Dr. Lu and his team are absolutely excellent. I’ve been here a couple times, and I received an initial consultation, «chiropractic”-like adjustments for the myriad things I have misaligned or overly tight, electro-acupuncture(don’t worry, it sounds more scary than it actually is!), and a tuina massage experience. Usually, one of his students does the tuina massage, and Dr. Lu does the electro-acupuncture. This is one of the few treatments I have tried that has given me any kind of prolonged relief, and a feeling like the ROOT issues are being addressed — not just the typical slap-a-bandaid, have a prescription packet, get a referral to x specialist here, and thanks for the co-pay treatment I’m so tired of. Hooray for eastern medicine migrating to the US. I have several ongoing conditions with chronic pain. I have tried just about anything you can think of and only some things do more than mask the pain or fix it for a few days, only to have the full pain and tightness come creeping back after a week or two. Dr. Lu’s treatment made me feel immediately healthier and better — i.e. less pain, more revitalized, and stable, for a couple weeks after waking up. I could actually put weight on my right leg again without wincing after one appointment! Well, I booked a follow-up and it had me feeling almost normal again in terms of my pain.(This didn’t last more than a few weeks; however, I’m hopeful that with enough successive appointments, it can last longer, and a couple weeks of near-normalcy is pretty awesome when you’re in constant pain!!) I plan to go back as much as I can, as the one caveat(especially for being a student): the service his staff and Dr. Lu provides are somewhat expensive. A session of tuina massage and the electro-acupuncture cost $ 90. An appointment for both is usually 60 – 90 minutes long, depending on how busy they are and if you get to see Dr. Lu for more than a few minutes. Add another 20 – 30 minutes if it’s your first appointment for the consultation. Dr. Lu has clearly mastered the healing art of Chinese medicine. Try asking him for a prescription of TCM(Chinese herbal medicine), if you can afford it. It helps.

knowledgeable, fast and courteous, scheduled me in same day; but some communication breakdowns, seemingly due to doctor being rushed and/or staff not entering information correctly in my chart, resulted in me being only partially treated… however, problem was correctly diagnosed in the end.

So far so good I am new to acupuncture but I’m new to pain or injury. I have had incredible results in my first two visits and it has made me very excited to further my acupuncture and Chinese massage experience. The staff here is very nice and very personable not to mention extra accommodating. I hurt my shoulder and neck on the job and was getting physical therapy and pain medication with no significant progress inmy. recovery. After only one visit to Dr. Lu’s office I was able to cut back on the pain medication significantly and I gained a great deal of motion in my arm and shoulder. I recommend giving acupuncture a try if you are not satisfied with the results of traditional Western medicine.

I just had the most incredible session with Dr. Yan Lu. He has a very special gift and a passion for what he does. He took his time. I did not feel rushed what-so-ever. His handiwork on my back included massage and adjustment with acupuncture. I can actually feel my muscles breathing again. He also recommended a Chinese Herbal Supplement of his own design. I will be taking that for the next week or so. If you are experiencing any kind of pain, I(((HIGHLY))) recommend him. Very affordable. Worth every penny. I saw in two previous reviews that Dr. Lu has a very special qualified touch. I agree with this. There was also a review that noted him as ‚“sue worthy” I did not agree with this at all. It is up to our individual distinction to determine whether or not to put supplements into our bodies. My advice is to be in tune with one’s own body. Chinese herbs do not work for everyone as we are all unique and individual from the inside out. I am having great success with the herbs and enjoyed my experience very much with Dr. Lu. He is fair, reasonable, has great eye contact, and listens. Two thumbs up.

