Angela’s involvement in our labor preparations and attempted VBAC was the lynchpin factor: what could have been a very stressful time filled with uncertainty and distress was the joy-​filled and satisfying experience that a birth should be. Although we ended up with another C-​section, Angela provided the compassion, and insight and experience we needed to feel at ease and informed in our decision making throughout the process, and we felt confident we had done all we could to facilitate the natural birth that was just not to be. Angela was also able to provide techniques that allowed us to labor at home well into the process and comfortably once we reached the hospital. She was very well regarded by the hospital staff and ensured implementation of our birth plan wishes gently but effectively. Angela was also very generous of time and spirit during our post partum period, happy to discuss concerns about our newborn and process the emotional and technical aspects of the delivery. We could not have been more pleased or recommend her more highly.

Angela was our doula, my prenatal masseuse, and encapsulator for our first child in May 2012. Her fantastic personality, background in prenatal massage, years of experience as a doula, and knowledge gained from the Birthingway midwifery program make her the complete package and I cannot recommend her highly enough! While we had hoped to have a natural labor and stay in our home with Angela as long as possible before going to the hospital, medical necessity required a hospital induction. It was the last thing we wanted and had my husband and I worried that my labor was no longer in our control. However, because of Angela’s tremendous support (and timely massages!), I was able to have a wonderful, pain-​med free labor and birth a healthy baby boy despite being induced with Misoprostol, Pitocin, and having the OB breaking my water. I can’t imagine such a rewarding experience despite the interventions being possible without Angela and know that hiring her was the best decision we made. We look forward to, hopefully, having her be our midwife for a home birth on baby #2!
