Fubonn Shopping Center

Asian Food Paradise! A galore of toys, souvenirs, and stuff that you can only buy in China! The parking lot is a little hard to navigate across, but that’s why it is so dang popular. Coming here is very reminding of many shopping districts that they have in my hometown. There are cool little stores selling clothing, cosmetics, and accessories. There are a few bakeries, massage parlors, and a boba shop. What’s there not to love?

First off a warning, the parking here can really suck, it wraps the building but it is just an odd layout. Since the market/​mall is quite popular, there are usually lots of cars moving about…
That said there are lots of reasons to come. There is obviously the big super market the mall is named for (see separate reviews…) restraints, a foot massage place, a great asian bakery, and lots of odd little shops. It is also the only place I know of that still has those odd coin operated kids rides I used to love… they have quite a few of them.
The halls at times seem lined with odd statues. look around, grab a bubble tea or go to the bakery. There is a small arcade by the bathrooms. The mall is a unique experience.
Tip, get the little egg tarts! or the pineapple pound cake! You deserve it after the parking lot.
Tip 2– no visit is complete without going inside Fubonn itself… then why wouldn’t you?

While I’m very lukewarm about Fubonn Supermarket (see my review on that page for details, but the short version is that I think its prices are unreasonably high), the shopping center overall is pretty cool now that there are some real gems, including:
(1) Bubble Bubble: No Asian shopping center should ever lack a bubble tea place, and Bubble Bubble’s installation in the Fubonn Shopping Center really helped complete it.
(2) A bakery: I can’t remember its name, but there’s a little standalone bakery in here that supplies many of the baked goods that are sold in Fubonn. Why, though, would you buy in Fubonn when you can buy from the bakery itself and choose from a wider range of selections? I’ve tasted a good number of products from here, and enjoyed them all. I especially recommend the green tea bread.
(3) A Korean beauty store: As I recall, this is a pretty recent addition. It’s a beauty store that mostly sells Korean beauty products. I did a little browsing in here a while back, and thought the selection was a little limited, but that may have changed since I was in, and I like the concept in any case.

Cute and unexpected. A nice neighborhood Asian market with the addition of a few complimenting stores and services. However, the shopping center seemed to have several empty stores. This made the overall experience limited. I look forward to seeing what will be going into the spaces in the future.

This place is bizarre and amazing. I have no idea what’s going on and I love it. They sell meat with heads and have not one, but two Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift arcade racing games!

Asian foods galore! This store has everything you could want with a wide selection of foods. The price is moderate and not too bad. The workers though are not that friendly and it is hard to fins a thing unless you know the layout of the store.
It is also hard to find anybody to help you locate an item. The workers are not that knowledgable about the products. The return policy is. It there frat neither.
They have a good selection of meat, season and dried goods. Just about anything you could want from an Asian store. The parking lot isn’t too bad neither.
Overall the selection of Asian type goods from rice to MSG is great. But customer service is very much lacking.

M family lives in Redmond and they drive all the way to Portland to go to this center to stock up on all the Asian food and necessities they can possibly get. This place is pretty huge and it mostly has everything! From foreign fruits, veggies, and even delicacies. I even saw my favorite candies and chips haha. Eh young Asian employees seem to have staring problem and it looked like they did not like their job. This is considered one of the largest Asian shopping center in Asian District, Portland.

its an asian wonderland. sauces and spices ive never heard of, but for a price where i can afford to take a chance on trying something new. produce, seafood, kitchen gadgets, housewares. i came to this place on a grocery adventure (my companion and i are cooking dorks and like to explore ethnic markets) and we ended up wandering around for over an hour. ill definitely use this place to source my hard to find asian ingredients.

Still the preferred place for my Asian groceries. Better selection than Uwajimaya, Hong Phat, and smaller Mom & Pop places. Hot Bar selection and quality is far from like places in California. Lilly’s Market in NE has one of the best. I wish they’d carry less non-​food items and replace with even more selection.
Service is typical stoic borderline crappy found in this part of town.

I love this place. I feel at home here and love playing eye spy with my fellow Filipinos. Aside from that, the prices are ridonkulous. Yeah… ridonkulous.
I walk out with 50lbs of rice, gallons of fish sauce from all corners of Asia, and some great fish and produce for under $ 40. Nice.
Go here and just sit in awe for a bit, book some travel to Vietnam (quite lovely) and indoctrinate yourself into some Asian deliciosity.
p. s. parking is a literal zoo in their admittedly large lot. Pro tip: head to the back lot (head to the right, curve around). It’s quiet and spacious.

