Wonderful experience. The only reason I didn’t give Barbara 5 stars was because not even halfway through the facial, I completely fell asleep… not a light doze — I was out. I’ll have to try and stay awake longer next time so I can fully appreciate the services offered. Finding Barbara might be a challenge for some. There’s no immediate parking and her salon is in the upper floors of Chai Yo(going to have to eat there one of these days). Once you do find her though, the environment is warm, welcoming, very relaxing, and I appreciate that Barbara hails from Boston originally. She understands the necessity to relax and pamper yourself in a busy, frantic world, and she has something of an urban edge that I truly miss sometimes living in Portland. For the facial itself, Barbara uses a locally created product line, River Organics. Beautiful scents and sensations. I’m looking forward to going back and learning more about them. They can be purchased on site or online, but there’s no hard sell or pitch delivered. If you’re interested, you can. Simple as that. I’m very happy I found Barbara and plan to return as soon as I can. Definitely one of the best facials I’ve had.

Wow, that was literally THEWORST facial I have ever had. Not only was it the worst facial, it was just terrible all around. I hate to be one of those«first world problem» kind of people, but«Barbara» has clearly never had any training on how to perform a professional facial. Besides being in a non-circulated hot attic above a restaurant where things were being clunked around down below, the flower twin sheets from 1995 and dim lighting ruined the experience even before we started. You cannot perform a facial with dim TRACKLIGHTING. She spent the first twenty minutes rubbing my face down with some kind of OIL — with no gloves! Clearly, I have acne, so why would you touch my skin in the first place without gloves(let alone anyone else’s skin), let alone on obviously sensitive skin. After the 20 minute«rub down» — aka basically putting her fingers on my face, and not even massaging — she just continued to layer on crap after crap then rubbing it off with an exfoliator THREETIMES — on acneic skin! If anything my skin is going to be even WORSE after Barbara’s «facial.» There is no way on this earth that she has any training, or if so, it was from a DIY Pinterest post.
