reviewed my color & explained what he would do differently to brighten & blend it as I’m naturally brown with red/​gold tones but went very blond years ago. My blond is now incredible with many dimensions & is blended so beautifully. This is the best color I’ve ever had. Greg is beyond talented and incredibly nice! Would give more than 5 stars if I could!

I got an ombré done with Brittany at this salon yesterday. She is wonderful, she listened to what I wanted and did a consultation with me prior to coloring my hair. It turned out exactly how I wanted it and she gave me a great trim as well. She was super fun to talk to and I enjoyed the laid back vibe of G salon. Definitely recommend visiting this salon on the Eastside.

Though my hairstylist Brittany was funny and easy to talk to I have to give it two stars as I was there for 3 hours and she missed the ends of my hair while doing a simple one color dye. I paid a total of 72 dollars to have my hair dyed black which seems more than reasonable, especially since she didn’t even style my hair when I was finished. I was disappointed in the service, I don’t know if she had been having a rough day or what but when I walked into the sunlight and noticed my ends were still brown I just sighed and realized it wouldn’t be worth the money to go back as she shows a carelessness to her non-​regular clients. I did like the trim I got okay, it was a little safe but it got the job done, overall two stars because my experience and results were unsatisfactory.
I think what got me the most was her her putting down her boss to me repeatedly. Ok, very few people actually LIKE their boss but it seemed really unprofessional to me to talk about it to a client. I definitely won’t be going back. I really hope she was just having an off day because she seemed nice, but you should be good at what you do in order to keep your job.
Maybe the other stylists are professional and talented but Brittany’s work fell short of a modern pin up hairstyle.

I got a half off deal with Greg best and I told him I wanted my hair brightened up because I’m used to being bleach blonde hair but the last year it’s been dull. He did tons of foils in less then 2 hours! He seemed to really know what he was doing while keeping my hair from frying. I really like how it looks now! Hes expensive but u get what u pay for, but my touch up will be with veronica she seems very nice but didn’t rinse all the shampoo or conditioner out of my hair. I still love the way my hair came out. This place has great lighting inside too which I look for in a salon especially sine I’m looking for a specific blonde color I need natural light.

I only go to see Lili for my color and cuts. She’s brilliant, sassy, and does awesome work. I love this place.

I made it 29 years without ever dying my hair, mostly because I felt it would be a travesty to dye the red hair that’s been getting me compliments my whole life, along with the question, «Is it natural?» But I was wanting a little oomph and got just what I was looking for from Lily. She got the color I described just right and even helped me with some touch ups a couple days later to give me *exactly* what I envisioned. Thanks, Lily!

Awful place. The color for some reason didnt work on my hair (probably because Lilian isnt experienced) and she still charged me. Mind you, this was my second time I came back to have it fixed. When I asked her to blow dry my hair she did just half of it and left the rest curly. When I demanded a refund Greg Best told me I still had to pay her for her time… When my hair looked the same from when I entered the salon the first time. Awful customer service and made me pay for their lack of experience. Dont waste your money.

Greg was absolute perfect person to see for my hair needs!
He was so attentive to exactly what I wanted, yet when I asked for his professional recommendations; he knew his stuff! Very knowledgeable in chemicals, colors, skin tone, and I LOVED that he is SO on top of the latest trends and fashion. Loved that he could help me learn how to take care of my own hair, and ways to style it to prevent as much damage, and make it look gorgeous.
I’ve also never seen ANYONE in town do an all over color weave using 3 foils per section, as fast as he did! It was quite amazing. My blonde is one that now matches my skin tone, and blends beautifully with highlights of different shades to give so much depth! I love it. Definitely recommend G Best for anyone who wants their hair done perfect and right!

If you like a hairdresser who is uninterested in what YOU want to do with your hair, contradicts your opinions, tells you that if you want your hair blown dry and styled you will have to do it yourself, and then charges you $ 139 for the insults, go to Greg Best.

There isn’t anyone better at highlights and coloring than Greg Best. He’s been doing my hair since HS and when I went off to the east coast I missed him dearly. After three years of going elsewhere, I decided it was better to wait awhile longer in between and just fly back to Portland to get my hair done.
My mom and sister actually found him when we had a not so minor hair mishap the day before prom. He got us in and is known for ‘fixing’ color disasters.
He’s also incredibly quick. My hair is really long, and I’m out of there in about an hour (you can stay to style if you want). At most other salons it would take a minimum of 2 hours to do my hair, with some up to 4 hours.