It is like the Wal Mart of Asian stores. You can find everything you need here whether it is Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. I always come here to find what I need for a random Asian dish. The prices are also pretty good as well. Parking lot is a pain in the ass, but I’ll survive.

The best day to come is during the week. I would suggest when I’m going to get a card could you always end up leaving with more than you showed up for. I would also suggest that going to the Bubba bubble tea Store down the hall from football and getting a strawberry bubble tea easier to delicious.
There is also many great stores when you first walk into the front of fubon I would recommend shopping there because they are full of great stuff and great people.
There is a great small bakery outside too it’s very delicious I always get cakes and cookies it’s the best place to get them to cause her soft and moist all this time and fresh-​baked.
So if you ever need to pick up some groceries and you’re down Portland remember to stop here.

Fubonn Shopping Center brings a confident Vancouver, British Columbia suburban attitude to Portland.
It is a strip mall that rightfully and unapologetically serves a local community in ways that might be alien to general Western traditions.
It is accessible by the 72 TriMet Line, by foot and by car into the center’s large parking lot.
The large entrance is artistic although in only a novel way, very dignified. Outside of the main mall, on the left side is a Starbucks and O’Sushi. The mall’s core is a large hub of connected stores, but outside of it and in the same building is a series of other ethnic Asian stores.
Inside, is a large mix of small shops. They sell jewelry, clothing, food and more. The Fubonn supermarket has a wide variety. There are lots of arcade options.
The mall doesn’t feel developed, but it does not feel empty like Mall 205. There are all kinds of pathways, which makes the variety seem fun.
Fubonn Shopping Center is great at finding the Asian spirit within us all.

Good place to shop for Asian goodies. Plenty of meat, poultry, and seafood. One thing I complain was some aisle are very smelly. Prices are decent, and if you know what you are getting or need you’ll be fine around the store.

I’ve written a review of what I thought about the fubonn supermarket, but this is a review for the fubonn super center itself. The stores in this shopping center have come and gone. Besides browsing Pretty and Cute and actually buying groceries at the fubonn market, there is really no reason to visit the shopping center. The boba tea place here is alright, although their durian boba tea can be improved. The Korean restaurant is pretty good too. Hopefully they will open more stores in the future, but as of now… there are many empty spots waiting to be rented out by shops.

The parking lot is my nightmare lived out on a Saturday, so I don’t drive and keep my eyes closed until we are parked. I can always find that ingredient for a dish no one else has. They have a huge noodle section, and the faux meat section is outstanding. I don’t trust a lot of items here just because I don’t eat meat, and sometimes it’s just hard to tell what’s inside that package.
If they had a better produce department I would up the star count but it is pretty sad. The quantities of some items are crazy and other stores you can buy just one or two instead of 2 pounds that are pre-​packed.

I love the Fubonn. So many options here for things to do and try.
Last time I was here, I tried a bakery that had a card minimum. I just took some extra cookies to go. They were delicious, with M&Ms. My favorite place to go is Pretty and Cute, which is technically outside the Fubonn but still awesome for asian beauty items. Oh and the Phở place outside is great. Not the best ever but still pretty decent. I prefer Phở Hung and phở oregon if I’m on 82 but it’s a good option if you’re already at the Fubonn.

Fubonn! So great! Good prices on produce, too.
But if you’re looking for Japanese food items, it’s waaaaay better to go to Beaverton for Uwajimaya.

It has been few years since I came to Fubonn as I live in Beaverton and commute can be bit rough on public transportation. But I recently found recipe for yukatan fish that required annatto spice and banana leaves. I visited few Mexican and Indian shops but could not find the vital ingredients. Then I read on Unilocal Fubonn would carry it, so I made the trip.
Place was large as I remembered last time I visited, and crammed full of ethnic diverse food items. Uwajimaya is close to where I live, but it is more expensive than Fubonn’s lower competitive prices. I was able to find the ingredients without much delay, and picked up few extra goodies like dorian ice cream and thick yakisoba noodle.
I also enjoyed picking up baked goods at Meianna Bakery which is less sweet than average baked goods in American bakeries, and if it is not so far I’d visit more often. The tea shop I saw last time was not inside, so perhaps it closed down.

Well, let me tell you the bad thing first. It’s located near 82^nd and Powell in the Southeast. It’s very busy, especially during weekend. If you don’t want to fight the traffic, you’d better come here early in the morning.
But I’ve been to other Asian groceries store around Portland. And this one seems to have more varieties than other places (including Uwajimaya). I also like the fact they have quite a few of Indonesian food for sale. Although, I often find that the shelves are half empty. Must be alot of Indonesian go and shop here.
They also have a great sake and wine selection. Something that you should checkout when you come here next time.
