Trevor did an awesome job on my deluxe reverb — it has never sounded this good. Won’t take my gear anywhere else. Cheers!

Very happy with my guitar and amp set up! I had intonation issues with guitar and a very tired amp. Great job and one week turnaround. Guitar tech went the extra mile, cleaning volume and tone pots and tightening loose jack. Amp rocks! I would use this shop again.

Five stars isn’t enough — Trevor is the best amp guy I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with in the 25+ years I’ve been playing guitar in Portland. He’s totally committed to making sure you’re satisfied, knows his stuff, and is passionate about his work. He’s also courteous, professional and a good communicator, which is rare in my experience. Can’t recommend him enough.

I have brought guitars into Ryan far too many times to count and he always does an amazing job. A few years ago he did a re-fret and fixed a bracing issue on a Gibson ES-125. Later, when I was negotiating with the guy I sold it to, he asked who had done the work. When I told him Ryan at East Side it pleased him and he didn’t try to haggle me. I would highly recommend Ryan and would trust him with any of my high value, sentimental, vintage guitars!

These guys are not the cheapest in town, but they may very well be the best. This is a great case of you get what you pay for. God, I love an honest deal. This time I took my SG into Ryan for a set up and fret job, now it plays like butter. In case you were wondering, that’s a good thing. Excellent work as usual. At the same time, I took my aging Mesa Boogie in to Trevor at Arcane Amps, in the same shop, and he made it sound good again, wait, not just good, great! So superlative work guys!

East Side Guitar Repair and Arcane Amplification continue to impress! They are my go to shop for instrument/amp repair, maintenance, and custom build projects. Ryan has done excellent work on all my guitars. His knowledgeable recommendations and attention to detail are why I keep coming back. Trevor at Arcane is also thoroughly top notch. Trevor has modified and custom voiced several of my existing amps and his ear and workmanship are fantastic. You are hard pressed to find a better outfit in portland when it comes to comprehensive service of all things instrument/amp related.

This review is for Arcane Amplification. I am so glad I found this amp repair shop. Based on my experiences with a number of other repair shops, I feel this is the best amp repair in town. I’ve had several vintage amps repaired and vastly improved here, and have always received competent, professional and excellent customer service. Trevor offers a quick turnaround time and awesome communication – letting you know what needs to be done and how much it will cost ahead of time, keeping you informed on how work is progressing, and checking in if there will be any delay in the repair time. Need amp work done and not sure where to go? Give Arcane Amps a try – you’ll be glad you did. Also, regarding the luthier side of East Side Guitar Repair, I had an SG with a cracked neck/neck pocket repaired here a while ago and couldn’t have been more happy with the work and affordability of the repair. While I rarely need guitar work done, if I ever do need it, I’ll likely be stopping here as well. It’s so awesome that these two businesses are in the same building!

Took in my Stratocaster for quick solder job(since I can’t solder that well). Took a bit longer(week and a half), but I wasn’t screaming for it since I have nine Strats. Nice guys and good service.

I brought my bass to the shop for some minor electrical work, and I was told I could pick it up in about a month. A month went by and I didn’t hear anything about it. A month and a half, and still nothing. By the two month mark, I was getting pretty worried because I really needed it back and they were charging by the hour! I finally called, expecting to get some very bad news, and it turned out that my receipt had been misplaced. Instead of a whole runaround like I was expecting, though, they told me they’d work on it that day and that I should come in that afternoon. The bass was fixed when I got there and crazily enough, it was free of charge! I seriously regret ever doubting these guys and I wish I’d insisted on paying even just a little. I’m so grateful and I’ll definitely come back in the future!

Took a custom Tele to Ryan with a long list of wants including adding a piezo which I brought. Ryan took the guitar for a few days and said he would get me a price on the work because it was a lot. Ryan was awesome, did his research to be sure what it would take. When it was done the guitar played incredible and sounded very nice. Ryan was perfect to work with as well. Definitely highly recommended! I intend to bring at least one more guitar here if not two for different kinds of work. Very professional service for sure.

i brought in an old classical guitar from 1983 that had a large crack on the face. Not only did these guys do an excellent job with fixing it and I honestly couldn’t be happier. Would definitely come here again, and recommend it to any friend of mine.

I met Trevor to work on my guitar effects unit that had seen a lot of road time. He had the part I needed and I was out of there with a fully operational rig in around an hour. Great job!

I brought Ryan a Kay Super Value Leader from the 50’s. It had no truss rod, so he planed the neck down significantly at the top(where the rise was) and refretted it. This beauty was Beat, and he brought it back to life. It plays like a dream now; I’m really happy with it. Only the neck pickup works(of the three), but the beauty part is that he also winds pickups. Will they sound like the old ones? I’ll let you know when we get around to that. I’m used to really good guitar work in Nashville(Joe Glaser) and in Northern CA,(Larry Cragg) and this guy has got it Together.
