Pretty cute little vintage shop. I found a gorgeous summer white dress that I’m still in love with. That was only treasure I found though because every time I go in there and try things on, it never fits the bust part. Love their clothes but being a D cup, it’s probably more difficult, because used clothes donated tend to shrink so it makes sense why they don’t fit me most of the time. Love the white dress though that I bought.

Smaller than BE, but their system is more organized. They have a board which tells you exactly what they need/aren’t buying. Drop off your stuff and you can pick it up later (up to 3 days). I brought over bags of clothing BE passed on and made another $ 60. I preferred their merch over BE’s too. I’ll be back with more clothes for sure.

I am a shopaholic/​clothes hoarder in recovery (I’ve got a B.S. in apparel design and used to work for Nordstrom and the Rack… need I say more?) With closets stuffed to the brim, I periodically do a purge. I make Crossroads my first stop when selling, although at least half the time, I end up trading for as many or more items than I sell!
Buffalo Exchange used to be my go-​to, and I’ll never knock them, as the girls over there have always been super friendly. But, Crossroads carries newer items and no vintage, which tends to be more of what I sell; I tend to hoard my vintage items more because they’re not gonna go out of style; they already are, so to speak!
There have been times when Crossroads bought several items from me. There have been times when they haven’t. But they always explain why, which is nice. Plus, to tell the truth, I sometimes throw items in my give-​away pile that I *know* are a crap-​shoot to begin with, so I definitely don’t take it personally if they reject them! If the items are too old, I mosey on down to Buffalo, who sometimes buys more of the slightly older stuff, or donate to charity. Whatevz!
In terms of buying, you never know what you’re going to find. Amongst their used items, they also sell some new items, and I’ve gotten a few of those over the past few years. Last night, I got a brand-​new dress, a used high-​end sweater, and a plain pair of black work pants because I have to wear a stupid uniform for work. They bought a dress and a coat off of me, so I used it as a trade. This is how it goes most of the time when I go there, and I just love it.

Terrible Customer Service.
12 Phone calls and 3 emails and still no response. Not only that but when you call nobody answers. After a 3 minute phone recording you finally get a new phone number that you have to call if you want to talk to someone.

Stopped in at Crossroads, the Goodwill, and Buffalo Exchange this morning — just looking/​shopping, not selling.
They have a lot of stuff in here, really packed. The racks too are close together so you’ll have to squeeze by if someone is browsing an adjacent section. Some things are organized by color (sorta) and other things by size. Way in the back they had their «new arrivals» which on the whole seemed higher quality than a lot of the other things in stock. Saw many items (thruout the store) that I otherwise would’ve tried on but had tears or stains.
Prices were OK. lots of stuff 50% off tho.
Left empty-​handed today but like any thrift store I’m sure their selection changes over every so often. Would be willing to give it a second look maybe next season.

Brought in 25 – 30 clothing items, all fall season clothing, in good shape. They only accepted three items. I got $ 19.78 cash for them. Told me that victoria secret doesn’t sell well there, which was the majority of the clothing I brought. Kind of disappointing. Wasn’t worth the drive. Glad with how much cash I got for the three items though.

They buyers are a hit and miss! Sometimes I walk in selling more than half my stuff for a decent price and some days I walk in selling nothing! Yesterday in particular the girl said «sorry your stuff is just a little outdated and over worn for our store» and most of my stuff had tags! No the buyer looked outdated and worn out! I’ll probably never waste my time trying to find parking and carry my heavy bag into the crossroad for no reason!

My favorite consignment store in Portland. Unlike Buffalo and Red light, this place actually buys your clothes from you. Sure, they like name brand items, but also look for on trend pieces. I will continue to buy, sell and trade at Crossroads. Kudos to Erin who works here, great service!

Apparently Portland is some kind of consignment store mecca because the people in charge of merchandising and buying for every consignment store I went to last weekend are on the ball. I got a brand new with tags Indah dress for $ 22! That dress cost well over $ 100 brand new! I didn’t have much time to shop (good thing for my wallet) but everything was neat, tidy, color coordinated, and totally in style. TONS of name brands at ridiculously reasonable prices.

For some reason I never find anything here. I like Crossroads in general, but their 23^rd Ave. location always seems much better to me. For instance, I was here on a Friday afternoon last week. It was swamped. I’ve been to the 23^rd location on a Friday at a similar time and it was much less crowded. In fact, that location always seems to be less crowded.
Due to how busy it was I ended up waiting around 40 minutes to have someone look through my bag of clothing I had to sell. After all that they didn’t take anything. I just came in too late in the season for them to need summer clothing (even though some of it was brand new). My ideal store would buy items for any weather all year round, but I don’t work here… that’s probably just not a sustainable business model.
It’s nice that they have a place to sit and the Mercury to read while waiting to sell your things. It’s also nice that you can drop off your clothing and come back later if you don’t want to wait.
Back to showing more love to 23^rd. I usually find something on 23^rd I would like to buy, even when I’m not even looking and they usually buy things I bring in, so it all works out. Not as much luck here on Hawthorne. Plus it smells kinda weird over here.

My experience at crossroads was actually better than expected. I liked their ‘how to’ videos to prep, but once in the store I wasn’t sure. The clothes on display were much trendier than my styles and the sales clerk wasn’t overly friendly. Once I was up to sell things started to turn around. The clerk was professional and not snotty. She explained her picks and process to me, and assured me that good classics always sell. I was ok that they didn’t buy everything because there was a method and protocol that made sense. I ended up with an extra $ 60 in cash and a positive experience that will have me going back to sell again.

