Disappointed that their hours are so erratic. After reading all of these great reviews I really wanted to try them. Twice, I went by and they weren’t open. Once, I called an hr and half after their posted opening time and, while she was really nice, said that she just got there and my order wouldn’t be ready for at least half an hour. That’s three unsuccessful lunch attempts during posted operating hours. Very disappointing and I won’t be wasting my time trying to track them down anymore. I’d recommend you call before attempting to come here so you wouldn’t run into the same thing.

This is one of my favorite food carts in Portland. The food is flavorful and fresh tasting. I’ve had the vegan sampler which is delicious, my friends tried some of the other things but were also very pleased. And the people working there are the friendliest!

Delicious food(truck), secound best Ethiopian food I ever had. The chicken was very good and even the side dishes(vegtables) were superb. Amazing prize-value balance.

One of the best Ethiopian food we have ever had!!(And we have had a good share of Ethiopian food in Vancouver, BC and San Diego). We had the vegan sampler and loved all of the 4 dishes. The lentil stew was packed with bold flavors that just explode in your mouth. The potatoes were so silky and rich with buttery flavors, and the cabbages were still crunchy that were not overly wilted. I could go on and on! Just amazing food.

I’ve now eaten here(and eaten around) enough to say for sure this is the BEST Ethiopian food from the nicest people. Mimi and Yohannes are always so friendly and kind. The food truck at 15th& Alberta has turned out to be a regular stop for me and my favorite is the beyaynetu(vegan combo). The Sambusas were really great too — get a little extra green sauce to go with them if you like to dip. They are pretty big, so one is enough for me. The portions are fantastic — the price is just right for one, but the portion lasts for two! And if you go, and they aren’t there — come back another time. It’s worth it!

Dare I say that the Dalo’s food truck is BETTER than the restaurant? We just found them after not knowing where they moved to. The food was so fresh, so delicious, and you can’t beat the price. Such lovely people serving such great food. Love them!

I had high hopes for this food cart in my ‘hood, but I was disappointed with the flavor and oil of the dishes. The potatoes were a weird tan color and I felt like most dishes had too much oil. The portion is great and a great value for $ 8, however next time I’ll go to one of my other fave spots in town.

I am sitting here attempting to write this before I go into a food coma. This is my second time here. I LOVE Mexican food but I think this is my new favorite. Both times here I got the vegan combo plus I got the mushrooms first time and the Doro ribs(chicken spicy) on my second trip. It is SOOOOGOOD. WILLDEFINITELYBEBACK.

Spectacular value-priced Ethiopian cuisine. Really great vegan sampler. Ask for the hot sauce for a little fresh chile/cilantro/onion zing.

Nicest owners ever! I stopped by for lunch and the lamb dish I wanted was out so I ordered something else based on the owner’s recommendation. While waiting, the owner came out and gave me the last of the leftover lamb dish for free as a sample. The meal I ordered was huge portions and delicious! Great service and great food!

I visited Dalo’s Kitchen yesterday because of their vegan-friendliness & was treated to the best Ethiopian food I’ve had since I first tried the cuisine two years ago. I had the $ 8 vegan sampler & each item, including the injera, had a unique flavor & spice level, allowing the components to compliment each other quite well. It was a two-portion sized meal of fresh, flavorful vegetables. I look forward to returning soon.

Ahhhhh where do I start? I went here for my first time, and first time for Ethiopian food. This place changed my life. when I ate the food I felt… Healthy. Like I wasn’t going to feel sick from eating there. I love how the bread has a great nutritious amount of iron. So all you anemics out there go! And it’s all gluten free! I wish they were opened later! The lady was the best sales cool woman I’ve ever met! I forgot the name of the dish I had, but I got the bread with it. And it had the perfect amount of vinegar flavor. I wanted to go back tonight but I saw that they were closed:(but I’ll be back! Also I hope they can find another location for the actual restaurant. I think it’s terrible that they got kicked out because stupid apartments were being built. We don’t need more people. We need more food!!! Delicious place I highly suggest everyone goes here to eat! Cheers!

