Elite Event: L’Yelp Life Magnifique

Fabulous! A wonderful event! The cocktails were delish and fresh!
The staff were patient and pleasant… and I’m pretty sure none were injured despite the stampeding Unilocalers. I admit… I may have stalked a waiter or two. I like me a foie mousse or two, lamb belly, octopus, beignet *shrug* … a girl’s gotta do…
We’ll definitely be back to enjoy more of the new chef’s cuisine. My interest has been piqued and my appetite whetted.

Ugh, this event was so frickin’ classy it makes me SICK!
Bluehour went above and beyond with very generous portions of very fancy food. I hope we didn’t scare off the new chef! He weaved through our loud crowd a few times and was nearly mauled more than once. Well, not him, exactly… but the plates he was carrying.
I never got my hands on the tortellini, which is what I’d really wanted, so that’s on the list to try when I go back for sure. The pizza was fantastic. Everything was gorgeous. The drinks: OMG. Aquavit=my kryptonite. Oh, what’s that… it’s noon on a Saturday? Meh, should be fine, then!*
Thanks a mint to Bluehour, Didier, Le Pere-​Don, Matt D, and everyone who helped make that a truly awesome party. I’m really, really, really, sorry about the trail of Smurf-​blue feathers that I apparently left all over the Pearl District.
Bar staff: RULED. Those guys were so nice, very skilled, and really took care of us. Wonderful to see everyone as always!

I think everyone else has done all the same gushing I would, so I’ll keep this brief: This was a fantastic time, with fantastic food & drink, in a fantastic space. The new chef is knocking it out of the park, and the staff are great (including the GM, Didier, with his completely adorable accent.)
I definitely need to experience Bluehour at dinnertime or after-​dark, as this place exudes romance… they even have big, swanky, individually-​lockable bathrooms, in case the romance overwhelms you and your date. ;)
It was also great to see so many new faces among the Elite crowd, and make a few new friends from it.

What an AWESOME event! Big, big props to Don for helping put this on, it was truly a great experience to try out Bluehour’s new menu!
Two hours of free food tasting and drinks… at Bluehour… how can you not enjoy?! I managed to taste test everything but the leg of lamb I believe. It all tasted excellent. My fave… certainly the sweet corn tortellini. Those things and the sauce covering it was like poppin’ candy. Seriously. They were amazing. The octopus was perfection, and the two different pizzas were excellent as well. And I’m not kidding when I do say this was my first time tasting any sort of foie gras… when the toasted bread w/​foie gras came around I didn’t hesitate but to try some. OMG! It was so great! Like butta baby. The sashimi, brushetta with fava, lamb belly, beignets, I mean the list goes on and I did not try a single thing I didn’t like.
The drinks were also well done. All interesting flavors and mixes — the bartenders did a great job. And the service — phenominal. Big thanks to the servers at Bluehour for taking us all in and bringing out tons of food for us hungry patrons. The wine as well… WOW. Seriously need to get my hands on some of it.
The crowd was great. Nice to see so many Unilocalers out and about. This was definitely the highlight of my weekend. And will certainly be back when the new Bluehour menu is in full force!

Bluehour is one of those places that I probably wouldn’t go to unless I won the lottery. However, I love it when I’m able to go to a place like that for an Elite Event. Oh, man, I could’ve eaten 10 of the beignets. I wouldn’t have had room for the pizza, corn tortellini, steak, lamb…
We had tasty cocktails and IPA to wash this all down with, of course. Just glad there was plenty of food because of that.

Don B: You nailed it again in putting together an event that all other events should be jealous of.
To all the Bluehour employees: you were amazing! Quick, friendly, and the professional platinum standard when it comes to running the show.
The food was fantastic! It’s always a good sign to see the Unilocal Elite attack a table like a lion pride on a wounded water buffalo whenever a new plate arrived.

Uh, magnifique indeed!
Let’s start with the space — faboosh (I’m trying to make this word more popular). It screams swanky so I was glad to be wearing my disco ball skirt.
Drinks? I tried the one with aquavit (I think that’s what it was) but was not a fan because I have no culture or taste :) Or more importantly, I like the sweeter liquors and beer. Speaking of BEER, we got to be some of the first peeps to try to new Widmer Rotator IPA Falconer’s IPA and needless to say I was EXCITED.
Food? I am… in love. The pizza was great, the grilled lamb chops were tender (and I usually do not like lamb so color me extra impressed), the octopus was excellent & the lil’ pieces of prime rib were like WHOA. Tack on the warm beignets and it was pretty much epic.
The staff pulled out all the stops — non-​stop food coming out & clearing plates & drinks like ninjas. There was, at no time, a wait to get myself a beverage.
And of course, lovely to always see my fellow Yeeps all swanked out too. Fab job once again by Don & Matt!!!

I must return to the l’heure bleue, which refers to the period of twilight each morning and evening where there is neither full daylight nor complete darkness –my favorite time of day and night.
The Octopus! The Beignets! The Cocktails! The Service was impeccable I felt like a spoiled brat. Of course as always, for me, it boils down to the people and the social aspect of Unilocal is unbeatable the World around. I heart Unilocal for bringing together a great swath of people to share in true decadence.

Unilocal has done it again! What a delight!
I’ve been wanting to go back to Bluehour even since I came here some years back with a group of folks for happy hour. I was with my former boss and friends and he proceeded to throw bread from the bread basket at me from across the room (too much wine – well you be the judge). However, I digress…
It was a beautiful open room. Very smart of the planners to pull out most of the tables that are normally in there for ease of movement throughout the area.
Mike K., and I put on our Sunday best ‘cuz we thought we would class it up a bit. It was kind of fun to play dress up! The food was tasty. We tried the small slices of bread with cream cheese, tomato and lima beans. Oh so good. Octopus, who would have thought that would be so tasty. Slices of pizza very good. I didn’t taste anything that I didn’t like.
Then onto the drinks they had two signature drinks as well as local (Mcminnville) wine and a brand new Widmer beer. I tried some of each and really enjoyed them. I cannot wait until I can go to the vineyard and try some of the wine at a tasting.
There was a table of Unilocal swag always appreciated and Don and Matt on hand to give me a fist bump with my check in.
The staff was friendly and always at the ready with another drink or food item. Oh did I mention the beignets? Oh so tasty and melt in your mouth delicious.
I met a couple of new and old Unilocalers there and it was a delightful time.
Oh and while my man went up to retrieve a Widmer a gentlemen that was not with the Elite event wandered in and up to our table. He tried to engage me in conversation just as my guy returned and said Professor Smith (not his real name) nice to see you. Only to figure out what this guy had on his mind.
Heehee…that will teach you to crash a Unilocal event… someone will recognize you.

Pretty people. Pretty food. Pretty place. These are a few of my favorite things.
At Blue Hour the pretty is more than skin deep, that pretty food is simply out of this world fantastic. The pâté with the mustard seed was melt in my mouth delicious; my favorites were the leg of lamb — I can’t believe how tender and flavorful it was, but the winner in my mind was the octopus. I could eat endless plates of the octopus.
The bar at Blue Hour did a terrific job of keeping a cocktail in my hand at all times and the servers on the floor were fabulous as well. I noticed that they have a few absinthe cocktails on their regular menu so I will be sure to be back to try those out in the near future.
Monsieur Don has gone and done it again and spoiled us beyond belief.

A fantastic event! I love the Blue Hour space, their octopus and that delicious peachy gin cocktail. Geez, Don why you always trying to get us drunk in the middle of the day? I finally get why Anna B was wearing BLUE. Great seeing and meeting my Unilocal elite peeps.