My favorite consignment store in Portland. It neither stinks, sells tons of ghetto clothes or meet cashiers with attitude here. You can tell each article of clothing goes through a strict screening process that is worth it to shop here.
I’ve found great bargains with gently used designer brand products at a fraction of the cost. The trade in value is great too since I shop here a lot. Great location next to all busy street of Hawthorne.

OOOOOOOoooooooooooh! Loved this place. Had never been to a Crossroads before and my friend took me here whilst on my vaca in Portland. She said it was one of the best places to find gently used nice clothes.
She wasn’t lying! It’s a fairly big store and I had only 2 things I wanted. A hat, which sadly, I did not find, and a winter jacket (one that I could actually use in Portland, unlike the Bay Area).
I scored BIG TIME. I got me a Nine West Puffer Jacket with faux fur removable hood. In stores, around $ 100. For me, $ 25! Yeah baby! Paid and walked out of the store with it on! Hooray!
I’ll be checking out the two in my area with a friend later this month. Can’t wait! What a great store!

Great location, great clothes, great prices. Frank was able to undergo a wardrobe change here when a local asked him at a gas station «You’re not from here, are you?» I just wished with alllllll my might that they had black shoes in my size. Oh woe is me :(
Two pairs of jeans, a dress, two shirts, a jacket, and a crazy ring = $ 60 something bucks. All name brand, too. Frank even wanted to go back a couple times, which is pretty unheard of from him. He doesn’t enjoy shopping for clothes, much less trying them on and creating outfits. We even hit up a Goodwill the next day per his request on our Portland adventure, but Crossroads had better prices and a better selection.
PS If you must use the bathroom, you must go to a nearby drinkery (pub/​bar/​coffee shop).

I stumbled upon Crossroads after shopping and trading at Buffalo exchange for awhile. And I have to say — I was pleasantly surprised at my experience at Crossroads. It’s now become my favorite consignment shopping spot in Portland — for buying and selling.
At other consignment shops on hawthorne, the quality can be shoddy for women’s clothing, the prices a little too high and über-​selective on buying items back. For example — I brought 3 pairs of brand new Nine West heels in and Buffalo wouldn’t take any of them. I took them to Crossroads and they purchased all of them from me!
And — I’ve found some amazing deals at Crossroads — some of my new favorite wardrobe items have come from this store, all for very affordable prices for brand name like-​new clothing.

I was visiting Portland and stopped in Crossroads after walking by. The displays in the windows caught my eye and I decided to pop in and see what they had. I thought the store was laid out well and the quality of clothing was great. The employees were nice and helpful. I’m not sure if I’d rather have the clothing arranged by size instead of color… but either way I found a pair or shorts and a GREAT dress!
I also like how they donate to a charity of your choosing at the register if you don’t need a bag.

Clean, organized, and a smart layout are a few of the reasons I love Crossroads. I have gotten many pairs of jeans and other basics from this place and have been completely satisfied.
A couple of things I don’t like are A) the fact that clothing is arranged by color and not size (except for jeans) and B) the fact that the staff always seems a bit distant and busy. I would absolutely recommend this place to go thrifting though as the upsides of Crossroads leave the downsides of it in the dust.

This place works on consignment and will take your used clothing in exchange for store credit at 50%, or they will give you 35% in cash back.
Buffalo Gap (another consignment store) did not take all the items my daughter had so generously left us. We decided to have another go and headed over here. We waited patiently for them to go through our items. Before the sorter even opened the backpack she asked the other «judge» if it was necessary to get my info ahead of time, (since she figured I had nothing to show for myself is what that meant), and sure enough none of my clothing was accepted.
I felt so unhip.

I did a major closet purge to both my closets (the one in my room and the one in my study room). Took it to Crossroads (couple block radius from Red Light and Buffalo) and sold my winter stash. I read on the website that they are quite fond of current trends and favor brands like Free People, BCBG, H&M, etc. After they went through my stash, I left with $ 15.xx, leaving them with a leather jacket (xhiliaration) and a navy petticoat (free people). I wanted to haul the rest of my stuff to Buffalo but peering inside, I see that the line was wrapping around the store (yikes) with tons of people (guys and girls, old and young) holding onto their bags full of clothes to sell. I didn’t feel like waiting so I went to Goodwill and just donated all my stuff.
It’s weird, every resell place will tell you that you get 35% of the retail value… but the retail value is really up to the entry-​level buyer to determine.
I browsed a bit in their store as a shopper, and I’m kinda glad they don’t carry vintage stuff like Red Light and Buffalo, it makes browsing for current trends waaay easier. They have fashion from a few years ago as well as the most current fashions.

Has anyone ever stopped and pondered on the trend of recycled fashion/​thrift shops and their current marketing scheme of being «green?» if these «vintage» thrift shops remain so picky, only choose current trends, name brands, etc. what makes them any different from any other department store other than the moth ball smell? Isn’t it just creating more of a demand as people clean out their closets as an excuse to make room to buy more crap?
Anyhow, I tried to give Portland thrift shops a go, and they seem to be just as BS all around. I waited 20min. (no line) only to find out the thrift store employees forgot about me. When i went back to remind them, they didn’t both looking through or examining my clothing but rather a lackadaisical effort in sifting through the pile and just told me that they weren’t taking anything. It’s hard to believe, but i got better service at buffalo exchange!