So the only reason dr Lu doesnt get 5 stars from me is because his practice changed. Its still very good, and he is an excellent doctor, but its not as personable, and that was one of my favorite things about his practice. I’ve referred many people to his practice, including family members and will stand by my recommendation. I have been to multiple different chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapist, you name it. My back was hurting constantly, no injury, just wear and tear. After my first visit, I felt like I was a newborn, my whole body felt light and brand new. Its hard to explain with out sounding like a crazy person :) when I first started going to see dr Lu(about 4 years ago) his practice was very small, it was just him, now there are many other people there, which some people really enjoy, but I was used to Dr Lu. So the change wasn’t something I personally liked, but its great for Dr Lu, he is getting busier, which is well deserved. I am very surprised by the review Susanne K wrote in 2011, you probably wont find a more knowledgeable acupuncturist anywhere in the state. Although I no longer go there(simply no need), if I ever had any problems with my body, Dr Lu, would be my first choice hands down.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this clinic and the staff !! Dr. Lu has done a great job of making a beautiful space and having some really lovely people work for him. I don’t have to see him as much these days, but I have been seeing Dr. Lu for a few years now and I am always so pleased and relieved of my discomfort. Dr Lu has a very quiet, calm manner and finds out what is bothering you and goes after it. I am personally not very into herbs although I know I would be better if I took them… I just don’t want to be bothered quite honestly… The Tuina massage sessions with Kayle & the electro– acupuncture I receive is enough to get me in good working order. Do note: Dr. Lu is now in building B of the same office park 12778SE Stark St

I find it extremely unlikely that the July 2011 reviewer has the correct doctor in mind. I am being treated by Dr. Lu for migraine and tension headache and have had significant improvement(75% reduction in frequency) of this condition for the first time in 20 years. Prior to seeing Dr. Lu, I underwent therapy at other clinics without improvement in my symptoms. The combination of acupuncture and tuina massage has been excellent. Dr. Lu and his team are clearly outstanding at what they do. I have seen him on multiple occasions and have found him to be an expert in his field and have complete confidence in his care.

I found out about doctor Lu from my sister. He helped her with her back pain which she was’t getting much relief from with conventional therapy. I must say that Dr. Lu gives an impression of a person who knows very well what he is doing whether it is acupuncture, massage or herbs. Without getting into much details about my health, Dr. Lu was very helpful. So, when I was a week overdue with my baby miles of walking and other known alternative labor inducing techniques were not helping much, my OB scheduled me for induction, and I thought of Dr. Lu. To make a long story short — I saw Dr. Lu at 3 pm on Tuesday, at 4 am Wednesday morning(just hours before scheduled induction) I held my baby. I highly recommend Dr. Yan Lu.

As someone who believes Traditional Chinese Medicine as actual medicine and not alternative medicine in the western world, my experience at Dr. Lu’s was a MAJORFAIL. Let me explain the ways and reason: WARNING! WRONGDIAGNOSIS! Dangerous herbal formula! I went there with an ailment that I could not understand and was hoping for a gentle treatment and preventive care. I got the complete opposite. It was 8 months ago I saw Dr. Lu twice for one month, and now 8 months later I am seeing a legendary doctor with 56+ years of experience in Oakland, California due to weakened kidneys. I moved to California temporarily just to see this particular doctor to heal me. I know, most firmly, that my herbs taken from Dr. Lu’s prescription 8 months ago made my matters worse. 8 months ago when I saw Dr. Lu, he gave me herbs that made my skin break out so severely that it would hurt to move my eyebrows. I told him about it, and he said«it must be just a reaction to the herbs.» I’m thinking now, Yeah, duh. Please message me for details before going to see Dr. Lu and I will explain everything. Please do not support his practice. If I was the type of person to sue, this would be the perfect opportunity. But since I blame myself for loose research and not seeing the signs of bad adverse reactions to the herbs he gave me, I am putting the history behind me as now, with renewed hope, my new doctor mentions that it will take me 3 months to heal my kidneys. My new doctor, as I mentioned as legendary in Chinese medicine in the bay area(30% Chinese per capita, more than any other place in the US), he took a look at me with bright light, whereas Dr. Lu looked me over under soft fluorescent light. When my new doctor looked at me he said, «you’ve had weak kidneys for a long time»(kidney yang deficiency), he emphasized the long time which he probably meant years. Which means Dr. Lu messed me up even more by diagnosing me with a liver heat condition. Not only is this the wrong organ in the body but also the complete opposite heat/cold condition! 3 more months of discomfort, totaling a 5 month long ordeal plus $ 4,000 in medical bills(from western medicine admittance to ER, blood tests, urine tests to check kidney function and other secondary preexisting conditions) in addition to the cost of my new doctor which is well worth every penny! If only I could give negative stars… this would be the review.

Dr Lu is the real deal. He is an amazing healer and helped me tremendously. And he takes my insurance. Go see him!
