Fast friendly service at a great price! They are open to substitutions to meet any dietary restrictions. Definitely by far my favorite place on Alberta.

Stumbled across this place while on vacation in Portland. So glad we did because it was delicious and a fun, friendly environment.

I’m from CA, and having been in Portland for a month I was craving some of CA-type tacos. This was the 2nd place that I visited, and to my surprise most people ordered everything but tacos. I had the asada, carnitas and pastor tacos and was not disappointed. The meat had amazing flavor and seasoning, and the salsa was HOT. I found my new favorite taco spot, and the tacos help remind me of home.

Excellent service and food. Always my first choice. I’m a vegetation and my partner is a carnivore so the menu makes both of us happy. Best soyrizo I’ve ever had.

I’ll fess up to complaining pretty regularly about the Mexican food in Portland. Turns out I don’t know what I’m talking about, because I FINALLY visited El Nutri Taco, and they serve up some mighty fine street tacos at a more than reasonable price. I can promise you all, I’ll be here on the regular. For $ 1.75 a pop, I was able to get a pretty hefty platter of tacos without putting much of a dent in my wallet. Options include chorizo, carnitas, pollo, pastor, and asada. I had some of all, and all were delicious. In true street-taco style, they’re small and served simply with onion and cilantro, salsas on the side. They were all juicy and flavorful, so good that I barely took time to breathe between bites. These are damn good tacos, ya’ll. So, they offer quite a bit more than tacos, but I don’t have a lot of info about the rest of the menu. Even so, I’d feel fully confident sending people to El Nutri Taco for some solid Mexican fare without the typical Portland fuss.

Best mexican vegan I have ever had. Its a nice place and offers so many meat substitutes. Great chooses for beer that are vegan friendly and even if you not vegan the meat options are good too. Definitely recommend this place and will be returning soon!

Really enjoyed lunch here. Food was very fresh and the service was great. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Lots of drink options alcohol as well. My husband and I came while on vacation and for both of us it was about 25 to eat and get a soda. We went around 2pm and got a table just before it got really busy. I would highly recommend to anyone that wants some healthy Mexican food. They did offer vegan plates as well!

Would give a 5, but recently they’ve turned into the soup nazi’s and get all weird and short with you if you try to mod your order in any way. It sucks when good places get all uptight and lose their original awesomeness.

They have vegan food here, including vegan nachos. It taste as good as steak or chicken nachos. Definitely have to come here again.

I’m embarrassed it has taken me five years to write this review. According to Swarm/Foursquare, I have been to El Nutri 124 times. I’m sure it’s been more than that, but that’s about every 14 days since I’ve moved to Portland. That doesn’t include all the times I’ve ordered from Postmates because I was too lazy to leave my house, but I digress… I grew up in Southern CA and lived there 28 years. I know Mexican food. And being vegan doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Mexican food — go eat one of El Nutri’s chipotle soy curls and then we can talk! My absolute favorite item is the Chencho’s Burrito with black beans, avocado and added chipotle soy curls. My second favorite are the vegan nachos with either tofu or soy curls, depending on my mood. Regardless of what I order, I always smother it in their house avocado hot sauce. And vegans don’t miss out on anything here… there is vegan cheese, sour cream, mayo, butter and about a dozen protein options. The menu is clearly laid out to avoid any confusion. They known the word vegan and clearly have a lot of respect for their vegan customers. They make ordering a breeze and I can’t recommend it highly enough!

awesome vegan nachos, lots of gluten free options. Sometimes I like the nopalitos but haven’t been in the mood for their eggs

In the past, nutri taco Burritos were pretty good. Today, I ordered the chencho burrito with carnitas for take out and was left disappointed. The burrito BARELY had any visible carnitas and it was mostly rice and beans. The $ 3 for extra meat was a total rip off. Next time I’m craving a burrito, I’ll choose another place on Alberta or killingsworth. I can confirm a previous review of the young girl being very rude, in a rush and scribbling on a menu for a simple question from behind the counter. There was no line and the restaurant was not too busy.

Unfortunately I walked out due to the rudeness of the young girl at the counter. I was unable to find what I was looking for on the menu so I asked her if they had the item. Instead of answering my question or actually showing me where the item was on the menu, she threw her hands in the air and turned her back to me. It was a simple question. Not sure what her problem was. I specifically came to Alberta to try this place since it had such good reviews. Will not be coming back.

I LOVE this place. It is a casual spot, edging on «divey.» Excellent vegetarian and vegan options, though, right alongside meat options. Even vegan cilantro aioli sauce! A great place to start your food coma, no matter your protein choice.

This is one of my favs. They have an amazing veg, vegan and everything else selection while also having all the classics. Really they’re just an amazing Mexican burrito place that took the time to make great combos for everyone. My personal fav is the chille relleno burrito. I mean, fried cheese stuffed pepper INside a burrito… um yes please! Go, enjoy, leave happy, rinse, repeat.

This place is no joke. I’ve passed by it a million times while being distracted by everything else Alberta has to offer, but with a little help from fellow Unilocalers and a hungry belly, here is where I ended up. The menu is simple but I feel like the options are endless. I love that the chipotle aioli is vegan no matter what, because at any other restaurant us vegans would have to miss out on the gold that is aioli, but not here! Freakin potatoes. They’re good on everything. Either that, or their burritos make everything taste good on it. They could roll anything up in with their ingredients and I would like it. I’ve been back already more times that I’d like to admit, but they’re an awesome group of people who really know how to make a goooood burrito!

Wow! This place is awesome! Great, friendly service and so many options for Mexican food! One can replace their traditional meats with non-meat substitutes. The price is right, too. This place rocks!

It was a beautiful warm day in Portland, I was hungry and wanted a place you could sit outdoors. I was walking down Alberta and found this little gem. Lots of seats inside and lots of picnic tables outside. They have a huge menu. Something for the vegans and something for the meat eaters, they aim to please all. Three words: Simple. Cheap. Tasty!!! I ordered one potato taco, one carne asada taco, and one chicken taco. $ 1.50 for potato taco and $ 1.75 for the meat tacos. Small hand tacos with fresh cilantro, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. They give you a box of homemade sauces. Green ones super tasty, red one is not for the faint hearted. I think I burnt off my taste buds. Flavorful meats and overall delicious tacos. I could have eaten ten more. Also the people who work here are super friendly.

I have visited El Nutri Taco twice in the two times I visited Portland and I will continue to go back whenever I happen to be in the area. During my recent visit I ordered the special for October which happened to be a taco plate, and I love tacos so they pretty much stole my heart with that one. Here’s some other reasons why I think they’re so great: Pros: — Awesome extensive vegan/vegetarian menu with great substitution offerings like vegan sour cream — Good specials(Like the $ 8 taco place for October!) — Indoor and outdoor seating — Friendly service — Fast! — Different types of salsas offered at the table — Authentic and DELICIOUS tasting food — good portion sizes. — Self-service water tap. — Conveniently located where everything else seems to be happening on Alberta St. Cons: — I can’t actually think of any.

El Nutri Taco is definitely an out of the box Mexican joint specializing in a vegan menu, but they also have food for non-vegans. Biggest thing is the price. It is above average than other Mexican places. I don’t understand why places charge more for less. It’s like ordering a cheeseburger with no burger but they charge you more for customizing your meal. I have tasted some really good vegan food but this is below par. The food is alright depending on what you get. You do get a good portion and the burritos have enough filling. Some of the meat tastes dry and bland. Nothing really stands out from this place except that they serve the vegan community. I would rather go to another Mexican place to get a better deal and tastier food. But if you are vegan then this might be the place for you.