Dalo’s is a family owned business that was located on N. Williams & Skidmore until recently. They have moved to 510SEMLK where they have a food cart. They are just the nicest people! The food is great, and affordable. I can’t tell you how many friends and relatives of mine have been to Dalo’s and loved it. My oldest son is a gluten-free vegan and I’m a vegetarian. There are great options for us. As for any reviews about the restaurant being closed that is true if you are looking for a sit-down restaurant. Sadly, the Williams St location is gone only because the entire building is going to be torn down due to someone else opening up a business or businesses there. It is my belief that Dalo’s was a big factor in making N. Williams St as popular as it is now.

I have been wanting to try Dalo’s for weeks now! A group of friends and I made our way to NEPDX to check out this amazing little gem. It was somewhat difficult to find(due to iPhone map issues), and I can see how parking may be difficult(entrance is on Williams, a busy one-way street), but we all found parking close by. The inside is pleasantly decorated, but not overwhelming. The aromas coming from the kitchen were outstanding. We had the buffet, drinks, coffee and some sweets, and practically had to be rolled out the front door. You WILLNOT leave here hungry! In fact, the trick is trying to make yourself stop eating even though you know you are already stuffed full. The family that owns Dalo’s is a very special one. They are infinitely hospitable and definitely treated us like one of their own. They prepare their food with love and take a great deal of pride in their business. And it shows! I will DEFINITELY be back!!! :-)))

I have been here a couple of times now and I have had their buffet all the time. This is the only place that offers an Ethiopian buffet in Portland as far as i know. The buffet spread is pretty good and offers a good mix of both vegetarian and meat dishes. The buffet is $ 11 and fills you up pretty well and also lets you sample a good number of dishes from the menu. The buffet included the soft and spongy Injera, 2 lentil dishes — one spicy and one mild, a cabbage dish, a spincah dish, a chicken dish in Berbere sauce and a beef dish in some curry sauce. For dessert they had some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. The place can be a little hard to find as from the outside the building looks like a warehouse. Overall. i would highly recommend to try the buffet at this place if you are in the mood for some good ethiopian food.

It’s a good thing I read reviews prior to showing up, because Dalo’s is hands down the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. If I had not read the reviews I’m fairly certain I would have been scarred of before even finding Dalo’s. While searching for the restaurant on Vancouver Ave we only encountered two vagrants with a pit bull and shopping carts occupying the lot on Vancouver, which one would think the entrance. The experience was absolutely fantastic after finally figuring out that even though the address is Vancouver, the entrance is on Williams. We had absolutely wonderful service from the second we stepped in the door. We were served by a young man who I am assuming is the grandson of the family, and there was a very sweet older man who came by regularly, but not too often checking on us. The older gentlemen proudly told us his daughter is the chef. The décor is fun, cozy, cultural, and funky. The food was absolutely exquisite! The goat curry was one of the most amazing dishes I’ve ever had in my life. The goat was fall off the bone tender, and the spices were out of this world. We also had a chicken dish, lentil soup, and an egg plant dish that were all good. The injera was light, and spongy. My one complaint, other than possibly the sketchy block on which its located is the spicy level, which was splendidly solved by their incredibly tasty Jalapeño sauce, yum!

People sure do like to snicker when you say you like Ethiopian food: ‘they have food there?’ they guffaw. Yes, they have food there you ignorant buffoon, some if the best food ever and they friggin’ invented coffee. Anyway, there are several reasons why I love Ethiopian food. 1. The vegetables, 2. the sauces, 3. the spices, 4. every Ethiopian restaurant I have been to is a family business and they are the most gracious hosts, you feel like you are having dinner at a friend’s house, 5. eating food with pieces of inerja brad is very akin to eating food with pieces of tortilla, I don’t know about you, but in my family, you got two tortillas with your dinner and that did not mean you made two tacos, it meant you tore off pieces of tortilla and picked up your food with that, exactly like Ethiopian dining, 6. the coffee, 7. the beer, 8. the desserts, 9. the sharing, 10. the atmosphere. Dalo’s Kitchen has all of these things in spades. The actual food was so delicious, the father and son were so nice, the lunch buffet was a great deal, and had a really good variety of meats and veggies, excellent coffee. Alas, I was only visiting Portland, but if I lived here, Dalo’s would be at least a twice a month or weekly spot. Excellent!
