Erica is the best hair dresser. I have been going to her for at least 15 years. I will follow her no matter where she sets up shop. She puts three colors in my hair. I get so many compliments due to her work. If you are looking for an expert, give her a try.

Europa is the best place I’ve gotten my hair colored. I like to be an icy blonde and my hairdresser, Erica, knows how to get it to that level while keeping it healthy. The atmosphere has a hip 2000 vibe while still looking expensive. Parking is a little difficult, but there are lots are parking garages in the vicinity. I started going to this place when I was 16 with my mother(I had a different hairdresser back then.) Now that I’ve graduated college, it’s my go to salon at 24.

I’ve had stylists who are afraid of my hair. «Is this okay?» they ask timidly, looking for my approval and some direction. But I don’t understand my hair anymore than they do — I don’t know what it’s thinking or why it acts the way it does. But then, I don’t cut my own hair, so I don’t need to. The stylist is supposed to be the fearless one, ready to tackle new hair types and solve all the problems. Cue Angeline Jones. Angeline lets me know every time I see her just how much she loves my hair. Not only is this a great self-image thing(indeed, I love my hair now more than ever), but it also helps me trust her. My hair can be a challenge, but if she’s confident then so am I. And at the end of every appointment, my cut is perfect. I’ve been going to Angeline for a few years now and I wouldn’t go to anyone else. Europa itself is spacious and bright, located in a good spot downtown. I’d agree with the Unilocaler below, though, that they could really use a secretary. Scheduling can be pretty difficult without knowing the stylist’s cell.

If this page were just for Angeline Jones, my stylist at Europa, it would be 5 stars. She’s a fantastic, friendly hair stylist who specializes in color and is a genius with Goldwell. I won’t go to anyone else in Portland. Europa’s got a good location, and the stylists generally seem to have a good relationship(one trimmed my bangs for free in an emergency when Angeline couldn’t make it). However, they could improve by having part of the dues they presumably pay the business owner(each chair is semi-independent) go toward a receptionist. You definitely have to have an individual hair stylist’s cell # to reliably get through, and there’s no one to great clients, which can make things a bit awkward.
