Extended Stay America – Portland – Gresham

We booked for a king bed room but got one with two tiny queen beds. Room was specious and moderately clean. It has a large freezer, a oven and full cooking facility. The small dining table was cute. We got a bad surprise when we could not find a waste bin in the room or bathroom! But breakfast was even more surprising as there was almost nothing– only coffee and muffin! Worst possible breakfast. They better state that breakfast is not included!

Do not stay here. While I was here there were multiple car breakins and one of the workers had their backpack stolen from INSIDE the hotel employee break room. Also, a guy had his truck towed away for being parked in the handicapped parking. He said he asked the manager if it was ok and she had said yes because there are so many car breakins. Also, there was one hanger in the room when I checked in. I asked at the front desk for more hangers and she said «yeah, people keep stealing them and we haven’t gotten anymore.» And this was NOT one of those fancy wooden hangers. These were those plastic dollar store hangers. There are lots of other hotels in the immediate area. I recommend you skip this one.

Stayed here for a month, and would gladly do so again. I know of no better value for the budget traveler in Portland metro, so I give it 5 stars.
Plus-​side: Great value. Comparatively low rates. 12 min. to downtown. Updated rooms. Comfy bed. Good water pressure. Flat-​panels. Ample parking. Well-​landscaped grounds. Good laundry. Internet was excellent. Well-​managed McDonalds close by, and other retail. Right off I-​84 interchange. Pretty well-​managed hotel, overall. Staff is good. Security patrols parking lot, lot is well lit — I had stuff in back of truck and never got ripped off. Place is clean. Someone at desk ²⁴⁄₇. AC worked fine. Non-​smoking. Far superior to the hotel next door, or your basic, call it, Motel 5.
Down-​side: Sometimes a wait at front desk. Neighborhood is not Portland’s finest, though it seems safe. Freeway noise if your room is on that side. Smokers hanging around outside (basically providing free security).
Bonus: A tiny Thai restaurant on Stark Ave. called Chai Thai is *awesome* and not far.

It was acceptable for what I was paying. Moderate level of cleanliness. Good internet. Good amenities. Good location. It was … B-?

Gotta agree with a previous reviewer about the cleanliness. I am by NO means a neat freak; on the contrary, my husband might even say that I am «a slob», or «lacking manners», or «jesus honey use a plate, were you raised by wolves???»
You know how girls do that thing when they shower where they stick their hair all over the walls? Like somehow making your bathroom a disgusting Cousin It cesspool is better than letting it go down the drain? Our shower was, unfortunately, COVERED in long, black hairs. Like, this tub didn’t even get a perfunctory wipe-​down before we jumped on in. Unfortunately, because of the speckled pattern of the shower, I didn’t notice this until day 2. Yeesh. Aside from that, there was a large mound of mystery goo (how often do you get to use that sentence?) behind the tub, and the general dust, bits of leaves, etc around the room.
Besides the cleanliness was the absence of hot water :(It wasn’t TOTALLY absent, I wasn’t in-​the-​corner-​of-​the-​tub-​crying-​and-​begging-​to-​be-​freed-​from-​my-​icy-​prison cold, it was just lukewarm enough to tolerate getting clean. I don’t ask for a lot from my affordable hotels, but a hot shower to relax in, and standard bed with clean sheets to curl up in, are pretty basic.
If the room was actually clean, it would have been quite nice for the price. Comfy bed, nice updated look, little kitchen area for your convenience. Though, not really sure why a hotel that caters to business travelers and has amenities like, AN ENTIRE KITCHEN, would be lacking basics like, a hair dryer, or an iron…
The staff was fine, no major issues. We got our room through Priceline and Rapy at the front desk let us know that Priceline automatically books you for a smoking room, and offered to change it if we wanted, which we did. I appreciate that! So with the Priceline deal it was cheap, but for the standard fare, I would not stay here again.

This place was just ok. Its right off the freeway. The staff was pretty nice and friendly but the brekfast is just muffins and coffee. However there are quite a few fast food places nearby.
This place was just renovated a few months ago and is pretty nice. They have nice big TVs and the rooms were clean. Some of the rooms even have kitchens with a microwave, stove, and large refrigerators. The only thing I did not like about this place was the neighborhood. I read the other Unilocal reviews and how they got there cars broken in but I decided to stay here. It was fine. Just come back before dark and park near the entrance. I would not recommend parking in the back.
I do not think I would want to stay here again because of the neighborhood. However I enjoyed the cleanliness of the rooms.

I had made reservations through priceline to stay at this hotel. I found out the week before I was set to travel that a family member died and I was no longer driving from Los Angeles to portland for vacation. My reservations clearly specified that they were non refundable. I called Priceline and explained my situation they were happy to oblige but it was up to the hotel. I called the hotel and spoke to the manager and they were happy to help as well. For as many poor reviews that this hotel has, I felt it was necessary to give them kudos for being so great about my situation.

I would not recommend this place, it is very near a crime ridden neighborhood. Some of the other guests were extremely noisy at all hours and conducting questionable behavior. My car was broken into after which hotel staff told me that it happens frequently, 2 to 3 times per week.

First time staying there, me and my bf stayed for about three nights. Pretty comfortable and decent. But There was left over junk from the people who stayed in that room previous to us. Like under the beds there was debry and trash. On the lap there was a hair band with blonde hair strands on it. Me and my bf are both a minority couple. And also there was calcium build ups around the sink and tub smh. Oh and not to mention the amount of dust on the tables and laps!

I stayed here with a group. The check in process was smooth, the customer service was outstanding, and the rooms were great! We had a great expierence and would stay here again.

We stayed here for months, there was never anything said about being a high crime area until our last night there our truck was broke into. When I reported it to the front desk we was told that there was 5 previous break ins that month. The manger was so cold about the situation, she just bluntly said that they won’t do anything and I have to call the police and deal with my insurance. Why does this place have insurance and when some one gets broke into we can’t go through their insurance? Why do I have to report it to my insurance when it was not my fault? How do you not worn people that this is a high prowl area? Even cheap cheesy motels have signs up warning people that the area is a high prowl area. Do they think they will loose business? I think people would be appreciative. They state they have security, the security is just a employee walking around the building for a minute to smoke if they even do that. There is NO security at all. Don’t let them fool you. I don’t recommend staying here if you are driving. They employees, ones a dope head, ones lazy and the other one is great. The manager would repremend the dope head one in front of customers, very unprofessional of the manager. When the break in happened I just got out of the hospital from being in the hospital for a month. I couldn’t walk without a walker or maintain myself then having to deal with all this. My husband is a disabled vet with mental issues so this pushed him over the edge of remaining to stay here until our LTL was up. We lost 2 weeks of paid rent as the manager would not refund none of our money. So not only did we loose our 2 weeks rent, we had to pay for a window and replace electronics. They stole my husbands wallet as we was only parked there for 20 minutes so my husband can get me in the room and in bed so he could go to the pharmacy. So ontop of it all I had to spend a agonizing 3 hours in traffic to make the drive to families house as we was not able get a hotel room as they stole our ids, credit cards and money. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed here for business. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Like any Extended Stay America, the «extras» are limited or sometimes, just not there. The parking lot is a headache and always full. I would still recommend it to a friend.
